Spring Beauty Favourites 2021

With brighter, lighter days on their way, I thought I would group together some of my favourite Spring Beauty products, featuring haircare, skincare, body care, fragrance and makeup.

Starting with haircare, I wanted to include the Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumizing Paste (£39.00 for 250ml). This hair product doesn't have the most appealing look to it, but it protects and enhances the colour of your hair. The formula is enriched with pure Rassoul, which is a natural mineral clay and Rose Extracts to deeply cleanse the scalp while providing volume and density to the roots. The clay-like texture transforms into a light foam that won't weigh the hair down, so if you have fine hair like me, do not fear as it suitable for all hair types. I love that this is a low maintenance treatment as you only have to use it once or twice a week onto wet hair to get amazing, volumizing results.

For skincare, I have been loving the Lavera Hydro Sensation range, to rid my skin of any dryness left over from the Winter months. There are four products within the collection, the Lavera Hydro Sensation Micellar Cleansing Water* (£10.95 for 400ml), which effectively cleanses the skin with natural and organic ingredients to leave it feeling fresh, hydrated and clean. The Micellar Cleansing Water contains a mixture or water and gentle surfactants to remove makeup, sebum, grease and dirt from the skin, leaving it smooth and hydrated. The Lavera Hydro Sensation Face Mist* (£9.95 for 100ml) is a lovely, refreshing mist that hydrates and locks in moisture due to it containing natural hyaluronic acid along with organic algae to help the skin retain moisture. I also think this is going to be a lovely refreshing product for the Summer months too to cool down the skin. The Lavera Hydro Sensation Serum* (£17.95 for 30ml) is a highly effective moisturising serum that is lightweight and contains those all-important hydrating ingredients hyaluronic acid and organic algae. I find this Serum smooths out the skin beautifully, and the extra moisture helps to plump up the skin. The Lavera Hydro Sensation Gel Cream* (£19.95 for 50ml) has the most beautiful, cooling, gel-like formula to it and this hydrating organic moisturiser's super lightweight texture sinks into the skin instantly to keep it feeling fresh and nourished throughout the day.

Staying with the complexion, the Florence by Mills Hit Reset Moisturizing Mask Pearls (£34.00 for 20g) are a fun new release. They are slightly expensive for what you get, but these moisturising mask pearls come in a neat, petite lilac tube and each pearl is packed full of niacinamide, shea butter, apricot kernel oil and hyaluronic acid to leave the skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. You simply take a pearl or two and crush them and then apply to the skin and leave on overnight for a healthy, glowy complexion. You can use these 3-4 times a week, but as they are fairly expensive, I like to use them once a week and then use other mask treatments on other days.

I have used the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist (£35.00 for 50ml) for a few years now and even though you can use it all year round, I especially love to use it in the warmer months. I adore this pretty limited edition packaging! The Omorovicza Queen of Hungay Mist is a refreshing and cooling spray that contains orange blossom and purifies and tones the skin. It is lightly scented with neroli and rose and it an all-round pleasant product to use. I often keep it on my desk in the warmer months to cool me down and love the effect it gives my skin, keeping it hydrated throughout the day.

I still have fairly dry lips and so the Barry M Rose Lip Scrub (£4.99 for 14g)is excellent for exfoliating the lips and ridding it of any dryness. As a rule, I don't always like rose-scented products, but this one isn't overly powerful with the scent, and I do think the Barry M Lip Scrubs are such a fabulous product, especially for the price. There are six other flavours to choose from and the formula includes antioxidant Vitamin E to help prevent skin damage along with Olive Oil, Avocado and Jojoba Oils to soften and hydrate, keeping lips super kissable.

Moving on to body care, and it is back, the Original Source Laid-Back Lavender & Tea Tree Shower Gel* (£1.62 for 250ml). This was discontinued a while back, but I am so glad it has been re-released as I adore anything lavender scented. Original Source is cruelty free and contains 100% natural fragrance, with 157 lavender flowers in every single bottle. You cannot beat Original Source for their shower gels, as they have such a wide range and they are super nourishing on the body, but lavender will always have my heart.

As I have fair skin, I don't like to go out in the sun TOO often and so to help my skin get a tan, I like to use the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Body Lotion* (£5.69 for 200ml). You can use it daily or less frequently if you like and it is a creamy, moisturising lotion that contains a special combination of pure Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E to keep the skin healthy and nourished as well as gradually building a subtle tan in just a few days. The Palmer's Natural Bronze is suitable for all skin types and skin tones, as you can control the level of tan you are wanting. With it being a gradual tanner, I find that I never have streaks and if I personally miss an area, I can just apply some more lotion to that area to keep my tan going.

