Beauty Travel Essentials - Winter Edition

Wednesday 4 December 2019

So, on the 9th December, I am going to Orlando, and I am so excited! I go 1-2 times a year and after a pretty bad year this year, I am more than ready for my holiday in my favourite place. I always pack light because I like to bring lots of lovely things home with me, and so smaller, travel-sized products are a must for me. I have put together some of my favourites that I will be either taking in my hand luggage or in my main suitcase.
First up, is my favourite foundation, which now comes in travel size - the IT Cosmetics CC+ Full Coverage Cream*. I use the original and the Illuminating version all year round and what I love about this product is that it contains SPF50, so it is going to keep my skin protected from the sunshine and it lasts all day long, even in warmer weather. The new travel size costs just £13.00 for 12ml, which is also a great opportunity for you to try out the product before you buy a full size if you have been contemplating doing so. You can find it online at IT Cosmetics here.
Planes can be rather smelly, and I am always super conscious of making sure that I smell delightful, so I am going to be popping one of the Clean Reserve Eau De Parfum Travel Sprays* in my hand luggage. Clean Reserve creates some of the most unique and divine fragrances, and these travel-sized versions look just as beautiful as the full-size. Here, I have the scents Warm Cotton, which is a super fresh, cosy fragrance, and Rain, which is also quite a fresh, warming scent. Each bottle contains 20ml of fragrance, which is really amazing, and this would easily last you a fortnight as you don't need as much perfume per spritz as it is an eau de parfum so is more highly concentrated. You can find them online at Space NK here.
I always include Palmer's body care and skincare products in my travel essentials posts as they are such great, reliable products and great for keeping the skin in tip top condition whether you are in a hot or cold climate. Here, I have included some products which I will be taking in my main suitcase, such as the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Deep Conditioning Protein Pack* (£2.09) to protect my hair after a day in the pool and sunshine, the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm* (£1.99) as it has SPF15 so will be protecting my lips from the sunshine, the Palmer's Shea Formula Raw Shea Hand Cream* (£2.49), as my hands always get really dry after being in the pool so much, the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick Ultimate Moisture* (£4.49) which is great for keeping in my bag throughout the day as I do tend to get quite dry on my arms, and finally, the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Skin Therapy* (£1.45) as it can be used all over the face and body for when skin is super dry or irritated. You can find Palmer's in-store and online at Superdrug here.
As I mentioned, my hair gets really quite dry from the chlorine in the pool, and so I am also going to be taking this Hask Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Hair Oil (£2.49) with me. I got this in a beauty box and thought it was the perfect size for taking on holiday with me. All you have to do is apply a small amount to either wet or dry hair, and leave it in the hair without rinsing it out. It then nourishes and moisturises the hair to help it restore back to good health and look super shiny and glossy. You can find it in-store and online at Superdrug here.
I love a bright nail polish, and this holiday is the perfect excuse to add some neon to my toes! I cannot wait to be wearing my flip flops again. I am in love with the Revolution Neon Nail Polish* (£4.00) in the shade Zesty, a really bright neon yellow. This formula dries down really quickly which I love as I have no patience for waiting for my nails to dry. I am going to be having my finger nails Shellac'd but I am going to be applying this to my toes as I just love bright colours. You can find it online at Revolution Beauty here.
This time of year is great for getting travel sized products as there are so many great festive gift sets. I love the Kat Von D Kitten Eyes Gift Set* (£15.00), as I have been wanting to try out the new Kat Von D Go Big Or Go Home Mascara and this is the perfect opportunity. You also receive the Kat Von D Cake Pencil in Black, in a very cute size, so I will also be taking that with me. I love the sweet cat packaging, as I am a huge cat fan, and this would make such a lovely gift. Even when it comes to makeup products I like to take smaller versions as otherwise my makeup bag can get quite heavy and I love to bring new makeup back home with me. You can find the Kat Von D Kitten Eyes gift set in-store or online at Debenhams here.
Once on the plane I always like to remove my makeup, and apply some skincare, as the air conditioning literally sucks all the moisture out of my skin and it feels awful. So I always pop a small bottle of makeup remover in my hand luggage so that I can take off my makeup. I love the SVR Physiopure Cleansing Micellar Water* (£2.40) as it means all I need is a cotton pad rather than a foaming face wash where I would have to go use the sink. You get 75ml of product, so it is still well within the flight guidelines, and it is a pure and mild formula so it is suitable for the majority of skin types. You can find it online at Sanareva here.
