Travel Essentials: Skincare & Makeup

Saturday 8 June 2019

In my second instalment of my Travel Essentials trio of posts I am going to be discussing some of the best skincare and makeup products for travelling with.
Makeup brushes can often take up quite a lot of room and sometimes the length of them don't always fit in my makeup bag, but Blank Canvas Cosmetics have the answer. The Blank Canvas Cosmetics Travel Set* (£35.00) contains a Face Brush, a Buffing Brush, a Blusher Brush, an Eye Blending Brush, an Eyeshadow Brush and a Lip/Detail Brush as well as a bag to keep them all neatly in. Once you have used makeup brushes they can sometimes dirty other things, but keeping them in this bag keeps them separate and your other products clean. You can find this online here.
The Vichy Mineralising Thermal Water* (£7.00 for 150ml) is great for not only cooling down but also providing the skin with 15 minerals, strengthening the skin's barrier function and helping to protect the skin against external aggressors. I would also recommend popping this in the fridge whether at home or on holiday to keep it extra cool and then spritzing onto the face after a day in the hot sunshine. You can find it online here.
If you have been reading my recent posts, you may know how much of a struggle I have found it to get a foundation that contains SPF. However, the Filorga Flash Nude Pro-Perfection Tinted Fluid* (£30.00) contains SPF30, and whilst I wouldn't recommend not using sun protection as well, I do think it is important to use a foundation that contains SPF whilst on holiday. It is the first time I have tried anything from the brand and I have been super impressed as this foundation feels so lightweight which is great for when the weather is hot and I found it easy to blend and build too. You can find it online here.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream* (£16.50 for 28ml) is such a cult skincare product and I have lost count of how many tubs I have gone through. Whether you are wanting to travel with it or try it out before buying a full size pot, Kiehl's offer this handy travel size for just £16.50 and you will still get such a lot of use from this sized tub. Ultra Facial Cream is a lightweight moisturiser that gives up to 24 hour moisturisation and contains Squalene which helps keep the moisture in. You can find it online here.
For the lips, I would recommend the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Coconut Oil Lip Balm* (£2.49), as not only does it contain super moisturising coconut oil, but it also contains SPF15, so you can take care of your lips in the sunshine. The Lip Balm comes in a neat tube which pushes up to reveal more product and so it is great for travelling with and putting in the smallest of handbags or travel bags. You can find it online here.
I never scrimp on my skincare routine even on holiday, and the S5 Serums are perfect for travelling with as they come with super safe lids and you get 10ml of product in each bottle. S5 have serums for all concerns, including the S5 Renew Serum* (£22.00) for Ageing, the S5 Purity Serum* (£18.00) for Blemishes and the S5 Replenish Serum* (£20.00) for Dryness, which is a good general serum, especially when you have been in the heat or swimming and your skin has gone dry. You can find them online here.
Milani have a great range of baked powder blushers, and the reason I think they are great for travelling with, is that they are lightweight, and underneath the powder itself there is a mirror and a good-quality blusher brush. Therefore, you don't have to take a large blusher brush with you and the colours are so pretty. Here, I have the Milani Baked Blush* (£10.00) in the shade 03 Berry Amore, which is full of rose pink, gold and gold shimmer running throughout to create a stunning glow to the cheeks. You can find it online here.
I wear contact lenses every single day, but I do take them out on a flight and as my eyes get so dry, I like to take something to cool them down. I love the Sanctuary Spa Awakening Cucumber Hydrogel Under Eye Masks (£5.00) as they come packaged per use, and so they are super thin and easy to pop in your carry-on bag. They contain de-puffing cucumber, firming gotu kola and soothing aloe vera to keep the eyes hydrated and feeling a lot more comfortable. You can find them online here.
Ho Karan is a French cannabis skincare brand which have a range of products which are perfect for travelling with. Firstly there is the Ho Karan Natural Power Deodorant* (£12.00) which has been made with alum stone to keep you feeling fresh and cool throughout the day. Then there is the Ho Karan Invisible Moisturising Shield* (£19.90 for 50ml) which is a non-greasy moisturiser which contains aloe vera and bark of boswellia serrata to reduce redness and calmness, which is great for after a day in the sun. Finally, there are the Ho Karan Go Fast Wipes* (£9.90 for 10 wipes) which are perfect for popping in your pocket or handbag to cool and cleanse the skin on the go. You can find Ho Karan online here.
If you like a fragrance with your lip balm, then I would definitely recommend the Balmi Moisturising Lip Balm* in the scent Roseberry (£3.99) as it smells divine and the rose gold packaging is super cute. One of the great things about Balmi is that the balm itself is moulded into a conical shape making application an absolute doddle. Balmi also contains Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E which is going to keep your lips is puckering condition. You can find it online here.
Many brands have started offering their products in travel friendly sizes, including the SVR Physiopure Cleansing Micellar Water*. You get 75ml for £5.00 and this is going to be more than enough for a weekend break away or 5-7 days depending on how much you personally use. The SVR Physiopure is a mild and pure cleansing water which has been created with no allergens and is 100% gentle on sensitive skin, so it is suitable for all skin types, to leave the skin feeling clean and fresh. You can find it online here.
Something that I just had to include, because it is just so fun is the Bronzie Tan Your Own Freckles Stencil* (£4.95). Freckles seem to be one of the in-things this Summer and if you don't have them, then you can bloomin' well fake them with this fab stencil. The pack includes one stencil but it is reusable time and time again, and all you have to do is either use a bit of fake tan or even makeup and with the aid of the stencil, you will find yourself full of super pretty freckles. You can find it online here.
Skincare brand Africology is pretty new to myself, but I have been trying these travel-sized products recently and they have made my skin feel unbelievable. If like me, you prefer to buy travel sizes first to see if your skin agrees with the product before buying the full size, Africology offer various sizes. Here we have the Africology Moisturiser SPF15* (£25.00 for 25ml), the Africology Tonic Re-Active Lotion* (£9.00 for 25ml) and the Africology Purifying Cleansing Gel* (£9.00 for 25ml), and they all contain 100% natural essential oils which is not just amazing for your skin but the products also smell divine too. You can find them online here.
Finally, if you don't want to be carrying around a big bottle of moisturiser, I would recommend picking up one of the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Coconut Oil Swivel Sticks* (£4.49). It looks a lot like a large lip balm, and therefore is great for travelling with, and you get 14g of product in it. This is one of those do-it-all products, and can be used on the face, lips, cuticles, hands, dry patches and anywhere you need some quick moisturisation that is going to last 24 hours. You can find it online here.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
