Pixi SkinTreats Vitamin C Collection Review

Wednesday 14 August 2019

I have said it before, and I will say it again, Pixi always send the most incredible PR packages and this month was no different. They very kindly sent me their amazing new Vitamin C collection, which came packaged in a huge vitamin-style bottle, which was also completely personalised. I will never tire of being spoilt by Pixi! There are five key Vitamin C products and so of course I am excited to share them with you all...
Firstly, we have the Pixi Vitamin-C Juice Cleanser, and straight away the name alone makes me think of a juice cleanse or detox. The Pixi Vitamin-C Juice Cleanser is a brightening cleansing water which contains Orange Flower Water and Vitamin C for a potent, antioxidant effect. This Cleansing Water also contains Ferulic Acid and Probiotics to preserve and protect the skin and can be used morning and evening as your main cleanser. I love the applicator on this bottle, as you simply pop open the lid to reveal a push-down applicator, similar to a bottle of nail polish remover, and you place your cotton wool pad on the top of it, push down and the product goes on to your cotton wool pad without spilling everywhere. Before you even apply it to the skin, you smell the orange-juice fragrance, and it really is amazing. It costs £18.00 for 150ml and is the perfect SkinTreat for dull, lacklustre skin which is in much need of a little help.
Queen of the Tonics, of course there is a Pixi Vitamin-C Tonic within this collection. The Pixi Vitamin-C Tonic has potent antioxidant power, promotes healthy collagen production and is known to boost skin luminosity. The Vitamin-C Tonic contains probiotics to help fortify the skin's barrier while willow bark and fruit extracts gently exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells, leaving a super-clean, fresh base. This toner is perfect for all skin types and is alcohol-free, so will even be suitable for sensitive skins. There are two sizes available, the 100ml costs £10.00 and the 250ml retails for £18.00. Again, as with the Juice Cleanser, you can really smell the citrus fragrance within this toner and it really is heavenly first thing in a morning to get your senses working.
I will be honest and say that I didn't always use a serum within my skincare routine, but ever since I first started using them a few years ago, I haven't stopped. Serums are an added extra that treat the skin within seconds. The Pixi Vitamin-C Serum is a brightening and anti-oxidant serum which provides the skin with a boost of immediate and long-term radiance. Alongside Vitamin C, the Serum contains Ferulic Acid which work together to reduce the effects of sun damage and free radicals, which in turn help to improve skin tone and create a smoother complexion. The Serum comes in a pretty mint-green glass bottle, complete with a glass dropper to control the amount of product you are releasing and the serum itself looks a little like orange juice. To apply serums, it is best to do so after cleansing and toning the skin, yet before applying your moisturiser, and this can be done both morning and evening. The Pixi Vitamin-C Serum costs £26.00 and you get 30ml of product, which when you are only needing a couple of drops at a time, is going to last you plenty.
Everything is this collection is so aesthetically pleasing to me, with the pastel hues and neat packaging. The Pixi Vitamin-C Lotion is not exception. This is a skin-brightening moisturising lotion, packed with Vitamin C to provide the skin with potent antioxidant power, to promote healthy collagen production, to help plump the skin and to boost the skin's luminosity. Yes, there is obviously a theme here, and that is healthy, glowy skin. The Pixi Vitamin-C Lotion comes in a 50ml tube, and I generally do prefer a tube to a pot as it can be a little more hygienic. Again, this is great for all skin types, and the texture of the Lotion is quite light and I find that it sinks into my skin instantly, which I always prefer when it comes to moisturisers, both for the face and the body. When applying makeup over the lotion, it doesn't affect the wear of it, as sometimes if a lotion is too thick, my face can get quite shiny and 'greasy' looking. This retails for £24.00, which for 50ml is a pretty good price and it can be used both morning and evening.
If you come here often, you will probably know all about my love for face masks. I think they are so quick and easy, and treat the skin immensely. The Vitamin-C Caviar Balm is a face mask with a difference and is a brightening leave-on mask, so there is no need to remove. I think this would make a great travel companion, especially when you are on a plane, as so often I feel a little shy about popping on a sheet mask, whereas this melts into the skin and there is no horror-movie look. In short, this is an encapsulated vitamin mask, full of Vitamin C which absorbs into the skin, working it's magic whenever you need a little boost. Summer is the perfect time of year for this kind of product, as our skin can get pretty fed up of being in the sunshine a lot, especially when it isn't used to it, and the Caviar Balm will be able to top it up with much-needed vitamins. It costs £24.00 for 45ml and smells incredible!
