Little-Known Box July 2019 Review + Contents

Tuesday 13 August 2019

I go through a bit of a love-hate relationship with monthly beauty boxes. When the idea first came about, I was obsessed with them, but then so many started including products that you would see month in, month out, amongst the different boxes, along with products that were 'free' testers you could get in most department stores or online with purchases. For me, I just got bored of them, and would rather have spent that £20+ on full-sized products I knew and loved.
However, beauty boxes are great for trying out new brands and products, that you may have not come across before or been able to have tried. Little-Known Box is a little different to the rest - as the name may suggest, they take brands, that are not as well known on the beauty scene or amongst other beauty boxes. That may be because the brand is new, the product is new or other reasons such as the products being organic, vegan, cruelty free etc.
I was kindly sent the Little-Known Box Summer Beauty July 2019 edition and really was very impressed as the only 'sample' size was a bonus product. Here are examples of the kinds of products you will find in a Little-Known Box.
Figs & Rouge Pore Perfect HD + Matte Veil (RRP £35.00) is the most expensive item in the box and is a brand and product I haven't tried before. Figs & Rouge are a UK based cruelty-free and vegan friendly skincare brand and their products are made and formulated in the UK. I do have problems with enlarged pores, so I am definitely looking forward to trying this out and at £35.00, it isn't something I would normally pick up, but if it works then I would definitely consider purchasing it.
I don't often use lip liners, but I am always up for trying them out. In this box you receive the CODE Beautiful CODE SSL Lip Liner (RRP £18.00) in the shade Nude Blush. I do wish they had have included a lip product that matched this shade, but it is quite a neutral rose pink colour and so I know that I will have other lip products that match. It is another full sized product and it feels great quality, with a lovely soft formula which glides effortlessly onto the lips.
Also from the same brand, we have the CODE Beautiful CODE LIP Intense Plumper (RRP £20.00). I have tried a mascara from the brand, but we are talking years ago, so it is nice to be able to try other products. This is a luxurious hydrating plumping and long-lasting lip treatment, so there is no need to go near a needle. There is a slight coral-pink tint to it, but it is definitely more of a plumping product than a coloured lip product. The applicator tip is slanted and spongy and so it is really comfortable to apply on to the lips also.
We then have the Oh K! 3-Step Bamboo Charcoal Sheet Mask (RRP £8.50), and if you read Kathryn's Loves often, then you will know how much I love a face mask, and this one goes a couple of steps further! The packaging is split into three parts, so there is Step 1, a cleansing wash, Step 2, the Charcoal Sheet Mask itself and Step 3, a moisturising serum. I love the idea of this, and whether you are wanting a little skincare treat at home, or whilst travelling, this is perfect and I think I am definitely going to pick up another before I fly to Orlando in December to take on the plane with me.
The final full-sized product is the Merci Handy Refreshing Face Mist (RRP £4.50). I have been obsessed with face mists since we had that horrific heatwave as they are great for cooling down, and I even keep one on my desk at work for when I need a refresher. This sweet one from Merci Handy gives out a cooling light mist, which doesn't spurt out everywhere, and the size is perfect for popping in a handbag or for taking away with you.
This month's bonus item is the WaterWipes Facial Wipes packet, which includes two of their face wipes. Now, even though these are 99.9% water, due to wearing makeup most days, I prefer to do a full skincare routine both morning and night. However, as I mentioned I am flying over to America in December, and these will be lovely for keeping my skin refreshed on board the plane. They are even suitable for sensitive skin and can remove mascara as well as other makeup.
The Little-Known Box costs £14.95 plus £3.75 shipping, and this month's box is worth a total of around £86.00, which is an incredible saving, as well as there being discount codes on the box menu card included. There are pre-payment offers and gift subscription offers too. You can find out more online here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