I recently had my hair cut and coloured, and unfortunately the cut is really bad, even though I went to quite a high end hair salon. It was a new stylist and I look like I have a bob on top of long hair. It really isn't good, so I am having to do a lot of half-up/half-down hairstyles at the moment and so I am going to be taking the Lee Stafford Hair Up Styling Brush* (£5.99) with me on holiday so that I can have my hair half-up/half-down, but with some added volume as my hair is naturally quite fine, so it needs something amazing like this brush to add some volume and texture. You can find it in-store or online at Boots here.
Do any of you have a holiday fragrance? Like a scent that you instantly smell and it reminds you of being on holiday? I love to take a new fragrance with me on holiday so that I can have that moment when I am home and have the holiday blues. This year I am taking the delicious Michael Kors Wonderlust Sublime Eau De Parfum* (£49.00 for 30ml) with me as 30ml is a good size for travelling with and I am there for 2 weeks. Wonderlust Sublime contains top notes of Orange Flower, heart notes of Dianthus and Tiare Flower and base notes of Amber, so it is a really beautiful fragrance, with both warmth and brightness with that Orange Flower in there. You could easily wear this as both a day time and evening fragrance and so this will be perfect for my holiday. You can find it in-store and online at Boots here.
As I mentioned, Christmas gift sets are great for trying new products or for getting travel-sized products for your travels, and so I wanted to include some of the gorgeous Christmas gift sets from No7.
I will be taking the No7 Amazing Skin Book Of Masks* (£10.00) with me in my hand luggage as I can then apply them on the plane as they are all sheet-style masks so I don't have to remove any product with water. You receive the Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum Boost Sheet Mask, the Instant Results Revitalising Hydrogel Eye Masks and the Instant Results Revitalising Peel-Off Mask, which I will probably take in my main suitcase.
The No7 Glamorous Lip & Eye Purse* (£12.50) is also handy for on the plane as it comes in a gorgeous metallic blue pouch which I can pop other products in, and then you get smaller sizes of the The Full 360 Mascara and the High Shine Lip Crayon in the shade Rosy Blush, so just before landing I can apply a little mascara and lip colour to ensure I look fresher than I probably feel.
As I like to take my makeup off on the plane, I also like to keep my skin hydrated so also in my hand luggage I will be taking the products from the No7 The Protect & Perfect Duo* (£14.00). Inside you receive 25ml of the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Day Cream and 3ml of the No7 Laboratories Line Correcting Booster Serum, both of which are the perfect size for travelling and keeping my skin looking and feeling well-nourished. These gifts are part of the Boots 3 for 2 gifting, and you can find them in-store and online at Boots here.
For skincare whilst I am on holiday, I still don't like to take full sizes as it just isn't necessary, so I am going to be taking some of the Antipodes Mini Skincare products in my suitcase. Antipodes is an organic skincare brand from New Zealand and they make some of the most incredible skincare. Some of my favourites include the Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream* (£7.99 for 15ml), a super nutritious cream which is formulated with native New Zealand Manuka Honey, a powerful antibacterial agent which assists in keeping the skin completely clean and well-moisturised, and the Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream* (£8.99 for 15ml), which is a potent anti-blemish, anti-fungal and antioxidant-rich overnight cream which replenishes the skin throughout the night and keeps dry skin at bay. Antipodes also have some incredible serums and oils, which also come in smaller, travel-friendly sizes. These include the Antipodes Worship Skin Defence Antioxidant Serum* (£12.49 for 10ml), which fortifies skin cells against early ageing and free radical damage and acts as a really great skin booster, and the Antipodes Divine Face Oil* (£7.99 for 10ml) which gives the skin a burst of hydration, whilst also minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and scarring. You only need a small amount of product too when using the serums and each one comes with a glass dropper so that you can control the amount of product you are using. You can find Antipodes online at Feel Unique here.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx

  13. When David and Charlie went into a bakery in Denver Colorado in 2012 to order a wedding cake, they didn’t know they would end up in a court battle with the baker. In February 2019, Anna and Amanda tried to arrange a wedding photographer and ended up on the six o’clock news. Sometimes it seems like we are still living in the dark ages. But now there is THEAPP! But, How does THEAPP work? THEAPP works very much like the commercially available “Entertainment Guide” with two very significant differences. The Entertainment Guide serves the general public and does not distinguish between LGBTQ friendly businesses and those that may in fact be hostile towards members of the community. It is important that our members know they are visiting and patronizing merchants who are accepting and ready to provide an enriching and positive experience. The purpose of THEAPP is to provide a safe and friendly experience for both the merchant AND the members they serve. The other distinction between commercially available Entertainment Guides and THEAPP, is those guides charge you to use them, THEAPP is completely FREE to use and is supported by LGBTQ friendly merchants themselves.