There have been so many fragrance releases recently, but the Estee Lauder Beautiful Magnolia Eau De Parfum (£52.00 for 30ml) really caught my interest. This is a floral fragrance, which isn't typically my cup of tea, but the freshness and creaminess of this fragrance make it perfect for Spring and Summer. Beautiful Magnolia contains top notes of Magnolia Petals, Mate and Water Lotus, heart notes of Magnolia Oil, Solar Gardenia and Turkish Rose and base notes of Cedarwood, Sandalwood and Illumina Musk, ensuring this fragrance isn't overly floral and it has some depth to it. The fragrance comes in a pretty, feminine bottle and I think this is such a lovely scent for everyday wear.

Moving on to makeup, and I had to include the NYX Marshmellow Soothing Primer (£15.00 for 30ml). I had wanted to try this out as soon as I saw it released. It has an actual light pink marshmallow texture to it, which is soft and fluffy as well as smelling super sweet, which I am obsessed with! This is a 10-in-1 smoothing primer which is infused with smoothing marshmallow root extract and smooths, softens, extends makeup wear for up to 16 hours, hydrates, soothes, evens tone, minimises texture, blurs lines, adds a soft focus finish and keeps makeup fresh. This really is a super product for the complexion and I love how much it smooths out my pores and gives my skin a beautiful dewy finish.

I have really been loving lighter foundations recently and so I wanted to include the Benecos Natural BB Cream 8 in 1* (£9.95 for 30ml). I have mine in the shade Fair, which is perfect for my fair to light skin tone and it comes in a pretty lilac squeezy tube. The formula contains light-reflective pigments and nourishing oils to take care of the skin and keep it hydrated and super smooth. This 8 in 1 BB Cream smooths, nourishes, moisturises, protects, calms, corrects, improves the skin's elasticity and evens out the complexion in one go, making it such a solid everyday product that is super quick and easy to use. The formula is slightly mousse-like and I love how much it evens out my skin-tone, providing me with a natural-looking yet medium coverage.

I recently discovered the Pixi + Makeup by Denise Mind Your Own Glow Palette (£16.00 for 30.6g) and I find it such a versatile palette. This face palette contains nine huge pans of product, which are created with a natural mineral pigment formula, to provide the complexion with radiance and luminosity. The shades can be used singularly or mixed together, and whilst they have been created for highlight and blush, you could also use these on the eyes. Even though this is a larger panned face palette, it is still flat and easy to store, which I always appreciate. The formula is silky soft and they apply beautifully and seamlessly on to the skin to provide the prettiest glow.

Another multi-use product I am loving at the moment is the Benecos Naural Fresh Bronzing Duo* (£6.95 for 8g). This beautiful duo comprises of a blush on one side and a bronzer on the other side of the pan. They can be used individually, blended together or even as eyeshadows, so it is a very versatile compact. Both products have a slight glow to them, without using glitter, and therefore it gives a very pretty lit from within glow to the skin. The formula is lightweight and finely milled so that it sits seamlessly onto the skin. Also, when we are allowed to travel, this will be such an excellent addition to your travel makeup bag.

As I am quite fair skinned, with blue eyes and blonde hair (when lockdown permits), I prefer to use a brown eyeliner pencil over a black one as I think it doesn't look as stark, and looks more natural, so softer for Spring, especially. The Smashbox Always On Gel Liner* (£18.00 for 10g) in the shade Brewed is an absolute winner! The creamy, pigmented pencil goes on like silk, so there is no tugging or pulling the delicate eye area, and even though I have quite watery eyes at time, this makes a great waterline liner. I love how precise this can make your eyelines or if done straight away, you can also blend it out super easily, and once it has been applied, it stays in place all day long.

A mascara I am currently obsessed with is the Shiseido ControlledChaos MascaraInk (£26.00 for 11.5ml). This gives such lovely, fluffy and longer lashes. It features a unique brush design that has two concave sides to boost volume and two flat sides to give extra lift to the lashes, which I would absolutely agree with. The formula is super long lasting and provides weightless, clump-free, flake-free and smudge-proof lashes. I have naturally fine, straight and short lashes and this mascara makes them so much more lifted and I really do love the fluffy effect it gives them as it makes it look like I have more lashes than I do.

