The Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson Makeup Collection Review + Swatches

Monday 25 April 2022

Bobbi Brown makeup has been a long time staple for me and there haven't been a tonne of new releases over the past few years, but when I saw the new Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson collaboration, I knew I just had to pick up a few pieces.

The packaging is just beautiful and very Spring-like, which is one of my favourite times of the year. The first item I picked up is the Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson Mini Highlighting Powder (£21.00 for 4g) in the shade Pink Glow. I chose the Mini version as I never go through a full-sized highlighter and so when I saw the Mini option, I was thrilled as then I am not wasting makeup and it costs me less! Pink Glow is not a new shade from Bobbi Brown, but it is one that suits my complexion beautifully. The Highlighter has the floral Ulla Johnson pattern on the front of the compact, a mini mirror on the inside of the lid and then the powder has been embossed with flowers. This is Bobbi Brown's best-selling highlighter shade, and fuses the benefits of a gel and powder, so that the formula glides over the skin to give a smooth, refined look. Microfine pearls are suspended in a pure, crystal-clear base to diffuse light with colour, reflecting a lit-from-within glow, which is always my favourite kind of glow. Even though I know and love this Highlighter, and have had it before, the reason I re-purchased is because my old one had gone past its best, so I am super happy to have it in my collection again!

I then chose the Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson Dual-Ended Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick (£34.00 for 1.6g), which is available in two colour options - Sun Pearl & Soft Bronze, and the one I have here, Opal and Golden Pink. Sometimes, we just need quick, easy makeup that performs well, and these Shadow Sticks are the perfect option as you just swipe over the eyelids and off you go! The Sticks provide eight hours of budge-proof, waterproof and crease-proof wear and can be applied in seconds! Golden Pink is a pretty, soft pink with shimmer and Opal is an opalescent white with a pink shift, so they work beautifully alone or together. I never lie, it is pretty pricey for an eyeshadow stick, but you are getting two different colours here and you know with Bobbi Brown you are getting good quality products and ingredients.

I am currently unemployed whilst I am still recovering from my surgeries and until I have had and recovered from my next surgery, and so I don't have a lot of money to spend on makeup at the moment. However, I am signed up to the Liberty Beauty Drop Subscription, which I will talk about in an upcoming post, but I had £80.00 of credit, which allowed me to buy these products. So the final product I chose from this collection is the Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson Crushed Lip Colour (£26.00 for 3.4g), of which there are three shades to choose from and I opted for the shade Bare. Again, sadly, it isn't a new shade, which sometimes bugs me with collaborations as I think new shades of products should be created rather than just re-packaged, but I don't currently have many Bobbi Brown lip products, so I was happy to choose this. It features the pretty packaging and the colour is very wearable all year round. The Crushed Lip Colour formula is enriched lip-conditioning ingredients such as Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Beeswax, so it keeps the lips nourished and hydrated, whilst also giving pretty colour in a satin-matte finish. I always find Bobbi Brown's lipsticks to be very pigmented and they stay in place for a good amount of time, and are super comfortable to wear.

You can find Bobbi Brown online here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
