US super-brand Tarte recently released a little sister brand, namely Sugar Rush, which seems to be aimed at younger girls, however, in for a penny, in for a pound, I needed to try these beauties out! The collection features body care, eye shadow palettes, lip products, makeup brushes and much more, and I picked up a couple of little bits when I recently made a Tarte order.
If you come here often, you may know that I am a sucker for packaging, and so the first product I bought was the Sugar Rush Best Bud Lip Butter Balm (£11.00). It comes in a sweet little floral and baby blue box, and inside , the pot of balm has a very pretty 3D flower lid. There is just the one shade available, a sheer opalescent baby pink, and it contains Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter to keep the lips well moisturised. This is a vegan, cruelty-free formula, and it does have a very feint scent to it, but just a shea butter fragrance than anything overly powerful. This may be aimed at teens, but I am 35 and I love this little pot of balm.
As I mentioned, Sugar Rush do have some skin care and body care products, but the full sizes are around £20.00 each, so I decided to order a little deluxe mini set, the Sugar Rush But First, Hydrate duo (£11.00), which contains 7ml of the Don't Hate, Hydrate, and 40g of the Cake Butter. Again, the packaging is pastel, tie dye and very cutesy, which I love. Don't Hate, Hydrate is a lightweight oil-free moisturiser for the face, and it doesn't really have a scent to it, so it will be great for younger skin. The only issue I had with this is the I had to squeeze most of the tube to get any out, so I think the amount of product in this is pretty poor. Tarte state it has a £24.00 value, but there is barely enough for one or two uses. However, I was very impressed with the Cake Butter, a whipped body butter which smells incredible - it reminds me of Florida, when I am in Victoria's Secret, a really fresh holiday scent. It is baby pink in colour and is super moisturising and refreshing without being thick or gloopy. This is definitely my favourite of the three items I tried out.
