How To Get A Summer Glow

Monday 3 June 2019

I love makeup and skincare that helps my skin to glow, and therefore it is no surprise that one of my favourite makeup items is a highlighter. Summer is the perfect time to make the most of glowy products, as they go perfect with a tan. Here are some of my favourite skincare, body care and makeup products that give the best glow.
Starting with skincare, I recently picked up the L'Oreal Shake & Glow Luminous Setting Spray (£9.99). This illuminating setting spray is infused with coconut water and glycerine to give long-lasting hydration. It pumps out a super fine mist which I love and has a cooling effect on the skin, making it a great refresher during Summer days. This also contains Vitamin E to help protect the skin and provides 24 hour hydration. I did expect this to have shimmer in it, but it doesn't, as far as I could tell, but it does make my skin look really healthy when I am wearing it on its own and it does set my makeup for the rest of the day. You can find it on Look Fantastic here.
We then have the Sanctuary Spa Protect & Illuminate Moisture Lotion (£15.00), which includes SPF15 which is so great to see, as I have recently been looking for products that contain SPF as I think a lot of us in the UK forget to apply this on a daily basis. You get 75ml of product and once moisturised into the skin, it gives it a real healthy glow, without it looking shimmery, so it is wearable all over the face, neck and decolletage. The Lotion gives 24 hour hydration and defends against the effects of pollution as well as containing Vitamin A & E to brighten the skin and softening shea butter which smells divine as well as it being suitable for all skin types. You can find it online at Feel Unique here.
Moving on to body care, I am starting with the Barry M In The Tropics Scented Shimmer Body Mist in Watermelon Cooler. Unfortunately I couldn't find a price as at the time of writing this, and when I got it myself, this was a gift with purchase when you spent £9.00 on Barry M at Superdrug. I actually only wanted the Mist as it looks gorgeous and so I bought a couple of items just so I could get it. I adore anything watermelon scented and this also contains silver shimmer which actually does go onto the skin with each spritz. The scent just reminds me of summer and holidays and I am currently addicted. You can find it in-store and online at Superdrug here.
Not technically to apply on to the body, but the Sanctuary Spa Liquid Gold Bath Elixir (£12.00) is simply too gorgeous and glowy not to include in this post. This is like liquid gold in a bottle and looks dreamy AF. I love a good bath anyway and to be able to add this shimmering bath elixir to my bath makes me feel super fancy. It contains rose flower water to soften the skin along with a blend of vitamins to brighten the skin. You get 250ml which isn't the best value bubble bath around, but this is lovely to use as a treat. You can find it online at Boots here.
I am not the best at applying fake tan and I don't have someone on hand to apply it to my back, and so sometimes I like to use gradual tanners. The Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Natural Bronze Body Lotion* (£6.00) builds and maintains a gradual natural-looking tan and is suitable for all skin tones. As well as providing you with a tan, this wonder product also gives you 24 hour moisturisation and of course smells incredible with that Coconut Oil included in the formula. This comes in a 250ml bottle with a push-down applicator and so it is easy to use and to apply to the skin and because it is a gradual tan, if you have missed areas, then it isn't going to be a huge problem. You can find it online at Boots here.
One of my favourite products from this glow collection has to be the Norvell Venetian Dazzle Shimmering Mist* (£15.99). You get 118ml of pure rose gold shimmer, which raises your tan and glow to a whole other level. The Shimmering Mist has a pump applicator which makes it super easy to spray all over the body, and each spray releases shimmer, so you don't need to use half a bottle to get the shimmer out, but neither do you look like a disco ball. There isn't a specific scent to it either, so if that is something you like from a product, then you will definitely enjoy this as a lot of shimmer mists do tend to come fragranced. You can find it online at Norvell here.
It is foreign to me as I love anything coconut scented, but a lot of people don't and so if coconut-scented products aren't your thing, fear not because Palmer's also have their Natural Bronze Body Lotion with their Cocoa Butter Formula. The Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Body Lotion Gradual Tanner* contains Vitamin E and Cocoa Butter to really soften and hydrate the skin. A lot of tanning products can sometimes dry the skin out, but this does the opposite by adding moisture into the skin and of course giving you that natural bronzed goddess look over time. At £5.69 for 250ml you really cannot go wrong and you can find it in-store and online at Boots here.