When it comes to eyeshadow, I sometimes prefer to have a nice quick and easy product that will stay in place all day with minimal effort. The Smashbox Always On Cream Shadow* (£18.00 for 10ml) is available in fifteen beautiful shades and I have mine in the colour option Guava, a smokey rusty orange-red. The product comes in a squeezy tube with a narrow tip so it is easy to apply and it has a super creamy, blendable formula which is infused with primer, so you don't even need to apply that beforehand. The colour pigmentation is 100%, and even when blended out you don't lost any of that, they sit well on the lids and I found them budge and smudge-proof, lasting throughout the day.

For brows, I have been loving the new Huda Beauty #BombBrows Microshade Brow Pencil* (£15.00 for 0.023g). There are eight shades available of which I opted for Medium Brown, which is for neutral brown hair with a mix of cool and warm undertones and I find it the perfect shade for me. This revolutionary brown pencil features a spoolie at one end and then an ultra-fine 0.9mm tip, which is retractable and allows you to create the tiniest hair-like strokes. The formula is infused with a blend of Vitamin E, Castor Oil and Coconut Oil to care for the brows and I find it such an easy product to use, even on my naturally barely-there brows. Due to it having such a uniquely tin nib, you can create any kind of look with this pencil so that your brows look natural yet on point.

To lock my brows in place and add a tint of colour, I would recommend the Doll 10 Over Archiever Precision Microblading Brow Gel ($24.00 for 2.4ml). The main thing I love about this brow gel is the applicator - it has a long straight wand and then the brush itself is on an angle so there is no having to sit in an awkward position to apply it onto the brows. The formula is creamy and the spoolie is small, making for beautifully tinted, full brows. This is not only a waterproof formula, so it doesn't smudge whatsoever, but it also stays in place throughout the day.

The first of two lip products I wanted to share with you is the Benecos Natural Matte Liquid Lipstick* (£6.95 for 5ml) in the shade Desert Rose. This has such a creamy formula for a matte lipstick, and it contains nourishing ingredients such as Castor Oil and Jojoba Oil, meaning it is nourishing on the lips rather than drying them out like some matte liquid lipstick formulas can. The shade Desert Rose is one of those 'your lips but better' colours which is perfect for everyday wear, and you can either wear it on its own or pop a gloss on top for added dimension. I adore the velvety soft texture and this has fast become my favourite matte liquid lipstick formula.

The second lip product I wanted to share is the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in the shade Ibiza Nights (£19.00 for 3.5ml). There are many other shades to choose from in this formula, but Ibiza Nights caught my eye as I love the sheer nude colour with a hint of gold glitter and shimmer. It looks stunning over the top of the Benecos Matte Liquid Lipstick, but it also goes great over other lip products or even worn on its own. The formula is not at all gloopy or sticky and contains antioxidant Lotus Flower Extract to hydrate, soothe and protect the lips for a perfect glossy finish.

Urban Decay Naked Wild West Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Tuesday 30 March 2021

There have been a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the Urban Decay Naked Wild West Eyeshadow Palette, but I for one was super excited to try it out! My Dad very kindly bought me it for my birthday, and I loved it even more when I tried it out.

The Urban Decay Naked Wild West Eyeshadow Palette is designed exactly like the other Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palettes, except this one has a warm-toned metallic snakeskin effect on the lid. When you open up the palette, there is a mirror on the inside of the lid, twelve eyeshadows and a double-ended eyeshadow brush. With some palettes, I don't always like the quality of the makeup brush you receive with them, but I always love the Urban Decay ones, as they never scrimp on quality.

The eyeshadow formula is Urban Decay Naked's first all-vegan formula and the colour story is desert-inspired neutrals, ranging from pale peach, warm brown and metallic bronze to deep blue-green and soft turquoise shimmer. So although this still has those classic neutral nude shades, there is also a pop of colour, some bolder shades and some metallics.

