Tarte Sugar Rush A+ Brush Set Review

I go through eye makeup brushes like there is no tomorrow, partly because I am always too busy/lazy to clean them all, and because I like to use a lot different colours and glitters, I can't always keep reusing them. Tarte have some of the best brushes around, and I love how they are often themed in the most unusual ways. I recently picked up the Tarte Sugar Rush A+ Brush Set.
Sugar Rush is Tarte's baby sister brand, and the majority of their products are aimed at younger girls, well, younger than me and I am 35. However, beauty has no age, and I love their fun products, and especially this school-themed brush set.
The Tarte Sugar Rush A+ Brush Set comes complete with three eye makeup brushes;
* Stay Sharp Pencil Crease Brush
* Write Your Story Round Blending Brush
* Goal Getter Tapered Blending Brush

All three brushes are both vegan and cruelty free, and the pastel pencil theme is super cute. The bristles are lovely and soft, and don't drag along the delicate area whatsoever - I have to look after those wrinkles ahead of time! The Tarte Sugar Rush A+ Brush Set costs £18.00, and has a retail value of £39.00, which I don't think is bad for high-quality makeup brushes.
At this price point, I also think this would make a great Christmas gift, whether you are treating yourself or a loved one, no matter what their age. The brushes come in a little gift box, so they are well presented, and inside they were wrapped in tissue paper.

You can find the Tarte Sugar Rush A+ Brush Set online at Tarte here.

Essence Crystal Power Collection Review + Swatches

I get so excited about new Essence releases, as they are always so fabulous, and as I have mentioned before, the prices and quality are second to none. Essence's most recent collection is the Essence Crystal Power range, which comprises of multiple products, all based around the recent crystal trend.
First up, is the Essence Crystal Power Blush & Highlighter Palette (£5.99) which has a pretty geometric design on the front, a mirror on the inside of the lid and four blushers and highlighters. The first highlighter is the shade Glowing Energy, a gorgeous champagne gold shimmer, with the second being Shine Bright, a white glitter shimmery highlighter, which reminds me of the diamond highlighter by Fenty Beauty, although at a much smaller fraction of the price. The two blush shades are also shimmery, and you get Superpower, a warm mauve shade and Inner Happiness, a rose pink shade. I was a little unsure about how Superpower would look on my light skin, as it does seem quite dark in the pan, but if I go in lightly with it, it warms the apples of my cheeks up nicely. The formula is super buttery and creamy, even though it is a powder, and the pigment is incredible, and therefore, I only need a small amount to give me a big wow factor.
Following on from that, we have the Essence Crystal Power Eyeshadow Palette (£5.99), which contains nine stunning shades which will be perfect colours for all year round. Although this palette doesn't contain a neutral transition shade, this really is a gorgeous palette. The shades included are;
Never Give Up - Bronze Shimmer
Sparkle All Day - Light Gold Shimmer
Good Vibes Only - Khaki Green Shimmer
Reach For The Stars - Mermaid Blue Shimmer
Make It Happen - Warm Terracotta Matte
Love Yourself - Rose Gold Shimmer
Chase Your Dreams - Lilac Shimmer
I've Got The Power - Purple Shimmer
Believe In Miracles - Snow White Shimmer
I love the collection of colours they have chosen, and some of the shades easily rival some of my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Shadows, as the pigment is once again, incredible and the shimmer payoff is wonderful. The shadows individually work out at just 65p each, which I doubt you can find anywhere else. I can't even choose a favourite shade as I will definitely wear them all.
For the lips, we have the Essence Crystal Power Lipstick (£2.99), which is available in just the one shade. This is due to it being a special colour-changing lipstick, and therefore works with your pH levels to create a colour that will suit your own skintone. The packaging is clear and rose gold, and the lipstick itself looks like a light pink see-through balm that contains flecks of gold glitter. It doesn't show up that well on camera, but it really is very pretty. The formula of the Lipstick contains Vitamin E, and so not only will your lips look amazing, they will also feel nourished and protected, especially at this colder time of year.
Finally, we have the Essence Crystal Power Nail Polish and at the time of writing this, I couldn't find it online, but I am sure that it will be released soon. This is shade 02 Be Strong, which says to me that there will be other shades available. Essence nail polishes are normally around £1.60-£2.00 each, which again is excellent value for money, and they are some of the best around, with such a wide range of shades and textures. The Essence Crystal Power Nail Polish in 02 Be Strong is a super glittery pink-hued champagne shade, which will look amazing for all the festive events coming up.
You can now find Essence Crystal Power collection online at Feel Unique here.

