First Impressions: Nip + Fab Makeup

Sunday 30 July 2017

Nip + Fab is a skincare brand I have used for years and so when I heard they were bringing out a makeup collection, I knew I simply had to try it!
Starting with one of my favourite makeup products, we have the Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pink Lemonade (£7.95). Now this ended up applying darker than it looked in the tube, so do bare that in mind when choosing a shade, however this is quite a mid-natural nude shade rather than the slightly pinkier nude it looks in the tube. The formula has been created using shea butter and Vitamin E and so it is super moisturising on the lips and the intensely whipped formula gives full coverage and I found that it didn’t budge nor did it fade away.
Colour Correcting is pretty big still at the moment and so I opted to try the Colour Corrector in the shade Peppermint (£8.95). It comes in a tube, with a brush applicator, but be super careful when trying to get the product out as a LOT comes out at once. Although I was super impressed with the formula and coverage, and as I suffer from red patches especially on my cheeks, a green colour corrector is perfect for this, and I really did like this product, I just wouldn’t recommend applying it straight to the face.
As you may know I love a Highlight Palette so I was super keen to try this one out. The palette comes with six good-sized pans of highlighters, in colours of creams, peaches, bronzes and tans, and so there’s a shade for all year round, no matter your skin tone or colour. The formula is super creamy and doesn’t leave a powdery finish on the skin and each one is really pigmented to leave such a pretty hint of shimmer and highlight on the skin. I believe this is the only highlight palette available however if they brought out other shades I would definitely try them out.
Nip + Fab makeup is available instore and online at Superdrug.

Soap & Glory The Mask Force

Friday 28 July 2017

I always get SO excited when there’s a new Soap & Glory release, whether it be makeup, skincare or haircare it’s very rare that I don’t fall in love with it. Their most recent release is their face and eye mask collection, The Mask Force - let’s check it out…

Speed Plump Miracle Moisture Mask (£3.50)
This hydrogel mask has been formulated to help smooth and hydrate the skin and comes in two pieces so that it can fit perfectly onto your face - I often find that a lot of whole masks are too big for my face and don’t fit well, so this is great for me! The hydrogel mask is full of super moisturisers including hyaluronic acid, rose, peony flower root and safflower plant extracts. It is delicately scented with fresh juicy orange and sweet orange essential oil and instantly refreshes and moisturises the skin.
Bright + Beautiful Radiance-Boosting Mask (£3.50)
This one is for dull, lacklustre skin and the perfect sheet mask for post-party recovery! The Bright + Beautiful Mask refreshes and revives the complexion and has been formulated using Vitamin C and a special white flower skin-brightening complex plus a rooibos tea extract which is renowned for its energy-boosting properties. It is scented with fresh pink grapefruit and mint to make you feel revitalised and look glowing.
What-A-Peeling! Purifying De-Clog Mask (£4)
I think this is possibly my favourite from the collection, and you also get two applications, so its great value for money. I suffer from quite enlarged and clogged pores so this peel-off mask is great for me as it de-clogs pores and purifies the skin. What-A-Peeling is crammed full of skin-loving ingredients such as Vitamin C and oil-absorbing smoothers along with the fragrance of exotic tropical fruit and May Chang mood-boosting essential oils.
The Fab Pore Pore-Refining Sheet Mask (£3.50)
If you have oily/combination skin, then this one's for you! This sheet mask provides you with clean, healthy-looking skin and a shine-free, matte complexion. It contains white willow bark, cassia, lavender, tea tree, lemon balm, eucalyptus and mint and draws impurities out of the skin to give you that real clean feeling!
Puffy Eye Attack Under-Eye Brightening
Hydrogel Patches (£3.50)
I was thrilled to see an eye treatment was included in the collection as I always have such tired eyes as a full-time contact lens wearer and I always have dark circles under my eyes! These Hydrogel Patches revitalise tired, puffy eyes and are so easy to use. They contain super-naturally good ingredients such as cucumber fruit juice, and liquorice root extract to smoothe, revitalise, brighten and moisturise that all-important eye area!
You can find the Soap & Glory The Mask Force Masks instore and online at Boots.

Paperchase Glamingo Collection

Paperchase has always been one of my all-time favourite shops to go into and have a long browse around, I am a stationery addict, but they also have so much more than stationery, and you can really pick up some fabulous homeware finds. They are forever bringing out new collections, and one of their Summer themes is the Glamingo range. I was recently sent some really cute and fun Glamingo products so thought I would of course share them with you...
Glamingo 10 LED Flamingo Fairy Lights (£12)
Fairy Lights are not just for cosy winter nights, you can also jazz up your home all year round, especially with these super cute 3D flamingo lights. Each flamingo is a really good size, and they are strung on a 2 metre flex, so will fit all kinds of places.
Glamingo Patches Makeup Bag (£14)
These patches remind me of the nineties, a little bit of Californian glamour with palm trees, flamingos and watermelons! This PVC transparent makeup bag is really well made and will hold plenty of makeup, or whatever else you like to carry around or take on holiday with you.
Glamingo A5 Glitter Ziplock Notebook (£8) and Glamingo Pen (£3.50)
This super sweet duo is pretty and practical! I go through SO many notebooks, both at home and at work, and the majority of them are from Paperchase as they always have so many amazing ones. This glitter covered notebook contains a ziplock wallet and credit card slots to make it more of an organiser rather than just a notebook. The Glamingo Pen certainly beats just any old biro pen, and jazzes up any desk, whether that be at home, or at work - my colleagues will certainly know this pen belongs to me!
This is such a bargain! This ceramic pen pot can obviously hold your stationery, or your makeup brushes, eyeliners, mascaras, bobbles, pretty much anything. Pink and green colours are really on trend at the moment too, so add a little Summer colour to your home with Glamingo!
You can find the Paperchase Glamingo Collection instore and online at Paperchase.

