In this instalment of his and hers fragrances, I have the Paco Rabanne Lady Million Fabulous Eau de Parfum Intense* and the Paco Rabanne 1 Million Elixir Parfum Intense*, which make a fine pairing...

Paco Rabanne Lady Million Fabulous Eau de Parfum Intense (£91.00 for 80ml) was my most used fragrance last Summer (I say Summer because I was ill for the rest of the year so perfume wasn't a priority), and it is a stunning spicy, oriental fragrance. Lady Million Fabulous comes dressed in all the gold and black glitter and is officially classed as an oriental floral fragrance, which was created to incarnate the hypnotic thrill of music and the rushing joy of dance. Super cool! The scent contains vibrant Pink Pepper, fresh Mandarin, Jasmin, Ylang-Ylang, creamy Tuberose (my favourite fragrance note), elegant Moss, Tonka Bean and rich Vanilla to create a long-lasting fragrance that provides sparkling white florals that clash with a deeply seductive base. As this is an intense parfum, you only need to use a couple of spritzes and the fragrance stays with you all day long.

If your male loved one of choice likes a fragrance that packs a punch, then the Paco Rabanne 1 Million Elixir Parfum Intense (£87.00 for 100ml) is the one! Just like its partner Lady Million Fabulous, 1 Million Elixir comes dressed in rich, decadent gold, in the shape of a gold bar as like the other 1 Million male fragrances. Hand-picked ingredients such as Turkish Damascena Rose, Osmanthus and wild grown Tonka Beans undoubtedly make this masterpiece composition stand out by the extreme quality of its raw materials. Deeply sensual, Liquorous Davana vibrates with the power of smooth Woods and Black Vanilla Seeds where supreme sensuality meets absolute long-lasting power. I do prefer to spend a little more on a high quality fragrance as it tends to last a lot longer with you not needing to spritz as much.

The I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss Collection Review + Swatches

I adore Dr Seuss - it takes me back to when I would go to Orlando as they had a full Dr Seuss land at Universal Islands of Adventure and I really miss it at the moment. So when I discovered the I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss collection, I was thrilled and instantly ordered the whole range! Here are my thoughts...

There are four eyeshadow palettes and two cheek palettes available, which you can buy separately for £7.00 each, but as I knew I wanted the whole collection I ordered the I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss Palette Collection for £36.00 (a £6.00 saving) as it includes all six palettes. The four eyeshadow palettes include Green Eggs & Ham, a pretty spring mix of corals, light greens and browns, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, a jewel-toned full shimmer palette, Oh! The Places You'll Go!, a mix of shimmer and matte shadows with a unique colour story and The Cat In The Hat, which is mainly shimmers with a couple of matte neutrals thrown in there two. Without a doubt, Green Eggs & Ham is my current favourite palette, but I know I will use the rest throughout the year, as One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish will be amazing for party season!

The palettes all come in a sweet little library style book case, and they are smaller than I imagined, but I actually prefer this as I aren't a fan of huge eyeshadow palettes and tend to always reach for smaller ones. There is a little kick back with the matte shadows, which I often find with Revolution branded shadows, but they are still very workable and give great colour payoff, and the shimmers are great, you cannot go wrong with a Revolution shimmer! I think individually, the palettes are slightly overpriced for the size, but then it is a brand collaboration, so they have to pay for that extra addition. All in all, I am super impressed and happy with this collection.

The two cheek palettes include Horton Hears A Who!, a stripey pink nude cheek duo, and Fox In Socks, a warmer, bronzed cheek duo. You can absolutely mix and match with these palettes, and even use the shades individually as eyeshadows if you are travelling and have a lack of space. Overall, the formula works really well, and there is shimmer in both palettes, so if you prefer a matte finish to your cheek products, I would maybe skip over these, but if you like a glowy look, I would definitely try them out.

Next up is the I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss Eye Crayon Collection, which retails for £12.00 for six crayons, so just £2.00 a crayon! They are also small, like the palettes, but again I have been opting for smaller makeup products recently as I never use up a full sized product due to my love for makeup. These are super cute and so easy to use - simply swipe on and go, or if you prefer a more natural look, you can blend them in using your fingertip or a makeup brush. The shades you receive include Fox in Socks - Soft Orange, Horton Hears A Who - Silver, Green Eggs & Ham - Light Green, The Cat in the Hat - Sky Blue, Oh!  The Places You'll Go - Blush Pink, and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish - Yellow Gold. At just £12.00 for the set, I would definitely recommend picking these up as you can create endless amount of looks with the six colours provided.

