The Ordinary The Balance Set Skincare Review

 This post contains gifted items.

I am sure by now you will have heard of or even tried skincare products from The Ordinary. They offer affordable skincare that really works, including some of the best, most effective ingredients out there. Today I will be showcasing The Ordinary The Balance Set*.

The Balance Set retails at just £23.00 and includes four full-sized products, including the Squalane Cleanser (50ml), Salicylic Acid 2% Masque (50ml), Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (30ml) and Natural Moisturising Factors + HA (30ml). The Squalane Cleanser is a gentle cleanser that is formulated to remove makeup whilst leaving the skin feeling smooth and moisturised. The formula includes Squalane, alongside other lipophilic esters that are gentle and efficient in removing makeup and impurities. To use, you rub a small amount in the palms of your hands for around 10-30 seconds, and whilst doing so, the Cleanser has a textural change from a balm-like consistency to a clear oil-like consistency. This allows the sucrose esters to trap and blend the dissolved makeup and impurities with water for rinsing. The Squalane Cleanser is gentle enough for daily use, without over-drying the skin and is suitable for all skin types.

The Salicylic Acid 2% Masque contains 2% Salicylic Acid, Vegetable Charcoal, Amazonian Clays and Squalane, and is formulated to target lacklustre tone and texture problems on the skin. The formula is infused with charcoal and clays to enhance the appearance of the complexion, and the structure of the Salicylic Acid facilitates its lipophilicity and miscibility with the lipids located on the surface of the skin. It is amazing at removing dead skin cells on the surface of oily and blemish-prone skin. Charcoal and clays are renowned for their deep cleansing properties and they aid the removal of impurities that would otherwise remain on the skin and clog up the pores. To see results, you only have to apply the mask 1-2 times a week, leaving the mask on for no longer than ten minutes and then rinsing well, to leave the skin evened out and refreshed.

You then receive the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, which is a high-strength vitamin and mineral blemish formula and reduces the appearance of blemishes and congestion. It contains a high 10% concentration of Vitamin B3 to balance out any sebum and oiliness on the skin. This treatment comes in a glass bottle with a dropper applicator and so you can easily control the amount of product you are releasing and you only need to apply a few drops onto the skin in the morning and evening, pressing the product gently into the complexion. This is one of my favourite treatments for clearing up blemish-prone skin as you see pretty quick results and it is so quick and easy to incorporate into your skincare routine.

The final step in this kit is the Natural Moisturising Factors + HA. Surface moisturising factors are elements that keep the outer layer of the skin hydrated and protected, and they are made up of multiple amino acids, fatty acids, trigylcerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, saccharides, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid and many other compounds that are naturally present in the skin. The formula offers non-greasy hydration with both immediate and lasting results with continued use. I like to apply this in both the morning and evening and it is super hydrating, so my skin always feels so soft and cared for.
