Pastel Beauty

Monday 4 May 2020

Anything pastel has my heart - whether it be makeup, clothing, nails or even cars - I once had a baby blue Fiat 500! So, I wanted to do a round-up of some of my favourite pastel-inspired beauty products - some are pastel in colour, and some are pastel in packaging, but they are all gorgeous! Here are my favourite pastel beauty products...
Starting with skincare, we have the Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Face Mask (£12.00). I love face masks and this one has baby pink packaging! This Face Mask is a great way to prep the skin or enjoy an indulgent pamper session. It is an innovative bio-cellulose mask that acts like a cooling second skin, whilst the fibres instantly lock moisture into the skin and enables a deeper penetration of the formula. The formula is infused with pink grapefruit, diamond powder and skin-tightening peptides to work instantly to lift, tighten and brighten the skin for a more youthful looking, radiant complexion with lifted facial contours. You simply apply the face sheet mask to the cleansed skin and leave on for 20-30 minutes, or slightly longer if you have the time and then once you remove the mask, you can massage the remaining serum into the skin for longer-lasting results. You can find it online at Feel Unique here.
I don't know about you, but my hands have been super dry and sore from all the extra hand washing and hand sanitising lately and so a hand cream is a must-have! I have been loving The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Hand Cream (£5.00 for 30ml) with its silver and peach packaging. The Body Shop make the one of the most effective hand cream formulas on the market and this one, infused with pink grapefruit oil smells incredibly fresh and fruity. The formula is a light, gel-cream texture and absorbs into the skin pretty quickly, so you can carry on doing what you do, rather than having to wait around for the formula to melt into the skin, leaving you with super soft, fresh-smelling hands. You can find it online at The Body Shop here.
For fragrance, I decided upon the Miu Miu L'Eau Bleue Eau De Parfum (£49.00 for 30ml). The bottle is gorgeous - with a light blue faceted bottom and a gold, cream and pale yellow lid. Miu Miu L'Eau Bleue captures the scintillating effervescence of early Spring and the light scent of morning dew in Lily of the Valley bells. It is a fresh and joyful fragrance, and is Spring in a bottle, which is perfect for this time of year. It contains notes of Lily of the Valley, Akigalawood and Honeysuckle and even though it is quite a fruity fragrance, it also has a fresh, slightly masculine note to it, which I love as I don't like anything too floral. As it is an eau de parfum, rather than an eau de toilette, you only need a small amount per application to last you throughout the day. You can find it online at The Fragrance Shop here.
As my skin is currently dry AF, I needed a more hydrating primer and so I have been really enjoying the Laura Mercier Hydrating Pure Canvas Primer (£32.00 for 50ml). There are other skin type options available within the Pure Canvas range and this one comes in a super light blue squeezy tube. The Hydrating Primer infuses moisture into the skin and helps to keep the skin fresh throughout the day. It contains Olive Extract to visibly smooth and lock in hydration and Marine Hydra Botanicals to replenish the skin and promote longer-term moisture recovery. It helps to soften, smooth and hydrate my skin to leave a clean base for my foundation, and keeps it in place, whilst keeping my skin nourished all day long. You can find it online at Feel Unique here.
Did I buy the Guerlain Meteorites Rainbow Pearls (£42.00) because of the packaging? I jolly well might have done! I have wanted to try these for so long, because their tins are always super gorgeous and this one is no exception! The pearls come in a variety of six shades; yellow and green to reduce redness and dark spots, pink to restore radiance, orange to help conceal dark spots and areas of shadow, blue to counter dullness and mauve to catch the light. To use these super soft pearls, you simply take a large face brush and swirl it amongst the pearls and then apply evenly all over the face to help set makeup in place and revive the complexion. Beautiful! I believe the tins are often limited editions too and you can find them online at Feel Unique here.
There is a new Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick (£21.00) shade in town, which is Starstruck, an iced out pearl and it is super pretty. I haven't bought a Match Stix since Fenty Beauty first launched here in the UK and as I am currently loving cream and liquid products, I knew I had to try this new shade as it is perfect for lighter skintones. There are ten other shades available and they can be used to highlight the skin or as a blusher, or even a bronzer if you go for the darker shades. They come in magnetic nude packaging that twists up to move the product, just like a lipstick and you can apply the product straight onto the skin, or dab it onto your fingers and blend it into the skin that way. These are really lovely creamy highlighters that feel lightweight on the skin and I guess you could even use them on the eyelids! You can find it online at Harvey Nichols here.
Jeffree Star does quite a lot of pastel-coloured makeup products and so I had to include the Jeffree Star Liquid Frost Liquid Highlighter in the shade Frozen Peach (£23.00 for 30ml). I love the powder version of this metallic liquid highlighter and the shade is just stunning. You get a generous amount of product and it comes in a plastic bottle with a pastel pink lid that has a glass dropper inside so that you can control the amount of product you are using. You could mix this gorgeous shimmery liquid in with a foundation, use as an all-over base, or as a regular liquid highlighter. With every drop, you receive so much shimmer, Jeffree's products are always such good quality and have great long-wearing formulas. You can find it online at Beauty Bay here.
