Trying Five Highlighters - Chanel, NARS, Doll Beauty, Mulac & Too Faced

Friday 28 February 2020

Highlighters are one of my favourite beauty products available, even though I don't use them every single day, specifically if I am having a no or low makeup day, there is just something magnificent about them that makes me want to collect them. Today's post features highlighters from Chanel, NARS, Doll Beauty, Mulac and Too Faced.
Chanel is a pretty boujie makeup and skincare brand, but the Chanel Eclat du Desert Illuminating Powder (£52.00) is just stunning, especially if you have lighter skin like myself. It is a Limited Edition from their Spring/Summer 2020 collection, so don't expect it to be around for very long. The packaging is signature Chanel, simple yet oh-so-classy and you do receive a good quality brush inside along with a mirror on the inside of the lid. The highlighter itself is a satin rosy beige base with delicate golden shimmer and it really is something special. A little goes a long way with this, so even though it is an investment, it will last. You can find it online at Chanel here.
Another option for lighter skin tones is the NARS Highlighting Powder in the shade Capri (£29.00), which comes in traditional NARS matte black, sleek packaging. there is a good-sized mirror on the inside of the lid and you get quite a large pan of product. Capri is a soft ballet pink pearl, almost bordering on a very light peach nude. This highlighter doesn't contain glitter, but it does contain a lot of glow, and it really is a beautiful, low-key highlighter. The formula is super soft, and the powder feels ultra-refined and sits on the skin beautifully and very comfortably to highlight the cheekbones, tip of the nose, cupid's bow and even the shoulders and decollete due to the size of the pan. You can find it online at NARS here
My friend Brooklyn is a makeup artist and so whilst compiling these posts, I asked her which highlighter she recommended, and she suggested the Doll Beauty Doll Light Highlighter (£15.00). There are a couple of shades to choose from, along with some duos and palettes, and I opted for the shade Like A Diamond as it was the lightest. The packaging is bubblegum pink and gold, and there is a mirror on the inside of the lid, and again a good-sized pan. The shade Like A Diamond is the lighter option and it is a stunning light champagne pearl. This is a very pigmented highlighter and just the slightest swatch will give you the most beautiful glow, and I would even use this as an eyeshadow too. You can find it at Boots here.
Due to my skin being dry from the cold weather, I have been trying more liquid and cream-based products as they look more natural on a drier skin. I have been loving the Mulac OMG Highlighter Oil* (16.90 Euros), which is available in three shades, of which I have OMG Rose 02, a rose champagne pearl. Don't let the word 'oil' scare you, as this doesn't feel oily on the skin whatsoever, and is a liquid highlighter which can be used on the face and body, so if you are going away to the sunshine anytime soon, this multi-use product will be a great one to try. The highlighter comes in a glass bottle and has a glass dropper applicator which makes it super easy to use and the liquid blends out stunningly, to add a touch of glow to the skin. You can find it online at Mulac here.
Too Faced nail the packaging of their products every single time. The Too Faced Diamond Light Diamond Fire Highlighter* (£28.00) comes in a beautiful outer box, which opens up to reveal what can only be described as a vintage necklace box, and is just adorable and so, so special. There are multiple shades available and this one is Canary Diamond, a warm-toned sparkly highlighter - if you like your highlighters outstanding, then this one is for you! The formula is silky soft and goes on sheer, but with that hit of sparkle. This highlighter was actually inspired by the diamond ring that the Too Faced creators Jeremy and Jerrod exchanged, which I think is such a lovely sentiment. There is a lighter version available, Fancy Pink Diamond which comes in a pink box, and I already own that, and it is a little less sparkly than this one, but still very beautiful. You can find the Diamond Light Highlighter in store and online at Debenhams here.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
