Catrice New Products - Spring 2021 - Review

Tuesday 23 March 2021

Catrice Cosmetics are a sister brand of Essence Cosmetics, and if you have been around here for a while, you will know how much I love Essence. Catrice is a slightly more 'grown-up' version of Essence - their products are amazing value and they work so well just like Essence. Today I am sharing with you some of Catrice's new releases for Spring 2021, both makeup and skincare.

Starting with one of their most popular new releases, the Catrice True Skin Hydrating Foundation* (£6.95 for 30ml), this is a long-wear foundation that gives medium to full coverage. It is available in just over 20 shades, which for the price range, I think is just great! I have it here in the shade 002 Neutral Ivory which is for very fair skin tones with a neutral undertone and I could probably have gone up a shade to be honest. The True Skin Foundation has a pump applicator, which I always prefer as it allows you to control the amount of product you are dispensing. I have quite an uneven skin-tone with some redness on the cheeks and I find that this conceals the redness to leave a much smoother, more flawless base. The formula is lightweight and contains Hyaluronic Acid and Watermelon Seed Oil to keep the skin hydrated and nourished throughout the day, and it gives a matte finish without looking dry or cakey.

Along with uneven skin-tone, I also suffer from quite enlarged pores, and so the Catrice Pore Minimizing Serum* (£2.50 for 30ml) is a must-have if you suffer from a similar thing. It comes in a glass bottle complete with a pipette applicator so you can apply it straight onto the skin or use your fingertips. The Pore Minimizing Serum contains 10% Niacinamide which is a proven ingredient to reduce the visibility of enlarged pores and helps to regulate skin sebum content, which makes it great for oily or combination skin types. I have combination skin and I find that my pores are largest on my cheek area, so I always apply it there. I personally don't apply it all over the skin as I don't think I need it everywhere, but I do find it really helps to tighten my pores on my cheek area and nose. You only need a couple of drops and so this is going to last ages, and the price is insane!

Due to the recent cold weather, my skin has been looking a little dull lately, and I have found the Catrice Glow Overnight AHA Treatment* (£5.99 for 30ml) an excellent addition to my skincare routine. This face serum comes in a glass bottle with a pipette applicator just like the Pore Minimizing Serum and contains 5% Glycolic Acid (AHA) which gently exfoliates the skin to create a smooth, radiant complexion to help brighten up the skin. Other skin-loving ingredients include Chamomile and Aloe Vera which are great for nourishing and soothing the skin to keep it healthy and more radiant. You only need to use it 2-3 times a week, so it is so quick and easy to include in your skincare regime, and you simply apply 1-2 drops onto the skin after cleansing and before moisturising to see results. As it is a AHA treatment, I would not recommend using it daily as too much AHA can cause irritation on the skin.

The final skincare-type product I have to share with you is the Catrice Clean ID Highly Caring Lip Balm* (£3.95 for 4.8g). This lip balm is a part of the Clean ID range, which means it contains 98% natural ingredients and no environmentally-damaging microplastics- it really is amazing to see so many brands stepping up when it comes to creating these types of products to help the environment. This is a clear lip balm which contains 3% Hemp Oil, which is known for its high Vitamin E content and so it leaves your lips feeling super soft and cared for. The formula is lightweight, and very comfortable to wear as it is not sticky or heavy on the lips and so you could even apply it underneath or on top of other lip products, so that you are protecting your lips even when wearing other products.

Sticking with lips, next up is the Catrice Matt Pro Ink Liquid Lipstick* (£4.99 for 5ml), which I have here in the shades 050 My Life - My Decision, which is a beautiful Pink Nude and 090 This Is My Statement, a classic blue-toned red shade. There are ten shades to choose from in total and this is a long-lasting, lightweight liquid lipstick that dries down matte, but is not at all drying on the lips and is therefore super comfortable to wear. Not only is this not a drying formula, it also contains Moringa Butter which is a nourishing ingredient to keep the lips moisturised, plumped and hydrated whilst wearing this Liquid Lipstick. I love a classic red shade all year round, but it is so hard to get an excellent formula that doesn't smudge or budge, but this one is transfer and smudge-proof, so you can rest assured that you are going to get a perfect red pout.

For the brows, we have the Catrice Brow Definer Long-Lasting Brush Pen* (£3.49 for 0.7ml), which is available in four different shades. Here I have Dark Blonde, bur I could probably do with a darker shade, as even though I am fair to light-skinned, I am naturally a brunette. However, I was still able to test out the formula and I will definitely be picking up a darker shade as I was beyond impressed! This liquid eyebrow brush features a super thin nib that also has a flat, broader side to help you accurately fill in and style the brows. The nib and super lightweight yet long-lasting formula allows you to create single brow hairs, which as someone who has naturally barely-there brows, this allows me to create a much fuller look without going too over the top. I love how easy this is to use, and the formula dries down pretty quickly without looking heavy or matte, and instead gives a beautiful natural finish.

Last, but not least, we have the Catrice 24h Brush Liner* (£2.99 for 3ml), in the shade 010 Ultra Black. This precise eyeliner allows you to create an easy and quick eyeliner look that is going to last all day long without any budging or smudging, which let's face it, is one of the most important things about liquid eyeliners - nobody wants that panda eye look! The formula contains Coconut Water, which is moisturising and is something I find important when using products around the delicate eye area and it dries down quickly to a pretty, matte finish. I am not at all a pro when it comes to applying liquid eyeliner, but due to the neat, petite nib, I found this super easy to use.