Moving on to makeup, and I couldn't do a glowy post without including my favourite foundation, the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination Full Coverage Cream*. There are so many reasons this is my number one foundation, including the fact that it has SPF50+ which is amazing, the fact that it has skincare included in the formula, and the natural but very beautiful glow it gives my skin. So many people comment on how lovely and glowy my skin looks when I wear it and for someone who isn't skin-confident, that really gives me a confidence boost. The shade range isn't huge, but with CC creams, you don't have to be spot on anywhere, and they have recently made some additions. I go between Fair and Light, for Winter and Summer respectively. The CC Cream costs £31.00 for 32ml and you can find it online at IT Cosmetics here.
Don't get me wrong I love high-end products but I also like to look around for bargains too and I recently stumbled upon the Natural Collection Hydrating & Radiance Primer (£2.99). The packaging is plain and simple but you get 30ml of product which is excellent value. This Primer has a really pretty, pearly glow to it, so as well as priming the skin for foundation, it also makes the skin look really healthy and glowy. Once massaged into the skin, it feels lightweight yet hydrating and I would happily pay three times the price it costs. You can find it in-store and online at Boots here.
Also whilst browsing in Boots I spotted the CYO Bounce Beam Multi-use Illuminating Jelly (£5.00), which is available in three different shades. I chose Golden Sparkle as it suited my skin the most and it is is super glittery, which looks champagne in the pot but has pretty blue and green sparkle within it. It does look really gooey in the pot, almost like it will spill out, but all you need to do is pop your fingertip on the jelly to get all the glitter. Just a faint touch produces so much glitter, and these are great for the cheeks, arms or even eyelids. You can find them in-store and online at Boots here.
For a stunning highlighter, I would fully recommend the New CID Cosmetics i-glow Compact Shimmer Powder* (£27.50), which is available in different shades. Here I have the shade Aurora, which is the most beautiful peachy champagne shimmer, perfect for lighter skin tones like mine. The compact comes with a mirror on the inside of the lid and 9g of the powder, which has a silky soft mineral and baked pigment formula. You only need a small amount to get this gorgeous highlight shade, and due to there being so much product, I like to sweep it across my shoulders and down the centre of my legs. You can find it online at New CID Cosmetics here
For the lips, IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Stains* (£18.00) are one of my favourites. They come in a variety of shades and are a 4-in-1 hydrating lipstick/balm/gloss/stain. From the six available shades I have Pure Joy, which is a glowy, shimmery mauve colour and it leaves my lips looking and feeling healthy and glowy due to that beautiful soft shimmer and hydration. The packaging is stunning, as it always is with IT Cosmetics, and I love the 'Live Love Laugh with Vitality' slogan which is on the pink park of the packaging - extra touches like that always go such a long way with me. You can find the Lip Flush Stains online at IT Cosmetics here.
I was so in love when I saw the Revolution Vintage Lace Intense Metallic Cream-Powder Highlighter Palette (£8.00) as the lace design is just so pretty. You get four large highlighter pans featuring the lace design and each one is has a colour shift shimmer spray over. As with the majority of Revolution highlighters, the pigmentation is second to none, and even if the darkest shade is too dark for me as a highlighter, it makes the most gorgeous eye shadow with my blue eyes. They have a cream to powder formula, so they are silky soft and blend really well and for under £10.00, this is definitely a must-buy! You can find it on Revolution here.
Finally, I picked up two of the Sleek Makeup Shattered Glass Intense Glitter Effect Lip Toppers (£5.49 each). They are available in six shades, and here I have Bad Moon, a light champagne with a baby pink shift and shimmer, and Hoax, a coral shade with a gold shift and glitter. These are full on shimmer lip products and can be worn alone or over the top of your favourite lipstick. They remind me a little of the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows, but this time for the lips, as they are pretty intense. These aren't something I would wear on an everyday basis, but I love them to add a bit of fun and glow to my makeup look. You can find them online at Feel Unique here.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
