I Heart Revolution Vinyl Cherry Liquid Lipsticks

Thursday 31 October 2019

You just cannot beat I Heart Revolution for fun, on-trend makeup, and their latest fruity range is adorable. I picked up three of the I Heart Revolution Vinyl Cherry Liquid Lipsticks and just had to share them with you.
This is the first ever liquid lipstick from I Heart Revolution, and if the Revolution liquid lipsticks are anything to go by, you know this is going to be a great formula. The Vinyl Cherry Liquid Lipsticks give lots of glossy pigmented colour to the lips and the packaging is super cute, with Barbie pink caps filled with little cherries.
The wand is a sponge applicator with a slanted tip, making application a doddle and the formula actually smells of cherry! There are eight shades to choose from, and I wanted them all but managed to finalise it down to these three...

Cherry Bakewell - Dusty Pink
Sour Cherry - Nearly Neon Pink
Wild Cherry - Hot Pink

The colours are just so vivid and juicy, that I just had to have them, and whilst I wouldn't wear Sour Cherry and Wild Cherry on a daily basis, I could totally wear Cherry Bakewell day to day. Even though there is a cherry coloured theme to this collection, there is a shade and tone to suit all skin tones and preferences.
Even though the Vinyl Cherry Liquid Lipsticks have a gloss like finish to them, they are still liquid lipsticks and so the wear time on these is a lot better than a regular gloss, and I am in love with them. They retail at just £4.00 each and Superdrug always tend to have offers on makeup, and so I picked these up on 3 for 2, so it cost me just £8.00 for the three!

You can find them online at Revolution here.

Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops Review

I am beyond late to the party with the Drunk Elephant vibe. Drunk Elephant are an American skincare brand, and since they came to the UK, everyone has been going crazy for their products. However, there are a couple of reasons as to why I hadn't picked anything up until I ordered the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops.
Firstly, as it was a brand totally new to me, I didn't know what the heck to start with. Secondly, some of the products are pretty pricey, and when I already very kindly get so many beauty products to try out, spending a fortune on a brand I don't know much about, isn't really something I want to do. However, we are a solid 6-9 months in now, and I have seen plenty of reviews and decided my first product to try would be the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops.

I am SO into a bronzed complexion at the moment, and have been for most of the year now. I know, it's winter, but by adding some warmth to my skin, it makes me look and feel a little healthier and happier. The Sunshine Drops is a bronzing serum that contains vitamins and antioxidants to protect the skin from environmental stressors. It is a highly-concentrated shimmering bronze serum, and it can be worn alone or mixed in with your skincare or foundation to the give the skin a sun-kissed glow.
I was a little apprehensive when ordering this as there is only one shade and I have fair to light skin depending on the seasons. However, because it can be mixed in with moisturisers and other products, that does dilute the colour so you really don't have to worry about it being too dark or too light on your skin, as you can warm it up with a darker foundation if need be.

Although Sunshine Drops contains a bronze pigment to give that sun-kissed glow, it is definitely first and foremost a skincare product and adding it in with your skincare routine has many skin-boosting benefits. The formula contains a powerful blend of antioxidant-rich ingredients like cocoa powder, platinum peptides and white tea extract, as well as containing Vitamins D, E and F which help to preserve the lipid balance of the skin to maintain a healthy barrier function, keeping moisture in and protecting the skin from any environmental damage. Drunk Elephant's star ingredient, Marula Oil is also a key ingredient in the Sunshine Drops and it helps to really nourish the skin and keep it healthy looking and feeling.
Sunshine Drops comes in a cute and funky tube packaging, with a bronze lid and a push-applicator for precise application. You only need a tiny bit per use, and at 30ml, this is an average amount for a serum. I think the things I love most about this product is that it is so versatile, and also that you are getting a bronzed look, whilst also keeping the skin feeling and looking well-nourished and hydrated.

The Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops cost £30.00 and you can find them online at Cult Beauty here.