The shades included are:
* Standoff - Pale classic nude matte
* Spur - Light peach matte
* Nudie - Nude matte
* Hold 'Em - Warm gold shimmer
* Cowboy Rick - Cool-toned light beige metallic
* Laredo - Soft milk chocolate brown matte
* Bud - Light turquoise green shimmer
* Rustler - Warm bronze shimmer
* Ghost Town - Terracotta matte
* Whiskey - Warm-toned deep chocolate matte
* Tex - Deep blue-green matte
* Pony Up - Medium grey matte

Colour-wise, my favourites are Bud and Rustler, as they are just beautiful and can really amp up any look. You can use all of these shades all over the lid, or take an eyeliner brush, and wet it and then apply one of the shades to the upper or lower lash line for a pop of colour or definition. Formula-wise, the mattes are beautifully soft and creamy and very pigmented, so they don't take a lot of work to blend into the skin and the metallics and shimmers are also creamy and smooth. A lot of people said they felt the palette 'boring', however I don't think that is the case whatsoever! I love the colours in this palette, and having the neutrals there help you to create a full eye look without having to dip into other palettes. You can wear an everyday low-key neutral look, or amp it up with one of the bolder colours and shimmers. It is such a versatile, and very wearable palette.

The Urban Decay Naked Wild West Eyeshadow Palette retails for £45.00 and you can find it online at Urban Decay here.

Burberry Fresh Glow Gel Stick Luminous Foundation & Concealer Review

Monday 29 March 2021

I haven't tried a Burberry beauty product for ages, but the Burberry Fresh Glow Gel Stick Luminous Foundation & Concealer recently caught my eye. It isn't a new product by any means, but is new to me and so I wanted to try it out.

The Burberry Fresh Glow Gel Stick Luminous Foundation & Concealer comes in many different shades and I opted for the shade Porcelain No. 11, which looks to me like it would be great for light skin tones, but a little warm for fair skin tones. The product comes in a twist-up tube, with classic nude Burberry packaging, so it can be applied straight onto the face or you can apply it to the back of your hand to warm it up and then use a brush or beauty sponge.

It has an innovative water-based formula that is enriched with Aloe Vera and is therefore very soft and light on the skin. The Foundation Stick uses encapsulated water which bursts on contact with the skin, to deliver long-lasting hydration to prevent dryness and caking. I find that it layers beautifully and is easy to build up if you are wanting more coverage. It states it has medium to high coverage, but I would say more medium all in all, however I did find that it covered my redness and smoothed out my pores really well, which I was pleased about.

The overall effect this foundation gives is one of those 'lit from within' glows, making my complexion look super healthy and smooth. I enjoy that this is a hydrating foundation as I do get dry patches on my skin, and instead of sticking to those dry areas, it smooths them out and keeps them nourished. The formula uses optical diffusers to reflect light, which helps to illuminate and define the facial contours for a radiant finish, and it is definitely one of the prettiest looking foundations I have tried in a while and I am over the moon with how it makes my skin look.

Due to a lot of face covering use, I often try to steer clear of heavier foundations and so this is the perfect everyday product as it is quick and easy to apply, makes my skin look dewy and healthy and has excellent staying power.

The Burberry Fresh Glow Gel Stick Luminous Foundation & Concealer retails for £36.00 for 9g and you can find it online at Look Fantastic here.

Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Conditioning Shampoo & Repairing Conditioner Review

Sunday 28 March 2021

When it comes to hair care and skincare, one of my favourite scents is always coconut. It reminds me so much of being on holiday and takes me back to my happy place. Skincare and hair care brand Palmers include coconut in quite a lot of their products and I adore it. I thought I would introduce you to a very affordable, yet wonderful hair care regime using products from the Palmers Coconut Oil Formula range.

Both of the products I am going to be talking about come in such great sized bottles, with the shampoo coming in at 400ml and the conditioner having 250ml. These are going to last you a very decent amount of time. All of the Palmers Coconut Oil Formula products contain ethically and sustain-ably sourced Coconut Oil and Tahitian Monoi, infused with Tiare flower petals and these raw, natural ingredients deeply hydrate, repair damage and give a superb shine to the hair.

The Coconut Oil Formula has been created for dry, damaged or colour-treated hair, so if you have oily or normal hair, then these probably wouldn't be the best products for you. As with all Palmers products, they have no sulphates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, gluten or dyes, so these products are also crazy good for you and your hair, as well as smelling incredible.

The Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Conditioning Shampoo* (£4.19) has a luscious creamy formula to it, which works well at nourishing dry hair, which you notice after it has dried too, leaving your hair looking and feeling much healthier. The Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Repairing Conditioner* (£4.19) is a great treatment for the hair, and when I have the time, I like to leave it on a little longer to really condition and repair my hair. It doesn't feel greasy or heavy on my hair like some conditioners can and I found that there was zero product build-up after use.