Even though they aren't makeup items, my favourite thing from the collection is the I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss Thing 1 & Thing 2 Brush Set. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are my favourites from Dr Seuss, and if you have been to Universal Studios, you will have seen a lot of people walking around in 'Thing' t-shirts, and yes I was one of them! This brush set instantly reminds me of the naughty pair, with the blue hair/brush hairs, and the red and white clothing/brush handle. I love them so much I bought two sets! The duo includes a soft powder brush which is great for applying setting powder, bronzer and blush, and a stippling brush perfect for buffing and blending cream products into the skin. I have been using the stippling brush to blend in my cream bronzer (current favourite product), and the bristles are so soft yet well-packed and they do such a great job!

Finally, are the lip glosses - the I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss Horton Hears A Who Lip Gloss, the I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss Fox in Socks Lip Gloss and the I Heart Revolution x Dr Seuss Oh! The Places You'll Go! Lip Gloss. Each retails at £6.00 and you get a good amount of product in each. The Lip Glosses have a large, soft, sponge-tipped applicator, which makes it super quick and easy to apply, and the formula isn't sticky or gloopy, just glossy on the lips. Horton Hears A Who is a pretty pink coral shade with shimmer, Fox in Socks has a beautiful ballerina pink shimmer to it and Oh! The Places You'll Go! is a peachy orange shimmer that will look amazing with a summer tan! Each one has sweet little colourful illustrations on the lid from the books which I fully appreciate!

My Ark Skincare Favourites

Whilst I was recovering from my surgeries, Ark Skincare very kindly sent me some products which I have been trying out over the weeks and so I wanted to share with you some of my favourite Ark Skincare products...

First up, I adore the Ark Skincare Skin Perfector Detoxifying Clay Masque* (£36.00 for 55ml), which comes in a high quality glass jar along with a metal applicator for you to apply the product with. This luxurious dual clay formula contains a multivitamin blend and an innovative anti-pollution complex. The Masque has been formulated to target inflammation and blemishes and absorbs oils, drawing out impurities and loosening and lifting away skin damaging pollution particles to leave the skin visibly clear, calm and soft to the touch. This Masque is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin and is 100% vegan. I like to use this once or twice a week, mostly twice a week when my skin is hormonal, applying a thin layer to cleansed skin, sitting back and relaxing for 5-10 minutes and then removing with a warm, damp cloth. Key ingredients include Kaolin and Bentonite Clays which work together to absorb excess oils and draw out further impurities, White Tea which acts as a powerful antioxidant and astringent, Wild Water Mint which tightens the skin, Vitamin A which works as a free radical scavenger, Vitamin C to brighten the skin and finally, Vitamin E which is a natural skin conditioner and antioxidant. If you have blemish-prone skin, this will work wonders to help control excess sebum and keep your skin smoother and brighter.

If you suffer from dull, dry skin then I would absolutely recommend the Ark Skincare Skin Perfector Hydration Injection Masque* (£35.00 for 75ml). This Masque comes in a squeezy tube and the formula is more of a gel-cream consistency with a beautiful light scent to it. This is a luxury facial hydration masque that is going to quench dry skin and restore vibrancy into the skin. It can be used once or twice a week to drench the skin with moisture and protect against future moisture loss. The bioactive ingredients ensure skin looks rested, restored to health, and has a youthful glow to it. The formula includes Vitamin A to keep the skin supple, Vitamin B5 to deeply hydrate and provide smoothness, Vitamin C to brighten, Vitamin E to soothe and offer antioxidant protection, as well as Hyaluronic Acid to drench the skin and keep moisture locked in and Sugar Beet and Abyssinian Oil to nourish the skin to give it a luxurious silky feel to it. Suitable for all skin types, and for both men and women, all you need to do is apply a thin layer to cleansed skin, and then depending on your age, leave on for between 5 and 20 minutes, or overnight for a more intensive treatment and then removed with a warm wet cloth for super hydrated and juicy skin.

Ark Skincare have different skincare regimes and products for different age groups. As I am 38, the Age Defend collection is most suitable for myself as it is formulated for those in their 30s and 40s. One of my favourite products from that range is the Ark Skincare Age Defend Regenerating Night Treatment* (£42.00 for 55ml). This Night Treatment aids the natural repair process as you sleep and combats the signs of everyday stress. The vegan formulation contains bioactive ingredients to detoxify and repair, to boost hydration and elasticity, and to soothe and reduce sensitivity. The Age Defend Night Treatment can also be used around the eyes to reduce the signs of fatigue such as dark circles, so it really is a two-in-one product! Coenzyme Q10 acts as an antioxidant and free radical scavenger to stabilise and support the skin and reduce the signs of ageing and wrinkle formation, whilst Kiwi Seed Oil and Shea Butter deeply moisturises the skin and Passionfruit Seed Oil is rich in fatty acids with anti inflammatory properties to help alleviate signs of stress. Vitamin A Palmitate acts as a free radical scavenger and ensures healthy skin regeneration, Blue Lotus provides antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties to soothe sensitive and irritated skin and Persian Silk Tree Extracts reduces the signs of fatigue, minimising dark circles and under eye bags. As the name suggests, this treatment is to be used at night after cleansing and toning and after applying your serum, massaging the cream into your face and neck.