#PixiPretties: Pixi + Heart Defensor Double Tap Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

Wednesday 30 October 2019

If you follow me over on my new Instagram account @kathrynslovesx you may have seen me unbox one of the most amazing packages from Pixi, which featured five different influencer collaborations. One of the collaborations takes places between Pixi + Heart Defensor, to produce this stunning Double Tap Eyeshadow Palette.
Heart Defensor is known for her outgoing personality and shows her love for anything beauty with her internet following all over the world. She creates simple neutral looks, as well as bright, glamorous looks too, whatever you fancy, she has it covered.
The Pixi + Heart Defensor Double Tap Eyeshadow Palette comes packaged in a gorgeous pink glittery outer carton and the palette itself follows the traditional Pixi mint green colouring, and has a heart on the front of it. What I like about this packaging is that it is slimline, and because the lid is clear, you can see the shades without having to open up the palette.
There are eight shades within this palette, including...
* Feb 4th - A matte neutral cream shade
* Oh He Got Money - A warm peach matte
* The Best FAM - A super shimmery metallic burnt orange
* Philippines - A beautiful rose gold metallic
* Always Dancing - A shimmery vivid magenta
* Fur Babies - A burnt orange with a hint of gold sparkle
* Lip Sync - A gorgeous metallic burgundy
* Coffee - A chocolate brown matte
I haven't previously tried a Pixi eyeshadow palette before, and I was honestly stunned with how gorgeously creamy and pigmented each shadow was. These shades are perfect for this time of year, but due to the pops of colour within it, you could also use it all year round. Even the matte shades are full and creamy, and you know when that happens, it is an excellent formula.
My favourite shades have to be the orange and burgundy metallic as they are really unique and I haven't come across those kinds of shades with such pigment and shimmer before. The Palette costs £18.00, which I think is pretty reasonable, especially for the quality of the shadows and the size of the pans.
You can find the Pixi + Heart Defensor Double Tap Eyeshadow Palette online at Pixi here.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

As I wasn't such a huge Jeffree Star Cosmetics fan from the very beginning, I have been playing catch-up with his products. The only eyeshadow palette I didn't have in my collection is the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Eyeshadow Palette and in fact it is actually one of the best, in my opinion. Let's take a look...
The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Eyeshadow Palette comes in the most beautiful packaging - the cardboard box is a little meh - but the palette itself comes in a pretty-believable pink faux leather design, with a vintage-style mirror design on the inside of the lid, and ten good-sized pans of eyeshadows.
The shades within the Andogyny Palette do take on a darker, warmer feel, which I think is perfect for this time of year and the colours included are;
*Frosting - Light champagne gold shimmer
*Safe Word - Perfect nude matte
*Charm - Mustard matte
*Deja Vu - Bronze shimmer
*Dominatrix - Chocolate brown matte
*Androgyny - Mauve matte
*Fetish - Dark blood red matte
*Military - Khaki green matte
*Poison * Petrol green matte
*Swallow - Teal blue matte
I normally prefer a bit of a shimmery moment when it comes to palettes, but the mattes in here are so different in colour to other matte palettes, that I am more than happy with them, and the two shimmers included are really pretty and work beautifully with the matte shades.
As with all Jeffree Star Cosmetics eyeshadows, the formula is second to none, and that is one of the reasons I really started to love his products. They feel creamy to the touch, are packed full of pigment and last all the day through. Even though this isn't a new palette, and is only Jeffree's second palette, I definitely think it is the perfect Autumnal eyeshadow palette and definitely gets overlooked.
The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Eyeshadow Palette costs £40.00 and you can find it online at Beauty Bay here.

Revlon Kiss Cloud Blotted Lip Color Review + Swatches

Tuesday 29 October 2019

It isn't often that I get to browse the likes of Superdrug and Boots, as my local stores are pretty small and don't carry many makeup brands. However, when I recently went to a larger store out of town, I spied the new Revlon Cloud Blotted Lip Colors (American spelling, darn it), and they had some stunning shades, and whilst I couldn't afford them all, I did choose the two which I thought I would wear the most.
There are ten shades of the Revlon Cloud Blotted Lip Color available, and so you will more than likely find one that suits your skintone and personality. They come in sweet little bottles, with a handy lid, which unscrews to reveal a double-sided shaped sponge applicator. The applicator is shaped so that it applies easily and comfortably onto the lips, which I really like.
The two shades of the Revlon Cloud Blotted Lip Color I chose are 014 Blush Much?, which is a peach-nude, and 013 Whipped Hazelnut, a light brown nude. I opted for these two shades as I thought I would get the most wear from them, plus they will also be great no matter the season.
The formula is ultra silky and soft, and reminds me slightly of melted chocolate. The Lip Color glides onto the lips effortlessly, and the formula has ingredients such as Milk Thistle Lipolami, Coconut Oil and Cotton Seed Oil, to keep the lips moisturised and nourished, which is perfect for these colder months.
Even the lightest of applications gives a very beautiful colour to the lips, and it is buildable, so you can go as light or as bold as you desire. The Revlon Cloud Blotted Lip Color does dry down to a matte finish, but a comfortable matte finish, that doesn't deepen any lines or creases on the lips, like with some matte liquid lipstick formulas. They retail for £7.99 each and you can find them in-store and online at Superdrug here.

