REM Beauty Chapter 2 Review + Swatches

Thursday, 19 May 2022

I had been saving my birthday money for the REM Beauty Chapter 2 release as I adore Ariana Grande and I loved the products that I tried from Chapter 1. Here are the items I picked up...

First up are the REM Beauty Eyeshadow Palettes (£24.00 each), and I got all three colour options - Gogo Boots, Smitten Kitten, and Groovy Baby. A lot of people commented that the packaging of REM Beauty looks cheap when it was first released, but in person I would completely disagree! It is weighty and stylish, and unlike other brands on the market. The eyeshadow palettes are nice and compact, feature a mirror on the inside and have six eyeshadows, featuring different textures and finishes. Gogo Boots has a cream shimmer, taupe shimmer, lilac shimmer, mint green matte, pink brown shift shimmer and a deep brown shimmer. Inside Smitten Kitten, you will find a nude matte, taupe shimmer, deep brown chocolate matte, a warm pale burgundy shimmer, a champagne shimmer and a black shimmer. Groovy Baby features a light champagne shimmer, a warm champagne shimmer, a lilac matte, a smoky grey shimmer, a deep forest green shimmer and a deep purple matte. The formula on these eyeshadows are second to none - the mattes are deeply pigmented and the shimmers are creamy and have excellent payoff. I also think the colour stories are pretty unique for smaller palettes and I have used my Chapter 1 Eyeshadow Palettes plenty and I have barely made a dent as a little goes a long way! I also think the price is pretty fair too - especially for the quality and with it being Ariana Grande's brand.

Branching slightly into skincare, the REM Beauty Calming Face Mist (£24.00 for 100ml) is a new direction for the brand. The Calming Face Mist comes in a fairly plain bottle, and the Mist itself is an aquatic blue which reminds me of the ocean. This ultra-fine mist envelopes the sense in the soothing, calming scent of natural lavender essential oil, which is known for its antioxidant power to defend against free radicals. The formula also contains an infusion of chamomile water to help keep the skin soft and hydrated, and Rose Moss to offer a comforting, relaxing scent that is invigorating to the senses. You can use the Calming Face Mist to prep the skin after skincare and before makeup, apply after makeup to eliminate any unwanted powdery finish, or to spray onto your pillow before bedtime for a relaxing sensation. I love that this has different uses and I love spritzing it on both my skin and my pillow as I find it helps calm any redness on my skin, and calms my mind before bedtime.

The next thing I chose was the REM Beauty Metallic Gel Eyeshadows. They retail for £16.00 each for 8ml and are available in five different shades. I got three of these - Affirmation, a rosy lavender, Touch, an icy mint and Gifts, a champagne gold. They come cute little glass pots with silver lids as well as a protective inner lid as metallic gel eyeshadows can dry up pretty quickly if left uncovered for some time. These are so quick and easy to use and give a very pretty effect on the eyes. They have a bouncy formula to them and give multidimensional effects with ultra fine pigments and metallic colour that glides onto the eyelids and blend super easily. The innovative water-infused formula offers a subtle refreshing sensation, which is a dream early in the morning, and settles to a lightweight, comfortable shimmery finish. You can use these sparingly for a light was of colour or build them up for a more intense shimmer.

Another skincare item from Chapter 2 is the REM Beauty Cooling Blurring Undereye Balm, which retails at £22.00 for 15ml. It comes in a glass pot similar to the Metallic Gel Eyeshadows, except a little larger. This is one of the nicest undereye products I have ever tried as I find it so smoothing and refreshing on the skin, which is perfect when you're up early. This botanical-powered Cooling Balm offers results instantly and over time. Gotu Kola helps soothe and blur imperfections in the delicate undereye area, while Caffeine helps melt away the look of puffiness and reduces the appearance of dark circles for a brighter-eyed look. Mushroom Extract, an antioxidant powerhouse, helps protect the skin against free radicals and its lightweight, cushiony texture melts into the skin. You can use it alone or as a primer before applying makeup to create a smooth canvas for application. A little goes a long way with this product too, so even though the pot is small, it sure is mighty!

Last but of course not least, I picked up two of the REM Beauty Eclipse Cheek & Lip Sticks, which retail at £18.00 each for 7.5g. There are ten gorgeous shades to choose from and I chose Chorus Girl, a soft pink and Opening Night, a true mauve. The Lip & Cheek Sticks come in silver and clear domed packaging, which is pretty cute! These easy to use sticks give a healthy flush of natural-looking, luminous colour on the cheeks and lips and the formula is infused with ultra-hydrating ingredients such as Jojoba Seed Oil and Grape Fruit Extracts. The formula is super creamy and melts into the skin for a comfortable second-skin finish. I would happily pick up more shades of these as I think for the price, they are excellent quality and you are getting two products in one - a blusher and a lipstick! I mean, if you wanted, you could even use them on the eyelids for a cool monochromatic look! I cannot wait to see what Chapter 3 brings!

You can find REM Beauty online here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
