Spring Beauty 2018: What’s New?

Thursday 19 April 2018

The world of beauty never sleeps, there are new releases every single day from endless brands, and so I wanted to share with you some of my recent purchases which I have been loving, including Kat Von D, L’Oreal, Benefit, Becca, MAC and Essence.
Starting with the Kat Von D Metal Crush Extreme Highlighter Palette £32, which isn’t new for Spring, but something which I recently bought and have been obsessed with. This limited edition highlighter palette is super sparkly, even on the outside, and contains three metallic shades to give those cheekbones light-catching dimension. The three shades within the palette include Gammaray, a prismatic peach with pink and gold crystals, Helix, an ethereal opal with gold and silver crystals, and Roseshock, a pearlescent pink with lavender and pink crystals. The unique formula features liquid-powder technology so they apply smooth and creamy even though they are powders and blend into the skin beautifully.
As mentioned in previous posts, my eyelashes are naturally short, straight, fair and fine and so with all mascaras I religiously use the Lancome Cils Booster XL lash primer. After the release of the L’Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara, I found it to be one of my most reached for mascaras, and so when I recently saw the release of the L’Oreal Paradise Extatic 2-in-1 Mascara Primer, I couldn’t wait to try it out. At just £9.99 it is less than half the price of the Lancome one, and does the job just as well. This product adds volume to the lashes, and is enriched with jojoba oil and vitamins to care for your lashes too. It does go onto the lashes white so it isn’t a treatment you could wear on its own, yet makes an excellent primer for your mascara to take your lashes to the next level.
The Benefit Box Powders are something I have used for as long as I can remember, and when I saw the Benefit Gold Rush Blush Powder £25.50, I knew I had to have it, as their Rockateur Blush is one of my most-used blush products as I love anything with a rosey gold finish to it on the cheeks. This golden-nectar blush gives a natural-looking warm glow to the cheeks and it is honestly so, so beautiful as it has specks of light gold sparkle running throughout it, and I can definitely see this being one of my most-used Summer products! Gold Rush is definitely my favourite blush from Benefit so far, even beating Rockateur.
When it comes to face powders, a lot of them can look cakey on my skin as I have quite dry skin on my cheeks, yet when I saw the Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder £32, I wanted to give it a whirl as it is a setting powder to keep your makeup looking fresh all day, but is also revitalising on the skin to give it the benefits of a setting spray. It is ultra-translucent on the skin and therefore is suitable for all skin tones, and gives a stunning invisible finish with light-reflecting particles to blur fine lines and imperfections. Hydra-Mist has been formulated with 50% water and glycerine to ensure it doesn’t dry on the skin, and comes in a pot which has an extra lid underneath to keep the product fresh. It feels super bizarre to touch in the pot as it looks powdery but feels so cooling and soothing to the touch, and doesn’t leave that cakey looking residue once applied.
MAC certainly know how to smash it with collaborations, and I eyed up this stunning Padma Lakshmi Eye Shadow Quad in the colour way Desert Dusk £35. It is slightly expensive compared to the regular MAC eyeshadow palettes, but I was really interested in the colours. The packaging is very different to the regular MAC standard black packaging, with its gilded luxe decorative compact and comes complete with a mirror on the inside of the lid. Desert Dusk consists of a sparkly gold, a peachy pink, a sparkly sky blue and a deep brown, which could also be used as a brow shade in all honesty. However, it was the peach and blue combination that won my heart as I have been loving anything peach-toned on my eyes at the moment. As mentioned, a little pricey but it is definitely a lovely treat purchase.
Possibly my bargain of the month, we finally have the Essence You Better Work! Primer* at just £3.50. Essence is one of my favourite high-street budget friendly brands and their Princess Lash Mascara has been my go-to for about two years now. The You Better Work! Primer has been created for those who frequent the gym, and even though I don’t it is sweat proof so I thought it would make an excellent Spring/Summer primer. As well as being sweat proof, it also contains an SPF20 which is also great if you spend time in the sun, as it is going to keep your skin protected and gives a beautiful instant blur effect, great for large pores or and skin irregularities or unevenness. The primer does come out of the tube blue, but once blended into the skin goes clear and I was super impressed with the longevity of this, as it kept my makeup in place all day long.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