Primark Beauty Haul October 2019

I haven't bought much from Primark Beauty over the last couple of months as I haven't been to store that often and when I have there hasn't been anything new. However, I recently took a trip and picked up a few bits which I thought I would share with you so you can see what is in store.
Firstly, we have the PS Leopard Luxe Eye Shadow Palette (£4.00). This gold and shiny leopard print mini palette comprises of a mirror on the inside of the lid and nine eyshadow shades. There is a mixture of matte, metallic, and glitter finishes in a range of neutrals, forest greens and Autumnal colours. For the price point, you really cannot complain and the glitters and shimmers are stunning! I am going on holiday on 1st December (I have mentioned this a billion times now haha!), and I prefer to take cheaper makeup with me when I travel in case it breaks or gets lost and so this will be perfect.
I then picked up three of the PS Nudes Glow Shadow Duos (£2.50), of which there were four in my local store, but the fourth I wasn't really keen on. These cute nude compacts contain a matte and a shimmer shadow which complement each other perfectly, and you can then create a quick and easy eye look. One or two of the shimmer shades you could also use as a highlighter, and the matte brown could be used on the brows - I love a multi-use product!
This girl loves a bit of shimmer and sparkle, so I picked up the PS Iridescent Highlighting Stick in Glow My Gosh (£2.50). They didn't have any other shades in my store, so I am not sure if any others are available. This is a twist-up creamy highlight stick which has a stunning soft pink shimmer to it, and can be used pretty much anywhere you want to add a glow to.
Keeping with the glitter theme, we have the PS All Over Glow Iridescent Liquid Highlighter (£4.00), which has been designed for face, eyes, lips and body, so pretty much anywhere! It has a chunky sponge applicator, a little like Tarte's Shape Tape wand, and so I personally would find this hard to use on the body, but the pearlescent finish looks lovely on the face, eyes and even the lips.
I always pick up one of the little bottles of perfume as they are so handy to keep in my handbag, car, desk drawer, anywhere really. This time I went for the Opal Crush Eau De Toilette (£2.00), which contains 20ml - absolute bargain! I love mint green, and even the fragrance is mint green so at the time I didn't care what it smelt like! However, it has quite a fresh and fruity scent to it, so for on the go, this is great for me.
You can check out what's new at Primark online here.

The Sunday Times Style x Latest In Beauty: The India Knight Edit Beauty Box Review

