Maybelline x Puma Collaboration Review + Swatches

Sunday 10 March 2019

I am not going to lie, when I first heard Maybelline and Puma were doing a makeup collaboration together I had no intention of buying any of the products. Why? Well, because I am an Adidas girl through and through. I kid you not. But when I saw the lilac packaging and started to read some good reviews about some of the products, I got suckered in. But I'm sure glad I did.
The collection consists of a mascara, a highlighter, a face duo stick, five liquid lipsticks and three eyeshadow duo sticks. So it is fairly compact, but I like that about it, sometimes large amounts of choices can be too much. I ordered these online as I live in a small town and they didn't have them in my local Superdrug, but I am really happy with my colour choices.

Starting with the Maybelline x Puma Smudgeproof Mascara (£8.99), which is only available in the shade Very Black. The packaging is cute with a lilac tube and a metallic lid along with neon orange branding. The wand has natural bristles rather than the plastic ones which I prefer, and I must admit I really enjoyed this mascara. It was in no means the best in the world, but I have quite thin, short, fair and straight eyelashes so nothing is ever going to look amazing on my lashes. I would definitely stand by the fact that this mascara is budgeproof and smudgeproof - there was no flaking, and no clumpiness and if you have normal lashes (unlike mine), then this will really open up your eyes.
The product I was most looking forward to trying is the Maybelline x Puma Chrome Powder Highlight (£8.99), which comes in just the one shade Knockout. This is a limited edition shade and it is SO pretty, it is a soft pink/peach full of iridescent gold and peach shimmer running throughout it and the pigment is top notch. The pan is a great size, and I think £8.99 is such a good price to pay, especially for a cult brand like Maybelline.
As I mentioned, the Maybelline x Puma Superstay Matte Ink Lipstick (£9.99) is available in five shades, including a pink, a nude, a mauve, a berry and a darker purple. I opted for the pink shade, Shade 10 Epic, which isn't overly pink, but a nice everyday shade. Firstly, I really wasn't keen on the applicator I just don't think it made it easy and comfortable to apply the lipstick. But with regards to the lipstick itself, the colour was super pretty and the formula looked great on my lips - there was no dryness there, no cracking and it definitely stayed on for a good amount of time - there was no budging it! I would definitely love to see them release more shades.
Finally, I tried out the Maybelline x Puma Eyeshadow Duo Stick (£7.99) in the shade Warrior + Flow, and this ended up being my favourite product from the collection. There are three colourways available, and each one comes with a matte cream shadow on one end and a shimmer on the other. Warrior + Flow consists of a matte greige and the prettiest lilac shimmer on the other end - I was really impressed when I tried these out as the pigment is incredible and you only need a quick swipe for full coverage. I like to use the shades individually or I will go in with the matte shade all over the lid and then add the shimmer in the corners of my eyes as a highlighter.
You can find the Maybelline x Puma collaboration in store and online at Superdrug.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