Even though I don't have wrinkles just yet, my lips are naturally quite thin and have little lines in them, and so one product I always make sure to use on a daily basis is the Ark Skincare Skin Essential Advanced Action Plumping Lip Cream* (£32.00 for 15ml). This is an intensive moisturising lip cream that has been designed to hydrate and repair dry and cracked lips as well as plumping and smoothing the surrounding skin area. It can be used overnight as an intensive plumping lip treatment and during the day as a moisturising lip cream to protect against the drying effects of extreme weather conditions. The Lip Cream smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, soothing the lips and protecting against moisture loss. It is formulated using clinically-proven plumping Peptides which increase lip volume and hydration, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, Macadamia Lipids, which help to restore the skin's hydrolipidic film, maintaining softness and preventing dryness, and Allantoin to moisturise and soothe, which is especially good for sensitive lips. I personally have never had a lip enhancing treatment, but I do know that if you do have that kind of procedure, a high quality lip treatment is needed to take care of them and this would be the perfect product as it is suitable for all ages and for all skin types, even sensitive skin.

When I came out of the hospital, my hands were incredibly dry and regular hand cream was doing absolutely nothing to help, until I tried the Ark Skincare Body Beautiful Intensive Hand & Nail Cream* (£20.00 for 75ml). The Hand & Nail Cream comes in a squeezy tube, and is a good, handy size to keep by your bed, at your desk, in your car or in your handbag. This is a rich, nourishing hand and nail cream that contains Raspberry and Cocoa Butter to intensely hydrate and protect the skin and nails against moisture loss. The formula soothes dry and irritated hands, reinforcing the skin's natural moisture barrier leaving them instantly soft and fresh. Key ingredients include an Omega Fruit Lipid blend to hydrate the skin, Red Algae to target brown spots, and Amino Acids to encourage strong healthy nails. It has a fresh natural fragrance which doesn't aggravate dry, irritated skin and will work on even the most sensitive of skins. Simply massage the product well into clean hands, nails and cuticles any time you need to, and especially before bed time so that you wake up to beautifully soft nails.

 *This post contains gifted items.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, since having my surgeries, my skin has been deeply dehydrated as I just wasn't well enough to care for my skin along with all of my goodness going to the places where repair was most needed. Another beautiful serum I have to share with you today is the SkinSense Hydranet Bi-Phase Cell Renewal Serum*.

This was first released back in Summer 2021 and it comes in a beautiful glass bottle the colour of the Caribbean sea, with a silver pump dispenser for ease of use. The Serum has a fresh yet delicate fragrance to it and the texture feels very hydrating on the skin. It has been created to speed up the renewal process of the skin and contains cold-pressed, fresh Avocado, Sweet Almond and Rice Oils and can help with pigmentation on the skin as well as leaving it looking and feeling plump and radiant.

This mixture of plant based actives prepare, protect and regenerate the skin's natural barrier function and is light and easy to apply. Based on probiotic technology, ProRenew ComplexCLR influences the speed and quality of epidermal growth and has been show to effectively promote cell turnover, as Tremella Mushroom Extract stimulates collagen production and smooths rough skin.

As this is a bi-phase Serum, you need to give it a little shake before each use to combine the ingredients and you then dispense a few drops into the palms of the hands and then press gently into the face and neck. Suitable for all skin types, this can even be used on sensitive skin, both morning and evening after you have cleansed and toned, and before you apply your moisturiser.

The SkinSense Hydranet Bi-Phase Cell Renewal Serum retails for £30.00 for 30ml, and so you get a good amount and it will last a long time as you only need a small amount per application. You can find it online here.

 *This post contains gifted items.

I am back with another post from The Good Zest Co, a brand which uses organic ingredients and are eco-conscious, plastic-free, vegan and cruelty free with a huge emphasis on respect for all living things. Their products are kind to the skin and are designed to tread softly on the earth, with all of their packaging being either recycled, renewable and/or biodegradable. The Good Zest Co use aluminium bottles which are more sustainable than plastic and are refillable - in fact, if you return your empty aluminium bottles to them they will give you 10% off your next order.