Tarte Hygge & Kisses Tarteist Remix Lipgloss Trio Review + Swatches

Tarte often do some of the most beautiful packaging, and their recent Autumnal releases are no exception. The Tarte Hygge & Kisses Tarteist Remix Lipgloss Trio come in an Alpine-knit style box, and each of the glosses themselves have a different tartan pattern on the lid, which also matches with the new Fall Feels Eye & Cheek Palette.
What better way to embrace sweater weather than with these gorgeous shimmery lipglosses? These three shades are all limited edition and are also scented with some amazingly delicious treats, and not only that, Tarte have released these shades as universally flattering on all skin tones. However, I always think that with lipgloss or lipstick sets, if there is a shade you don't particularly like, you can always give it to a friend or family member.
The Tarteist Remix Lipglosses have a formula that has been infused with hyaluronic acid to keep moisture locked into the lips, which is perfect for the colder months as I think everyone experiences dry, uncomfortable lips at some point during Autumn and Winter. Each of the three glosses, also have reflective floating glitter to add a touch of shimmer to the lips, as well as helping them appear fuller.

The three shades included are;
Candy Apple - A warming red with gold sparkle
Cinnamon - Shimmery nude with gold sparkle
Creme Brulee - Sheer gloss with lots of gold sparkle
Each of the shades are scented with the fragrance of their names, Candy Apple, Cinnamon and Creme Brulee. I think Candy Apple has to be my favourite scent as it just reminds me of Bonfire Night, but the Cinnamon shade is my favourite shade as it is a great everyday gloss, but with a touch of shimmer to it.
The Tarte Hygge & Kisses Tarteist Remix Lipgloss Trio costs £22.00, which works out at £7.33 a gloss, which I personally think is great value, especially with the formula containing hyaluronic acid to keep the lips in better condition. I also think that these would make a great Christmas gift, or you could even split the three glosses and gift them individually.

You can find the Hygge & Kisses Tarteist Remix Lipgloss Trio online at Tarte here.

Morning Glamour Satin Pillowcase Review

I have recently heard so many benefits of using satin and silk pillowcases, but some of them can be pretty extortionate. However, when I recently received the Morning Glamour Satin Pillowcase and realised it was only £12.99, I just had to try it out!
Satin and silk pillowcases are amazing for helping both the skin and hair. It doesn't matter whether I have straightened my hair or not, every single morning I wake up looking like a scarecrow, and that is no exaggeration! My old neighbour used to often laugh with me about it. That's probably why they moved haha!

My skin also gets very dried out, especially during the colder months, and satin pillowcases are great to keep moisture locked into the skin. Let's take a look at some of the amazing benefits of using the Morning Glamour Satin Pillowcase...

* Helps eliminate hair loss and reduces breakage, snagging and matting
* Non-absorbent unlike cotton pillowcases, which help your skin and hair maintain moisture
* Great for helping damaged hair
* Works well with hair extensions
* Prevents night time wrinkles
* Helps you to wake up with glowing skin and non-frizzy hair
When you apply moisturiser onto the face before bedtime, your cotton pillowcase is probably soaking that up, instead of your skin, whereas with a satin pillowcase, it doesn't do that, so your skin is reaping the benefits of your skincare rather than your pillowcase. This in turn helps your skin to look and feel much healthier and more hydrated.

The thing I was most looking forward to testing was to not wake up looking like a scarecrow. I must say that after 2 weeks of usage, my hair is looking SO much smoother and not at all scary, and even the condition of it feels so much better, which will be because the pillowcase isn't sapping my hair of all of its moisture, whilst also keeping my hair less tangled and prone to breakage.
At £12.99, the price of the Morning Glamour Satin Pillowcase is proof that you don't need to spend £100.00 on a pillowcase, and they do have a wide variety of colours and patterns available. I must say that this doesn't match my bedding, and so I would definitely choose one of the gold or beige colours in future. They also have a double pack available.

You can find the Morning Glamour Satin Pillowcase online at Makeupbox LDN here.

Barry M Paradise Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

Barry M have been killing it with the eyeshadow palette releases this year, and as soon as I saw the Barry M Paradise Eyeshadow Palette in Superdrug last month, I just had to have it, as it was filled with such wondrous shades.
The Barry M Paradise Eyeshadow Palette is pretty plainly packaged, but houses eighteen baked matte and metallic shadows. There isn't a specific colour theme that stands out, but the metallics are just out of this world and each pan holds a generous amount of shadow.