Due to us being in lockdown and not being able to visit a salon, my hair is very much in need of a trim to rid it of the dry ends, but this duo has definitely helped to keep my hair nourished and stronger.

You can find the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Conditioning Shampoo & Repairing Conditioner online at Boots here.

Milani Primers Review - Chill Out, No Pore Zone & Skin Quench

Saturday 27 March 2021

It doesn't matter how much you spend on your foundation if you don't care of your skin. Aside from skincare, primers are such important products to get right, as your foundation and all of your other products are layering on top of your primer. Milani recently released a new primer as well as re-formulating a couple of their existing primers.

The new primer from the brand is the Milani Chill Out Soothing Primer (£14.25 for 30ml) which is suitable for all skin types. This is a clear slightly gel-like formula that is lightweight and super cooling as soon as you apply it onto the skin, which might be nice for more sensitive skin types. It is a soothing primer that contains Wild Oat Extract, Ceramides and Marshmallow Root Extract and is free of silicones. As soon as it is applied onto the skin, it has an instant blurring effect and gives the skin a satin matte finish, so if you suffer from combination skin, this might be a really great option for you as it is going to mattify any oiliness without looking dry or clinging to any dry patches. This makes your skin feel so so smooth and my foundation applies over it amazingly well, no matter the brand or formula and I definitely think this is one of my favourites from Milani.

Next up is the Milani No Pore Zone Mattifying Primer (£14.25 for 30ml), which has been given a new look with 50% more product and the same formula. To look at, the formula appears a lot like the Chill Out Primer, with that clear, gel-like texture, but without the cooling effect. This feels SO silky on the skin and dries down very quickly to mattify the skin and and minimise pores and I like to use this on my T-Zone to keep oiliness away, but not on my cheeks with it being a more mattifying primer as I do get quite a bit of dryness on that area. Even though it has a matte finish, it isn't particularly drying on the skin, neither does it look dry, which is going to be great for those with oily skin. I do find this more blurring than the Chill Out Primer and my foundation applies beautifully over the top of it.

Finally, the new and improved Milani Skin Quench Hydrating Primer (£14.25 for 30ml) now also contains 50% more product. This is white in colour and looks and feel a lot more like a cream than the other two primers, with a thicker consistency, which instantly hydrates and plumps up the skin. This hydrating primer contains Hyaluronic Acid, which is amazing for not only hydrating the skin, but also keeping moisture locked into the skin, which is amazing for those with dry skin types. The formula isn't tacky or gloopy and even though it is very moisturising, it soon dries down and there is no residue left over. I just love applying this to my cheeks as it is almost like applying a moisturiser, except this being a primer, creates a lovely, smooth and plumper base for my foundation to be applied on top of.

You can find these Milani Primers and more online at Milani.

Current Favourite Lip Products - Fresh, Revlon, Iconic London, Too Faced & Bobbi Brown

Friday 26 March 2021

I love doing these kinds of posts as it allows me to share some new products but also sometimes, older products too. My current favourite lip products are from the brands Fresh, Revlon, Iconic London, Too Faced and Bobbi Brown. Read on to find out why...

First up is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in the shade Petal (£19.50 for 4.3g). I have a few of the Fresh Lip Treatments in tube and pot form, and they are one of my favourites. Petal is a warm pink colour and applies super smoothly on to the lips to give an everyday wash of colour. The formula is created with nourishing oils and moisture-preserving sugar to keep the lips hydrated throughout the day with an added bonus of having SPF 15. The tube screws on and off, and so you always know the lid won't come off in your handbag - we have all been there!

A more recent release is the Revlon Colorstay Satin Ink Liquid Lipstick in the shade Mauvy Darling (£9.99 for 5.0ml). I have quite thin lips and so when I wear a fully dry liquid matte lipstick, it doesn't do me any favours, but this satin formula is so much better as it keeps my lip colour in place even when wearing a face covering. There are different shades to choose from, but I love this mauvy pink as it always seems to suit my skin tone. The formula is not at all drying and actually contains black seed oil to moisturise and give you shine throughout the day and is therefore a very lightweight and comfortable product to wear.

For gloss, I have been loving the Iconic London Lip Plumping Gloss in the shade Tease Me (£19.00 for 5ml). This gloss has a perfectly-shaped applicator that fits the lips easily and the shade is a very delicate nude peach with a little shimmer to it. The formula is glossy and plumping without being sticky, due to it being infused with a biomimetic peptide, which helps to support natural collagen production to give more definition and volume to the lips. Obviously, with this being a gloss, it isn't something I wear when I am going to be needing to wear a face covering, but it is a pretty gloss which helps to boost my thin lips.