The first product I wanted to mention is The Good Zest Co Organic Body Oil* (£14.95 for 150ml), a hand-blended organic oil that is made up of just seven natural ingredients, all chosen for their unique abilities that will hydrate, soften and nourish the skin. This Grapefruit-fragranced oil is suitable for all skin types, but is particularly beneficial to those with dry or sensitive skin, and it comes in a glass bottle with either a screw cap or pump applicator, depending on which you prefer. Key ingredients include Almond Oil to improve the skin tone and texture and reduce the appearance of scars, Apricot Oil, which has a high content of antioxidants which is especially great for mature or dry skin as it deeply nourishes and softens the skin, Grapeseed Oil to improve the moisture levels of the skin, therefore reducing fine lines, wrinkles and sun spots, Evening Primrose Oil to soothe the skin and strengthen the skin's barriers to reduce moisture loss, Rosehip Oil which will also help to improve the moisture levels of the skin whilst giving a healthy look to the skin, and Pomegranate Oil to penetrate deeply into the skin and soothe dry skin. No nasties, no artificial colours or fragrances, just natural goodness. You can use this on the skin, in the hair, or even add a little to your bath for the most luxurious velvet-soft skin.

One of their newest products is The Good Zest Co Hydrating Body Balm* (£12.95 for 30g), which comes in a little glass pot and a natural pouch to keep it stored in, which is great for keeping in your handbag or for travelling with. The Hydrating Body Balm has been formulated using nourishing plant oils and butters that immediately soften the skin, helping to improve the appearance of scars and uneven skin tone, whilst also supporting the skin's natural ability to heal. In addition to skin-friendly ingredients like Cocoa Butter, Organic Jojoba and Evening Primrose Oils, the Body Balm is infused with Orange and Clementine Essential Oils which leaves the skin smelling beautifully. A little goes a long way with this Balm, and I have been using a small amount on all of my surgery scars, and it has definitely helped to reduce the amount of redness and the harshness of my scars.

The Good Zest Co also create the most beautifully scented candles, which make the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one. The Good Zest Co Relaxing Organic Lime & Bergamot Candle* (£12.95) comes in a metal tin, and as soon as you remove the lid you can smell that zingy, creamy goodness. It has a natural wick and has little pieces of lime settled into the top of the candle, which I found a lovely little touch. This fragrance is all about uplifting your spirits, energising your mind and promoting a positive attitude. It has plenty of burn time in it and of course it contains certified organic and natural ingredients.

You can find The Good Zest Co online here, and if you use the code KATHRYN15 you will receive 15% off your order, with no minimum spend.

Jean Paul Gaultier So Scandal! & Scandal Eau De Toilette Review

Tuesday 22 March 2022

 *This post contains gifted items.

I often feature fragrance, but most of the time it tends to be women's, unless I am doing a Father's Day Gift Guide, but I was recently very kindly sent the Jean Paul Gaultier So Scandal! Eau de Parfum* and the Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Eau de Toilette Pour Homme*, which my Dad was thrilled about by the way, so I thought why not do a matching his and hers fragrance post!

The Jean Paul Gaultier So Scandal! Eau de Parfum (£79.99 for 80ml), is in keeping with other Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances, arriving in a beautiful velveteen tin, with the bottle having some fancy gold legs popping out of the top! So Scandal! is a fragrance that adds class and a beautiful depth of scent without being overpowering, so you could of course wear it both day and night.

This intoxicating scent contains a burst of Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Tuberose (my favourite), which strike the senses with a sensual elegance. The addiction of its milky notes intoxicatingly envelopes them with an addictive floral silage. So Scandal! is one of those fragrances that people will notice as your signature scent, so be prepared to be asked which perfume you are wearing!

The male counterpart is the Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Eau de Toilette Pour Homme (£72.99 for 100ml), which comes luxuriously packaged in the red velveteen box, and comes complete with a golden crown on the top of the bottle. Scandal is an energising and addictive fragrance with a modern woody oriental scent that sure does pack a punch! I would even wear this, it is so delicious.

The fragrance opens with freshness - sage and full-fruit mandarin sharpening the senses. Roasted tonka beans and caramel are at the heart adding to the masculine energy and the sensual base draws on notes of vetiver and cedar. It is good to know that this eco-friendly scent uses 59% less glass, 46% less plastic and 64% less packaging than previous JPG fragrances.

You can find Jean Paul Gaultier So Scandal! and Scandal online here.
