Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautifying Oil Review

Monday, 1 March 2021

I have tried a few different Kerastase shampoo and conditioners in the past, and they are pricey, but they do work so when I received the Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautfying Oil in a recent beauty box, I was thrilled to be able to try it!

This Elixir Oil is a multi-purpose product, which can be used as a pre-wash treatment, a leave-in serum and a pre/post styling oil. I personally found that it works best as a hair serum, it has a nice lightweight texture to it and so doesn't weigh the hair down but gives it a subtle sheen. I have quite fine hair so I found one pump of this the perfect amount, but if you have thicker, long hair, then I would recommend maybe two pumps max.

The Kerastase Elixir Ultime comes in a glass bottle and has a golden pump applicator, so it does feel rather luxe to have and you receive 100ml, and so this does last a very long time for me personally. Due to lockdown I haven't been able to get my hair done at the salon - I normally have blonde highlights - and so my hair is starting to look a little dull and this seems to do a brilliant job of perking it up.

It is expensive, with a RRP of £39.00, however you can find it on offer for around £30.00 normally, and a I say, you can probably get around 100 uses out of it, depending on how much you use. This shine-enhancing oil seals split ends and smooths the hair fibre to leave it looking sleeker and more 'finished'. I found that it controlled my frizziness and it does protect the hair from heated styling products up to 230 degrees, although I never use this level of heat due to having fine hair.

The formula is fragranced, which I find most haircare products are, and I don't mind a fragrance in the majority of products. This one is infused with Violet Leaf, Freesia, Mandarin and a touch of woody notes and musk extract, so it is super yummy and the scent reminds me of being in a salon. I go to the Mark Hill salon, and whilst I do use some of his products, I do sometimes like to try other things as I think our hair, just like our skin, can get used to products and so it is nice to switch things up.

Is it worth the price tag? I still have a fair bit of product left, and so I don't need to re-purchase as yet, but if I found it on offer, then I would definitely buy it again, as it has really helped the dryness on the ends of my hair and added shine to it.

You can find the Kerastase Elixir Ultime online at retailers such as Look Fantastic here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
