Boots tend to work with the same influencers year on year, and Millie Mackintosh has been in Boots for a good few years now. I haven't had anything from her previous Christmas collections but this was the very first Boots Star Gift 2019 a month or so ago and I got a little eager for Christmas deals and went ahead and ordered it.
The Millie Mackintosh Exclusively Yours Gift Set is £40.00, and as it was on a deal, I got it for £20.00. I think £20-30.00 is a fair price for this, but I do think £40.00 is a little overpriced considering what else you can get for that kind of money. The set is presented wonderfully in a reusable gift box, so it does make a really nice gift.
Here is what is inside;
* Synthetic Blush Brush
* Nail Polish in a Rose Pink shade
* Bronzer Compact
* Eyeshadow Quad Compact featuring a matte brown and three warm-toned shimmers
* Glowing Face Primer
* Cream Highlighter Compact
* Lip Gloss in a Pink Nude
* Black Eyeliner
To be honest, I don't think the quality is that bad at all, as I think sometimes with unbranded makeup, it can look, feel and perform a little cheaply, but overall I am pretty impressed. I love the gold and dark green colour theme running throughout it and the Eyeshadow Quad swatched really well - I love the warm-toned shimmer shades and you could even use the matte brown as an eyebrow powder.
However, I don't feel Millie Mackintosh is as relevant as she was when her collections started at Boots, and as with Zoella last year, I don't personally know if her gift sets will sell purely on her name alone. This is no shade to Millie whatsoever, but I think Boots should try and keep the influencers they collaborate with a little more relevant and up to date, year by year rather than having them sign a 4 or 5 year contract.
That aside, I do still think this is a great kit, and it would be perfect for someone who is just getting into makeup. I would keep an eye out for an offer though, as this isn't a part of the Boots 3 for 2 Christmas Gifting deal either. You can find it in-store and online here.
All the Loves,