The shades included, top to bottom, left to right, as there are no names, are as follows;

Lilac metallic with a blue shift
Mint green metallic with a light gold shift
Bright blue matte
Apricot matte
Chocolate matte
Blue-toned lilac metallic
Pink metallic with a golden shift
Taupe metallic with silver glitter
Bright yellow matte
Pearl iridescent
Apple green metallic
Soft pink iridescent
Pale yellow matte
Lilac metallic with a light golden shift
Mauve metallic
Darker lilac metallic with a silver shimmer
Light gold with a blue iridescent shift
Gold metallic
It is hard to pick up on a still camera, but the iridescent shades are some of the most beautiful I have come across. I love the mixture of bold shades, pastel shades and neutrals, and even though there isn't a specific colour theme, there really is a shadow for every occasion within this palette.

As the eyeshadows are baked, they wear extremely well and are all very pigmented, and I had little to zero fall-out, even when swatching the shades for the photographs. The Paradise Palette costs just £12.99, which works out at 72p a shade, which is phenomenal value for the quality.
You can find the Barry M Paradise Eyeshadow Palette online at Barry M here.

CACI Hydro Mask & Eye Revive Mask Review

Ten years or so ago, I went back to college as a mature student (I am now 35) to study Beauty Science, as beauty, skincare, massage and more really interests me. I knew I would never go on to become a beauty therapist, but I was at a time in my life where I was able to take time out and study something that I loved. One of the best pieces of machinery we had in our second year was from CACI, which are an electrical facial company, and even back then was one of the premier companies in the business. Their facials do not come cheap, but they work and so that is why they were and are so popular. They have recently released some of their own at-home masks, and I was very kindly sent them to try them out for myself.
Starting with the CACI Hydro Mask, this is a clear gel-like mask which is kind of like a sheet mask, in the way that it comes in two parts, and you apply it on top of your skin, rather than it being a product which you would work in to the skin. The Hydro Mask has been designed to give a soothing and calming effect on the skin, which instantly reduces any redness and irritation you may have. As soon as the temperature drops, my skin gets very upset, and so this has been the perfect time of year to try this mask out. The Mask contains intensive moisturising properties, including Hyaluronic Acid and so not only does it add moisture to the skin, it also keeps that moisture locked in, to leave your skin feeling comfortable throughout the day. Another key ingredient contained within this mask is Hydrolysed Collagen, so that is going to help smooth out and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You only have to leave the mask on the face for 10-20 minutes, so whether you are snuggled up on the sofa with a blanket, or are relaxing in a warm bubble bath, this is a quick and easy treatment that will give you long-lasting, professional results. The CACI Hydro Mask costs £30.00 for five masks, working out at just £6.00 per mask, which is incredible value.
It doesn't matter what season we are in, I am forever tired, and so are my eyes. I have severe endometriosis, which means that I get tired very easily, and whether I do or don't get a good night's sleep, my eyes are constantly tired and puffy. Although, more often than not, I don't get a good night's sleep due to my anxiety issues. Therefore, eye masks are a saviour to me, as well as Liz Earle's Eyebright which I use every morning. The CACI Eye Revive Mask is like splashing a full bottle of Eyebright on at once, and is a silicone gel mask (that makes me feel a little like a superhero when I wear it), that instantly soothes and calms tired and puffy eyes. Just like the Hydro Mask, this one also contains Hyaluronic Acid, so your eyes are going to be kept super hydrated all day long, no matter what the weather or how much sleep you get. Two other key ingredients are Cucumber and Green Tea, both of which are renowned for their cooling and nourishing properties, helping to detoxify that eye area and reduce puffiness. The Eye Revive Mask also contains collagen, so again that is going to help plump up any fine lines and wrinkles you may have in the eye area. This mask can be left on for 10-20 minutes, and I wish I had an endless supply as my eyes feel 100% better after using this mask. The CACI Eye Revive Mask costs £25.00 for 5 masks, working out at £5.00 per mask, and in my opinion they are worth every penny.
You can find both of the CACI Masks online at CACI Microlift here.