Monday 28 October 2019

I have said it many times before, but Latest In Beauty create some of the best, if not the best, beauty boxes in the UK. They work with some amazing companies and influencers, as well as having a 'pick n mix' style subscription box service too. One of their most recent collaboration is the The Sunday Times Style x Latest In Beauty: The India Knight Edit and I was lucky enough to receive one to rave about here on my blog.
A little background information on India Knight - She is the Sunday Times Style's award-winning writer and samples the latest products, hand-picking the best beauty items for her weekly column. Everything in this box has been tried, tested and approved by India and this curated edit is made up of the best makeup, skincare and haircare, as seen in The Sunday Times Style. There are ten products within this box, and six of them are full sizes! Let's take a look inside...
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (30ml Full Size) RRP £5.00
This is a potent serum which has been designed to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes, pores and congestion by regulating sebum production. I have quite enlarged pores and I haven't actually tried anything from The Ordinary before, even though it is highly raved about, so I am definitely looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about.
BBB London Ultimate Brow Arch Definer in Saffron (0.3g Full Size) RRP £22.00
I haven't tried this English brow specialist brand before, and this Ultimate Arch Definer looks incredible, as it is dual-ended, featuring a triangular brow pencil on one end, and a super soft oval shaped brush on the other end, so that you can blend those brows to perfection. I received the shade Saffron, which has a red undertone to it, so whilst it won't suit my colouring, I will definitely be able to pass this on and I will be on the look-out for my shade as it looks so good!
Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick in Dominate (0.42g Deluxe Sample Size)
I bloody love Laura Mercier products, as they really are some of the best on the market. Their formulas always kick butt, and they are made from the highest quality ingredients. Dominate is a bright red shade, and is going to be perfect for the upcoming festive season!
Charlotte Mensah Manketti Hair Oil (100ml Full Size) RRP £48.00
Wowzers, this product alone is worth more than the entire box is to buy! I haven't tried anything from Charlotte Mensah before, and considering it is sold at the likes of Space NK, I am guessing it is a pretty luxe brand! The Manketti Hair Oil restores dull and dehydrated hair by keeping it nourished and hydrated. You only need to apply a small amount through wet or dry hair and massage it into the scalp. My hair hates the cold, as do I, and so this is going to be a really lovely treat of a product to keep my hair looking and feeling amazing.
Kiehl's Creme De Corps Nourishing Dry Body Oil (40ml Deluxe Sample Size)
If you read my blog often, you may know I am obsessed with Kiehl's skincare and body care products. I have tried their Dry Body Oil before, and it is incredible at reinvigorating dry skin. I also like to pop a couple of drops in my bath before bedtime, as it makes the water silky soft, as it does my skin. Kiehl's create products with natural, high quality ingredients, and they really are a treat for the skin.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Overnight Matrix (15ml Deluxe Sample Size)
I haven't tried Elemis for quite a while now, but I have tried a lot of their products previously, and again, they create some of the most amazing skincare products, with their ranges often featured in some of the top salons and spas. This is a comforting night cream that smooths and revitalises the skin, and even promises to reduce the 'morning pillow face' effect - I cannot wait to try this!
Sam McKnight Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist (250ml Full Size) RRP £25.00
One of the reasons I love beauty boxes so much is that you get to try brands and products you may not normally come across. I haven't tried anything from Sam McKnight before, and as someone who has fine, limp hair, I am looking forward to trying out this Texture Mist to add some fabulousness to my hair. As well as being a Texture Mist, this also fragrances the hair due to a fresh, floral and spicy scent which was made with perfumer Lyn Harris!
Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray (200ml Full Size) RRP £24.00
This bottle looks amazing before I even know what's in it! I have tried Color Wow before, but not for a long time, and certainly not this chrome fancy number. The Supernatural Spray is a silicone-free spray that combats frizz, controls moisture levels and smooths every single strand of hair. It is also a humidity-proofing treatment that protects the hair for up to 72 hours, and so I am definitely going to be popping this in my suitcase for Orlando.
Zoeva Heritage Eye Crayon (1.4g Full Size) RRP £11.00
Eye crayons are my absolute jam at the moment. They are so quick and easy to use, yet super effective at the same time. They can be used all over the lid, or with other shades, or even as an eyeliner. I love Zoeva as a brand, they make incredible eyeshadows, and this Eye Crayon is no different. I have the shade Phonology which is a gorgeous metallic bronze shade. The formula is smudge and budge proof and it even comes with a little hidden sharpener for when you want to use it as an eyeliner.
Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator (15ml Deluxe Sample Size)
This is a cult-skincare favourite amongst so many people. The Clinique Moisture Surge is a gel moisturiser, so it is cool and soothing on the skin, whilst keeping the skin nourished and hydrated throughout the day. I love getting smaller sizes of skincare products as I travel quite a bit, as my family live a couple of hours from me, and it saves me having to take full, heavy pots.
Wow, that was certainly some box! The Sunday Times Style x Latest In Beauty: The India Knight Edit retails for £40.00, yet has a retail value of £210.00!!!! So, you are saving a whopping £170.00, and if you pop onto their website now, at the time of writing and posting this, they have an extra 20% off with code HAL20 here.

Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation & Concealer Review

Ooh I love a new foundation and concealer combo! There have been SO many new foundations released lately that I simply cannot keep up. The Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation and Concealer is brand new out and as someone who really enjoys the original formula from them, and as someone whose skin needs concealing and hydrating, I definitely had to give these a whirl.
You cannot beat Revolution for their price points. Everything is so affordable, and in a world where foundations can cost anywhere up to and over £100.00, it is refreshing to see quality products at pocket money prices. The Revolution Conceal & Hydrate formula contains hyaluronic acid, which I am sure by now you will know the amazing benefits it brings to the skin, adding moisture and locking it in tight, so keep you hydrated throughout the day.
There are 50 bloody shades! That is amazing for any makeup retailer, let alone a budget brand! The Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation costs just £9.00 for 23ml and comes in a glass bottle (which I love) and has a pump applicator underneath a rose gold lid. Now, most foundations generally come in a 30ml bottle, but for £9.00, I am not going to cry about it. As this is a hydrating formula, Revolution do suggest this for those with dry skin to get the most benefits from it, however they do also say it is suitable for every skin type and tone.
This Foundation has a medium to full coverage, and is completely buildable without getting cakey, and glides onto the skin wonderfully. It is quite a loose liquid, which is probably due to it having the hyaluronic acid in there, but that doesn't make it difficult to apply or alter the end result. I opted for shade F3, which is for fair skin with a neutral undertone and I did order online as I don't have a large Superdrug nearby. I tried this with and without a primer, and even without a primer, my skin felt fairly hydrated, whereas if I don't have a dry skin-specific foundation on, foundations can sometimes get quite dry and cakey, but I was definitely impressed with foundation, and if you have dry or normal skin, I would definitely give this a whirl.

Not a brand to do things by half, there is also the brand new Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Concealer available. Most brands release a smaller amount of shades in a concealer to their foundation, but not this one! They have 50 shades of the Concealer to choose from. As I like to more or less match my foundation to my concealer due to having dark under eye circles, I did go for the shade C3, which similar to the foundation is for fair skin with a cool undertone, which will then warm up the cool tones underneath my eyes.
You get 13g of product, and this time it comes in a plastic tube, with an applicator quite similar to that of the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, a fairly big slanted sponge tip. Because I have a small eye area, I don't always love huge tips, but this is no big issue as I can just use a concealer brush and take product from the applicator. This Concealer also contains hyaluronic acid to give all-day hydration and can cover blemishes, even out skin tone and cover those annoying dark circles.
The formula of this concealer is gorgeous, it has a slightly satin finish to it, so keeps those under eye areas lovely and fresh-looking, and the hyaluronic acid keeps the skin hydrated. It applies like a dream, stayed put all day and I had no caking on the skin either, which can sometimes happen with concealers and dry skin. A+ Revolution!

You can find the Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation & Concealer online here.

The Beauty Edit Gift With Purchase At Boots

Recently, Boots did an online and in-store offer, where if you spent £20.00 on certain makeup brands, you got a gift box full of products for free, with a value of £40.00. Now, this offer has sold out, but I thought I would show you what is inside in case they do a similar promotion in the future, and I really, really hope they do.
Firstly, we have the Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish in the shade 430 Coralicious. This is a bright pink-toned red shade which will look fabulous on the toes or finger nails. It has a nice wide brush so that application is a doddle and it dries pretty quickly, which is great for me as I hate waiting for my nails to dry as I usually end up chipping them.
We then have the Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in the shade Shabby Chic, a pretty pink-toned nude, perfect for everyday wear. The majority of these products are full-sized, as is this one and the formula is really creamy and slightly velvety, without drying the lips out.
The Maybelline Great Lash Mascara used to be such a cult beauty fave back in the day, so it is great to be able to try this out again. It has a traditional bristle brush wand and works well for an everyday lash. I wouldn't say for my fine, thin, straight lashes it does as much as other mascaras, but it will be great to take on my holidays.
Another lip product in the box is the L'Oreal Color Riche Matte Lipstick in the shade 640 Erotique. This is a rosey-toned nude, and again will work well for everyday, or for evening. I love the L'Oreal lipsticks and I haven't tried a matte one before, but this is very pigmented and not at all drying on the lips.
I love face masks, and so I was pleased to see the Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask inside the box. I have used so many of these, and they are really hydrating on the skin, which is perfect for the colder months we have ahead of us. There is also a 1.3ml sample sachet of the L'Oreal Revitalift Filler to try.
A product I haven't tried before is the Rimmel Ultimate Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Black. This is a thick crayon which has a pointed tip, and glides onto the skin effortlessly. The only problem I had with this is that when I went to use it the second time, the crayon had come out of the container so I couldn't use it again.
The final treat in the box is the NYX Lingerie Lip in the shade 21, a milk chocolate brown nude colour. The NYX Lingerie Lip products are amazing, and super creamy, and whilst this may not be everyone's cup of tea colour-wise, I really like it as this sort of shade suits my skin-tone.
I think this is one of the best things Boots has ever done. There is such a range of brands and products to try, and all but one are full-sized. I really do hope they release another version soon! You can check out Boots online here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
