This week is foundation week, and I have been trying different foundations from different brands and different price points. Today it is the Maybelline Super Stay Multi-Use Foundation Stick (£8.99) and Maybelline Super Stay Longwear Powder (£7.99).
I must say, straightaway that the amount of product you get in the Foundation Stick is abysmal. It comes in a good-sized tube, but you get 1.5cm of product, which for me is just not good enough, but I still wanted to put it to the test. You do get a slanted sponge on the opposite end, but I like to stick with my trusty Beauty Blender. There are 16 shades available and I ordered 005 Light Beige, which is pretty light, verging on porcelain.
In all honesty, there isn't really anything I like about this foundation, but do bare in mind that different products work differently on different people. The colour was far too light, it did not blend very well and it didn't do anything for my pores. Plus, the amount of product you get is terrible. It does boast 24hour wear and I can say that it probably is quite long-lasting due to the texture, but I couldn't keep it on long enough as it just did nothing for my skin.
However, I did like the Maybelline Super Stay Longwear Powder. It is only available in four shades, and I went for 10 Ivory, but I find that you don't have to be as precise with powders as they are not always designed to give a full colour coverage. The Super Stay Powder comes in a white compact with a mirror on the inside of the lid and a little sponge puff. I am not a fan of sponge puffs and I much prefer to take a powder brush and swirl it around the compact.
I didn't find this powder cakey and it definitely helped keep my makeup in place throughout the day. It does boast 16hour wear but if you come here often you will know I don't leave my makeup on for that long, and it is waterproof, so this is going to be great for on holiday, when you are perhaps a little warm (sweaty) and spending a lot of time in the pool.