I love Too Faced products, but since I have been back blogging, there haven't been many new releases, but I bought the Too Faced Lip Injection Maximum Plump Lip Plumper (£24.00 for 4.0g) a little while ago and have been addicted to it ever since! The Lip Plumper comes in a pretty tube and has a slight duo-chrome effect which doesn't show through once applied to the lips. I expected this to hurt a lot, with it saying it is extra strength as most lip plumping products do, but this one slightly burns for a few seconds (not painfully) and then that is it and is definitely not as bad as I expected. However, this is by far the most effective lip plumping product I have tried before and so I have not stopped using it! You can wear it alone, or wait a few minutes before applying a lip colour.

Bobbi Brown have some really beautiful releases out at the moment and one of them is the Bobbi Brown Crushed Shine Jelly Stick (£25.00 for 2.5g) and I chose the shade Papaya, a soft coral red. This is a super moisturising formula that contains Hyaluronic Acid and fruit oils such as Apricot Kernel, Papaya and Sweet Cherry Seed so it both plumps and smooths whilst instantly boosting the hydration levels of the lips. The only downside for me is the casing, as you pop it out of one end, but it is so easy to want to put it in the wrong end, and then you would smush the product. The colour is beautiful though and you can either have it as sheer tint or build it up for more colour and they are so comfortable to wear and look shiny on the lips without any stickiness.

Top-Bottom: Fresh Petal Lip Treatment, Revlon Colorstay Satin Ink, Iconic London Plumping Lip Gloss, Too Faced Maximum Plump, Bobbi Brown Crushed Shine Jelly Stick.

Carex Antibacterial Hand Care Essentials

Thursday 25 March 2021

Carex have recently released a new range of hand care products that are antibacterial to help us keep our hands super clean, but also healthy at the same time. I have used Carex hand soaps for years, and they are always bringing out so many fun fragrances, so I knew I would be able to rely on these fabulous new products.

The Carex Derma Care Hand Cream + Anti-Bac* (£3.49 for 75ml) is a hand cream with a difference! This tube contains a moisturiser that is formulated for daily use and helps to combat dryness on the hands from frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser. This is a quick-absorbing non-greasy hand cream, so you can get on with your day without waiting for it to dry and without any left over greasy residue. I think it is genius that they have included anti-bacterial properties to this hand cream as then you're not having to apply hand sanitiser immediately after applying hand cream - who doesn't love a multi-use product! The product does have a slight scent to it, but a really fresh, creamy one, just like the Carex Moisture Hand Wash does, which I love, as it is not too overpowering, but it is always nice to have a little fragrance with a hand cream in my opinion.

I included the Carex Love Hearts Cleansing Gel in my Valentine's/Galentine's Gift Guide and I have almost used a quarter of it already, as I keep it on my desk at work and it is such a good hand sanitiser as it doesn't dry out my skin, which a lot of others tend to do. The Carex Moisture Hand Sanitiser Gel* (£3.50 for 300ml) is a great alternative if you don't want such a sweet smelling hand gel. It has a beautifully fresh and creamy scent to it and contains 70% alcohol, to kill 99.9% of bacteria and germs on the hands. Yet, it is fast-absorbing and not at all drying on the skin, as I just mentioned with the Love Hearts version. I often keep a small bottle of hand gel in my car, but I get through it so quickly, so I have taken to refilling it with one of these larger bottles as it works out much more cost-effective and I don't always have to keep remembering to pick up one of the smaller ones when I go to the shops.

Sometimes, both adults and children don't like the feel of hand sanitising gels, and so the Carex Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser Spray* (£3.49 for 100ml) is an excellent alternative. Just like the original Hand Sanitiser Gel, the Spray protects the hands against 99.9% of bacteria and germs, and it is super fast drying, and so once again, you can go ahead and do what you need to do without hanging around waiting for it to dry. It is a handbag-friendly size and so is great for when you are out and about, and you literally just spray it on to the hands and rub them together to keep them protected without them drying out. However, this genius spray can also be used on surfaces - whether that be kitchen surfaces, in the bathroom, the car or when you are away from home and want to sanitise a public toilet for example. I definitely recommend picking one of these up, even if it is just to keep in your car for on the go.

You can find Carex products instore and online at Boots here.