Colourpop MAR Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

I placed a Colourpop order back at the end of August and one of the items I had been lusting after for ages was the Colourpop MAR Eyeshadow Palette so I added it to my order as Colourpop products are so affordable you can get quite a lot for your buck.
I have had countless Colourpop eyeshadow palettes in the past, and they never seem to let me down, and when I saw the stunning vacay-vibes of the MAR Palette, I knew I had to have it. Even though we are now in Autumn, my holiday this year is in December, so I will still want some of those gorgeous bronze tones for then.
The Colourpop MAR Palette contains nine shadows, and a mirror on the inside of the lid. The compact itself is quite plain but cute and even though it is plastic, it doesn't feel flimsy. There is a mixture of matte and shimmer shades included and as I love blues, teals, and bronzes this is definitely a winner for me.
The shades included are;
El Rey - Metallic soft peach with gold pearl
Wild One - Metallic rich orange copper
Detour - Matte cobalt
Boozy - Metallic orange with gold pearl
Gridlock - Bright teal with silver and teal glitter
Sorbet - Matte peachy soft brown
Hwy - Satin sea foam green with a gold sheen
Top Down - Matte dark chocolate
My Way - Metallic true vibrant bronze
I had a slight amount of kick back with a couple of the shades in this palette, but I think you get that with the majority of shimmer formulas in eyeshadow palettes and to me it wasn't a problem. As with all Colourpop eyeshadows I have tried, the formula is gorgeously soft and buttery and applies to the lids like a dream. I think there could have been one other transition shade included within this palette so that you got a full look, but I think it would be amazing to wet an eyeliner brush and use Gridlock or My Way as metallic eyeliners!

The Colourpop MAR Eyeshadow Palette costs $12.00/£9.63 and is available online at Colourpop here.

Max Factor Miracle Sculpting Wands Review + Swatches

Max Factor have just released a trio of highlighting and contour wands, the Max Factor Miracle Sculpting Wands for both Contour and Highlight. I am not the greatest of makeup artists when it comes to powder contour, but these wands make it super quick and easy to achieve professional results.
There are two Contour shades available, Medium Deep and the one I have here, Light Medium, which is perfect for my light skintone. The Highlight Wand is available in just the one shade, Universal, so it is able to suit the majority of skintones. The Max Factor Miracle Sculpting Wands comes in squeezy tubes, and you simply remove the lid to uncover a little sponge, you then twist the applicator to ON, and gently squeeze the tube, which you will then see the product coming out of.
The sponge applicators make it super easy to apply to the skin, and due to the squeeze factor, you can be as gentle or as generous as you like with the product. I find these so easy to apply to the skin, and the formula feels ultra soft and very easy to blend into the skin, whether you are using a Beauty Blender, brush or even your fingertips.
The Max Factor Miracle Highlight Sculpting Wand is a champagne shade and highlights the skin beautifully, without giving a sparkly effect. It turns my dull, lacklustre skin much lighter and brighter, and makes me feel so much more confident about my skin.
With the Max Factor Miracle Contour Sculpting Wand, I apply it to the areas I am wanting to contour, and then easily blend it into the skin, finishing it off with a little bit of matte bronzer. However, you do not need to use a bronzer, and sometimes I don't if I am not wanting a full makeup look.
If highlighting and contouring the face is often tricky for you, then I would definitely give these a go, as they really are so simple to use and easy to control. They both cost £10.99 each for 10ml of product and you can find them in-store and online at retailers such as Boots here. Also, it is worth checking for offers, as Boots and Superdrug often have money saving deals on Max Factor.

Rimmel Lasting Matte Primer, Foundation & Concealer Review

You guys know how much I love trying out new foundations, and Rimmel has recently released a new Lasting Matte collection featuring a Primer, and Concealer. Because I get quite an oily T-Zone, I do prefer a matte finish on a day to day basis. Let's take a closer look...
The Rimmel Lasting Matte Primer is a lightweight primer that mattifies the skin as soon as you apply it, without drying the skin out. It looks a little creamy in colour and texture, and the nearest other primer I could relate it to would be the Cover FX Gripping Primer, which costs a whole lot more than this one does. The reason I say that is because it has a very slight tackiness once it first goes on the skin, which is great for holding down your foundation and keeping it firmly in place throughout the day. Once the primer has settled into the skin, it does feel very soft and smooth, helping to improve the appearance of the skin and with it being non-comedogenic, it means that it isn't going to clog up my enlarged pores, which is definitely a plus for me. I have now tried this out on numerous occasions, and it has kept my shine in check during every single use, and with some matte products, they can be quite drying, but this definitely hasn't caused any problems with my moisture levels, keeping my skin looking and feeling healthier. The Rimmel Matte Primer costs £7.99 for 30ml.
Where can you get 30ml of quality foundation from for £7.99 these days? Not many places, that's for sure. However, the new Rimmel Lasting Matte Foundation costs just that. There are around 20 shades available, which is also great for a high-street makeup brand. This foundation is a full coverage mattifying foundation, and I know if you are anything like me, and have redness on the skin, large pores, and basically just want to erase all that out, then you are going to love this foundation. It is formulated with something called a triple balance powder technology, which absorbs twice its weight in oil so that you not only get an instant matte finish on the skin, but all throughout the day too. Just like with the primer, the Lasting Matte Foundation doesn't dry out the skin either and my skin actually feels quite hydrated whilst wearing this foundation. It has a gorgeously soft mousse-like texture and therefore feels like you are wearing nothing (on your face, obvs!), which I really enjoy as no-one likes to feel heavy makeup throughout the day. I also found this foundation to cover up my pores really well, and noticed quite a blurring effect. At this time of year I have fair skin, and I chose the shade 100 Ivory, which works really well for my skin tone, whilst also adding a little bit of warmth.
Last but certainly not least, we have the Rimmel Lasting Matte Concealer. This is available in 12 shades, which again I think is really great for a brand you can find in your local supermarket. This concealer has an ultra-light texture, which gives the most natural finish, and so you could even use this on its own without foundation, as there is no cakiness or thickness once it has blended into the skin. I love how this formula gives my undereyes almost a brightening effect whilst still keeping areas I have applied it to, matte all day long. It comes in a traditional concealer packaging, in a tube, and then there is a sponge applicator with a slanted tip, which makes it super easy to get into the crevices around the eyes, without poking yourself in the eye or getting concealer all over your contact lenses - yes I have done that many times with larger wands. If you want a mattifying concealer that is not going to budge, then I would definitely check this out. You get 7ml for £6.49, but remember, always check places like Boots and Superdrug as they often have money-saving offers.
You can find Rimmel in-stores and online at retailers such as Boots here.