L'Oreal Pure Clay Masks

Sunday 23 July 2017

I love a face mask, and Sundays are just about the perfect day to indulge in one, and this weekend I have been trying out the fairly new L'Oreal Pure Clay Facial Masks, of which there are now five different pots for different outcomes - Bright, Blemish Rescue, Detox, Glow and Purity.
The L'Oreal Pure Clay Facial Masks have been created using a select three pure clays and combining them with charcoal, which acts like a magnet to draw out any impurities in the skin. The powerful blend of pure clays consist of Koalin, a highly effective natural clay, known to absorb impurities and excess sebum, Montmorillonite, which is rich in minerals, and a clay which is recognised for helping to eliminate imperfections, and Ghassoul, a pure clay which is highly concentrated in minerals and renowned to help clarify the complexion.
The Masks cost £7.99 each and come in a glass jar which holds quite a good amount of product, so this is going to last quite a while, especially if you are multi-masking. They are so easy to incorporate into your skincare routine, and onto clean skin, just apply a thin layer all over the skin, avoiding the delicate eye area, and then leave on for 5-10 minutes to let it work its magic, removing with a wet towel or warm water. L"Oreal recommend using the masks 2-3 times a week, but of course that's your preference.
The three I have here, are Detox, Glow and Purity. Detox (black mud) works at instantly ensuring the skin is purer and cleaner and after using for one week, the skin feels fresher and more luminous, letting the skin breathe. Glow (terracotta mud) provides smoother and brighter skin, making the pores feel tighter and refining the skin's texture for the softest of skin. Thirdly, we have the Purity (green mud), which after just one week of usage, mattifies the skin, making it cleaner and softer, and I loved how this made my skin feel almost instantaneously.
The L'Oreal Pure Clay Masks are available instore and online at Boots.

Creating a Home Full of Summer Scents with Village Candles

Candles are fast becoming one of the UK's must haves in the home, there are endless brands and scents available, making there being something for everyone. A fairly new-to-me brand on the candle scene is Village Candle, a family owned business who create superior fragrances for the home, using the finest quality ingredients and purest essential oils.
Village Candles' fragrance collection is vast, with each one being available in votives, wax melts, and then small, medium and large glass jars. They are continuously working on new and limited edition scents, depending on the seasons, and I was lucky enough to be able to choose two fragrances to try for myself, both of which ended up being Limited Editions from their Spring 2017 collection.
Firstly I chose the Secluded Dunes fragrance, which takes you on a journey to the ocean-side sand dunes, filling your home with sea spray, hint of lily and sandalwood, which combine for a lively fragrance blend. I prefer fresh, woody scents to more floral, sweeter scents and so this is perfect for me, and it is such a lovely, calming Summer scent. The colour of the wax is an ocean green, which really reminds me of the oceans I saw in the Bahamas.
My second choice was the scent Urban Nights, which has a picture of a downtown city at night, and is a fresh blue in colour. This candle's sensual mix of fresh sage, herbal patchouli and light vanilla is perfect for the background fragrance of Summer afternoons and Summer evenings. These are the Medium glass jars, which provide your home with around 105 hours of burn time, so you're going to get plenty of use out of these.
Village Candles each have their very own Dual Wick Technology, which offers a cleaner, more efficient burn, better fragrance effusion and double the ambience created by the two wicks.
Which scents do you prefer when it comes to candles?

The Medium Glass Jars are priced at £16.99 each and are available online at Village Candles.

An Introduction to: The Rocca Box

I'm a little late with this post, due to having an operation back in June, however I still wanted to share it with you, as I think we all pretty much love a beauty box, especially one that's fairly new on the block. Welcome to the June 2017 edition of the Rocca Box.
June's edition was put together by Jessica Harris, editor of fashion and beauty blog, twentysixstyle.com and contains quite the variety of products, so let's delve in...
Firstly, we have the Bloomtown Botanicals Roll-on Infused Oil in The Rose Garden (£4.80). This handbag sized oil fragrance is scented with the goodness of English country gardens and provides long lasting wear as well as keeping the skin soft due to it containing an essential oil and Vitamin E blend. Perfect for warm Summer days.
Then we have a sample size of the Olverum Bath Oil (£27 Full Size), and this is perfect for me as I love my baths, and especially adding oils to them, as they are super great for the skin and make the water smell amazing. This sweet glass bottle contains enough oil for three baths, so plenty of health, wealth and goodness.

Accessory brand Vintage Cosmetics Company are included in the June edition, in the way of their cult Eyelash Curlers (£7). Their packaging is always so pretty, and who doesn't love a pair of essential eyelash curlers in their life? With some of the products, you'll find that you also get extra offers and discounts if you purchase further products from that brand, so it's always worth keeping an eye out for those.
Next we have a single sachet containing a We Are Tea Svelte Super Tea (£3.49 for a Box) in the flavour Yerba Mate & Seaweed. I'm not a regular coffee and tea drinker, but sometimes I do enjoy a flavoured tea, so this will certainly be an interesting taste to try out!
Finally, there is a Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme (£20), in the shade Incognito, a warm nude orange shade. This liquid lipstick is super creamy when you're applying it onto the lips, but the sets with a matte finish that's budgeproof for hours at a time. I really love how you get a mixture of well-known and lesser known brands here as you get names you can trust as well as brands that are new for you to discover.
Which would be your favourite product?

The Rocca Box costs £10 and is available online at Rocca Box.