As I have mentioned previously, both in this post and others, I really am enjoying using liquid and cream products at the moment and in particular, the Revolution Pro Blush And Lift Liquid Blush (£8.00). There are three shades available and I really love the shade Harmony, a soft light nude, with a slight hint of peach. The Liquid Blush comes with a large doe-foot sponge applicator, so you can apply it straight to the cheeks, or dab a small amount onto the tip of your finger and then blend it into the skin. I have tried other, more expensive liquid blushes and this one is just as good - Revolution sure know how to create quality, affordable products. You can find it online at Revolution here.
The next item I just had to have as soon as I saw it! The Sugar Rush x Tarte Surf Babe Eye & Cheek Palette (£23.00) is the cutest palette - it looks like a pastel surfboard and has three different layers - the lid, six eyeshadows and a cheek palette. The eyeshadows are all in nude and pastel shades, so there is a lilac, mint green, peach, lemon yellow, bronze and nude. The cheek palette contains a bronzer, blush and highlighter. I think this is such a lovely little palette and quite a good price for what you are getting from Tarte. I also think this is a really handy travel product as you are getting quite a lot of options from a thin, compact palette. You can find it online at Tarte here.
Another eyeshadow palette I thought was perfect for this time of year is the Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows Eyeshadow Palette (£21.00) in the colourway Pastel Frost. These sweet petite palettes come in eight different colourways, and each palette has a mirror on the inside of the lid. The shades included are all shimmers and metallics, and you get a cornflower blue, a Spring green, a mustard yellow, an iridescent baby pink, a lavender and an ocean blue. The palettes can be snapped together too, so if you have two of them, you can connect them into one handy palette, so again these are really handy for travel. You can find them online at Harvey Nichols here.
Many years ago, Gucci had a makeup line here in the UK, and all of a sudden it disappeared. This year, they have gradually started releasing new products and one of them is the Gucci Lash By Lash Buildable Mascara (£30.00). It comes in a beautiful light peach and gold packaging and the brush and formula enhances the lashes and makes the eyes appear wider and brighter due to its rich, creamy formula. It has a long-lasting finish and doesn't smudge or budge throughout the day and you can build up the colour and volume with further applications. It is pricey for a mascara, however this one is so beautiful that it is sometimes nice to spend a little more for a touch of luxury. You can find it online at Harrods here.
A new edition to the Urban Decay brow collection is the Urban Decay Inked Brow Waterproof Brow Gel (£22.00), which is available in seven different shades. I opted for Neutral Nana, and I am not wholly sure this is my shade, but as we are in lockdown at the time of writing this post, I was not able to get to a store to try out the shades. However, if you want long-lasting brows, then this is your product! It is a brow gel that creates sculpted arches for up to 60 hours! I have never kept it on for that long, but it certainly didn't budge the whole time I was wearing it. It has an angled brush, so it is super easy to create an incredible arch, even if you have sparse brows like mine. You can find it online at Urban Decay here.
I adore Pixi Beauty products - their skincare is amazing, and so I had to include the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist (£16.00 for 80ml). This pink and mint green packaging has an easy-to-use spray applicator and the formula helps to prolong the wear of makeup and stop it from moving, melting and settling into fine lines or pores. The formula contains Rose Water and Green Tea to comfort, protect and balance the skin to keep it looking and feeling fresh and hydrated. The Makeup Fixing Mist is suitable for all skin types and the mist is sprayed nice and evenly and has a lovely soft fragrance to it. You can find it online at Pixi Beauty here.
Moving on to lips, and I love the new Dior Addict Stellar Shine Lip Shine (£30.00) in the shade 352 D-Galaxy. The shade is a sparkle rosy peach and is perfect for this time of year! The lipstick comes in chic Dior packaging and is a balm lipstick that feels soft and comfortable on the lips with a delicate sweet scent of musky vanilla. The formula not only looks great on the lips, lovely and shiny, but it is also infused with aloe vera to give the lips all-day nourishment and hydration. I know a lot of people don't like lip glosses as they can be sticky, but this is definitely a great alternative as you are getting shine and colour without the mess. You can find it online at Dior here.
I have to say, when I ordered the MAC Patent Paint Lip Lacquer (£19.00) in the shade Varnished Reputation, it looked a LOT lighter online - but I guess that is the downside to not being able to visit makeup counters. Varnished Reputation is a mauve shade, which is a little too 'purple' for me, however I still appreciate the formula and there are many other shades to choose. The Patent Paint Lip Lacquer has a flat double-sided sponge applicator, so it is a doddle to apply, and the formula is super glossy without the stickiness of a gloss and super pigmented! I definitely want to try another shade from this collection as I love the formula. You can find it online at MAC here.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
