Jeffree Star Blood Lust Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

Friday 20 March 2020

I am pretty sure I have mentioned in another post why I am not such a huge Jeffree Star fan anymore, but that aside, I still love his makeup, and when I saw the Jeffree Star Blood Lust Eyeshadow Palette, I knew I had to get in that online Beauty Bay queue and order it.
The majority of Jeffree's palettes have always been quite statement pieces, almost like decor rather than just a cardboard palette housing some eyeshadows, and this is probably one of the most luxe so far. The Blood Lust Palette is a regal purple crushed velvet hexagonal case, which features a gold crown on the front and a gold fastener. You open up the palette to reveal a mirror on the inside of the lid and eighteen eyeshadow pans.
It is worth mentioning that this palette retails for £54.00, which works out at £3.00 per shadow. I know a lot of people have complained about the price of this palette, but Jeffree Star aside, his eyeshadow formula is always spot on. Would I rather pay less money and not have such an extravagant casing and such good quality eyeshadows? No, not at all. I know that previously I have mentioned I don't like big palettes, but at least with Jeffree's, you can put them on display.
Okay, so on to the actual shadows themselves, of which there are eighteen, and they come in a variety of textures, including mattes, metallics, foils and extreme wet, which is a new formula from the brand. There is obviously a pink and purple theme to this palette, but there are some surprises too, with a pop of teal green, a black and a bright red. On to the shades themselves...
Your Majesty - Bone white matte
Take The Crown - Icy lavender metallic
Deviant - Lavender matte
Beauty Sleep - Gold pink duo chrome
Wet Jewel - Reflective light pink metallic (the new extreme wet formula)
Royal Pain - Warm rose pink matte
Dungeon - Dark plum matte
Scandal Water - Cornflower blue matte
Sworn Enemy - Metallic gold-green with glitter shift
Pink Magic - Reflective pink purple high shimmer (the new extreme wet formula)
Bleeding Heart - Metallic bright red
Executioner - Black matte with a purple pink glitter shift
High King - Berry purple matte
Vivid Mood - Hot lavender purple matte
Monarchy - Taupe matte
Blood Queen - Bright purple matte
Vile Serpent - Teal matte
Betrayal - Light purple with duo chrome gold shift
I do love the shade range of this palette - I often wear pink and purple shadows anyway, so this was a great addition to my makeup collection for me. All of my swatches were done with just one swipe, which shows the pigmentation and quality of the shadows. At the time of writing, this is currently out of stock at Beauty Bay, which is the only UK Jeffree Star retailer, but you can find it online here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
