Pixi Skintreats Retinol Jasmine Collection Review

Thursday, 2 July 2020

During Lockdown, I received a gorgeous PR package from Pixi, which included the Pixi Skintreats Retinol Jasmine collection. The skincare products came in a pretty floral wash bag with a total of six new products to try. Retinol is a skincare ingredient which is best known for its smoothing and refining properties, and so if you have uneven skin tone or are starting to get fine lines and wrinkles, then this collection is going to be great for you!
Both morning and evening I follow a fairly strict skincare routine, using a cleanser, toner, serum or oil, a moisturiser and an eye cream. It may sound a lot, but it really only takes around ten minutes and definitely makes a whole lot of difference to my skin. Therefore, with the new Pixi Retinol Jasmine collection, we would start with the Pixi Retinol Jasmine Cleanser (£18.00 for 135ml). Like the other products in this range, the Cleanser comes in very pretty mint green and lilac packaging and the product itself is a creamy, moisturising cleanser. The formula is enriched with Vitamin A (retinol), antioxidants and ceramides to remove all impurities on the skin to give you smoother, firmer and more radiant-looking skin. The key ingredient Jasmine Oil helps to brighten and illuminate the skin to help it look its very best. I find this a very enjoyable product to use, I simply massage it into the skin, and then rinse with warm water, both morning and evening. There is a very light Jasmine scent to the product, but not at all strong enough to irritate the skin.
I have used so many of the Pixi Tonics before as they are definitely one of my favourite brand of toners on the market and they create many different versions for different skin types and problems. The Pixi Retinol Tonic is available in two sizes, 100ml for £10.00 and 250ml for £18.00, so obviously the latter is better value for money, but the smaller is great if you travel a lot. The Retinol Tonic is a potent youth-preserving tonic that features a unique time-release Retinol to help rejuvenate the skin for a natural glow. The formula contains antioxidants and botanicals to replenish the skin to leave you with a smoother, softer appearance while also soothing sensitive skin. That was the first thing I noticed with this Tonic, was how refreshing, yet soothing it was on my skin as soon as I applied it with a cotton pad. I get quite red, sometimes fairly sensitive patches on my cheeks, chin and forehead, and I found this amazing for cooling that right down.
The next stage would be an oil or serum, and in this case, for the morning, it would be the Pixi Jasmine Oil Blend (£26.00 for 30ml), which isn't actually new to this collection as it doesn't contain retinol, but with the ingredient jasmine, then it makes for a perfect fit. I have actually tried and featured this on my blog before, so I was super grateful to receive a replacement. The Jasmine Oil Blend comes in a little glass jar and comes complete with a glass dropper so that you can control the amount of product you are releasing. This oil blend is super effective for helping skin to recover from loss of moisture and dullness, helping to repair damage as well as calming and restoring stressed and unbalanced skin. I found this great for using during the colder months, when my skin needed something extra to rid it of the dryness and harshness of the cold weather. I think especially at the moment, we are all under more stress and pressure than ever before, and our diets and health, and therefore our skin is taking the brunt of it all. Adding a couple of drops of this Oil Blend and pressing it into the skin, can really make a difference to help rejuvenate the skin and getting it looking and feeling much better.
For on an evening, there is the Pixi Overnight Retinol Oil (£26.00 for 30ml), and I would always advise you to use a different morning and nighttime serum, oil or moisturiser, especially if you suffer from especially dry or stressed skin. That is because specific overnight skincare products do tend to be more concentrated, and therefore will go that extra mile for your skin. The Overnight Retinol Oil helps to restore the plumpness of the skin and improve the appearance of fine lines and pores, and enlarged pores is something I suffer greatly from, and whilst I know they will never disappear, I do like the fact that this will help to reduce them. It comes in the same type of glass bottle as the Jasmine Oil Blend, with the glass dropper, and the formula is slightly heavier than the morning version, but it sinks straight into the skin and doesn't leave a greasy residue - there is nothing worse than getting into bed and having oil all over your pillows! I can smell a very feint fragrance with this oil, but again, nothing that is overly noticeable nor aggravating for the skin. As this is an overnight product, when you are doing your evening skincare routine, warm a few drops of this between your palms and press into the skin after your toner and before your moisturiser.
After applying those beautiful oils to the skin, it is then time for moisturiser, using the Pixi Retinol Jasmine Lotion (£24.00 for 50ml, which is really good value for a higher end moisturiser of that amount!). The Lotion comes in a squeezy tube, which I do tend to prefer as it is much more hygienic than dipping your fingers into a pot, and while I do sometimes use pots of moisturiser, I do prefer this kind of packaging. This is a lightweight yet deeply moisturising, antioxidant-rich milky-lotion that gives a youth enhancing effect when used both morning and evening. I love how lightweight it feels on the skin, as especially during the day I don't like having heavyweight moisturisers on, and again, which is a recurring theme with this collection, there is the slightest hint of jasmine fragrance in there, and so this can be used on all skin types and won't irritate sensitive skins. The formula contains Vitamin A (retinol), jasmine oil and peptides which work together to renew, smooth and deeply nourish the skin. Working with the Oils, this is a winning combination for much more healthier, refined and well-moisturised skin.
Pixi have not left out the eyes with this fabulous new collection - the Pixi Retinol Eye Cream (£22.00 for 25ml, which again, is such amazing value for such a high volume of eye cream) comes in a cool squeezy tube, which has a see-through plastic applicator, which I freakin' love, as so often with eye creams I will be squeezing and loads of product will come out because I cannot see how near it is to the applicator. The Eye Cream has been formulated to improve elasticity, smooth and protect the delicate skin around the eye area - and let's face it, the majority of fine lines and wrinkles do start to appear around the eye area than anywhere else on the skin and so when it comes to this collection, a retinol eye cream is the real hero here. The main ingredients include obviously retinol to smooth and refine, and then caffeine to de-puff and energise the eye area, and then peptides which help to firm and revitalise the skin. I also discovered that you can also use this product around the lips to smooth, renew and minimise any fine lines that are starting to appear around that area too, so you are getting a two-in-one product here!
You can find the Pixi Skintreats Retinol Jasmine collection online at Pixi here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