I Heart Revolution Fruity Primers Review

The second part of the I Heart Revolution Fruity collection is all about the I Heart Revolution Fruity Primers, of which there are five featuring different scents and for different problems. I am lucky enough to have been able to try out all five primers and so I of course am reporting for duty, and letting you know all you need to know about these gorgeous and fun primers. I love a good primer, and I don't know what my skin looked like before we started using them, but I imagine it wasn't as good as it looks now. Because I have quite hormonal skin, sometimes I need more hydration and sometimes I need a more mattifying effect, and primers can do that.
The first one up is the I Heart Revolution Strawberry Whip Pore Blurring Primer which firstly, smells incredible. Secondly, this is great for me as I have quite enlarged pores and so I need something to give a blurring effect to my skin. Texture-wise, this is like a softer, smoother version of Benefit's Porefessional Primer, and not only is it smoother, it is much cheaper as well. As a general rule, this velvety soft texture of primer is definitely the one I prefer, however that does change daily depending on the condition of my skin.
We then have the I Heart Revolution Peach Delight Mattifying Primer, which will be great for those of you who have quite oily skin. I tend to get a little oiliness around my T-Zone area later in the day, and at these prices, you can totally mix and match. You could apply the Peach delight to your T-Zone and then one of the other primers to your cheeks. Texture-wise, this is more of a clear gel, a little like the Smashbox Original Primer and as soon as you apply it to the skin, it gives an instant mattifying effect and also works at blurring the pores too to leave a super smooth finish.
If you struggle with redness on the face, then the I Heart Revolution Mint Choc Chip Colour Correcting Primer is the one for you. It smells like Mint Choc Chip ice cream and oh my goodness I want to eat it all up! This is a green-coloured colour correcting primer, and so for me, I like to apply a little of this to my cheeks, as I get quite red cheeks, which again is hormonal. A little goes a long way with this primer, and I would say it is the most looser formula, and more cream-like and covers up redness like a dream.

When it comes to scented products, coconut and banana are my absolute favourites - it is an obsession with me and coconut. That is one of the many reasons I love the I Heart Revolution Coconut Dream Hydrating Primer. I need all the hydration I can get, especially now that the colder months are here, and this primer is just the ticket. Formula-wise, it is similar to the Mint Choc Chip Primer, in that it is slightly more watery than the thicker primers, and is a white cream that goes onto the skin clear. As soon as I apply this to my skin, it feels instantly hydrated and so I will be reaching for this a lot this Autumn and Winter.
One of my favourites just has to be the I Heart Revolution Banana Split Radiance Primer. Again, this isn't as thicker textured as the first two, and is lovely to work into the skin. From other posts, you may have gathered that I love a good pearlescent finish, and the Banana Split Primer is all about the glow. If you have dull, lacklustre skin, then this primer is going to brighten you up all day long as it has a gorgeous champagne-coloured shimmer to it and it illuminates the skin without turning you into a disco ball. All five of these primers contain Vitamins C and E, so whilst also taking care of individual problems, they will also be caring for the skin and ensuring that it is in tip top condition.

The I Heart Revolution Fruity Primers cost £6.00 each and you get 27ml of product, which I would say is definitely excellent value. You can find them online at Revolution here.
