More than ever, we are struggling to relax and get to sleep on an evening, and with so many brands out there, producing products that will help us get a good night's sleep, how do we know which ones to trust? Made By Coopers is a modern apothecary brand that creates natural and organic products for your skin and soul.
Made By Coopers believes in creating natural, clean products that leave the skin radiant and nourished and the mind and body restored to perfect harmony. Nutrient rich plant oils, therapeutic grade essential oils, flower hydrolats and botanical actives are used throughout and each product has an aromatherapy element to it. Each and every product is 100% free from parabens, SLSs, Mineral Oil, Sulphates, Artificial Colours and Synthetic fragrances and they are a vegan friendly and cruelty-free company.
I was very kindly recently sent some beautiful products from their Sleepy Head collection to try out. Firstly, is the Made By Coopers Sleepy Head Bath Salt Blend* (£7.50 for 100g, £22.50 for 500g), to help you achieve a mineral rich bath that is infused with soothing lavender and frankincense to help you prepare for a blissful night's sleep. The only ingredients are all natural, including Epsom Salt, Himalayan Salt, Lavender, Frankincense Essential Oil and Lavender Buds. This smells heavenly, and you simply pour a large handful under warm running water and then relax. Pop on a face mask, read a book, have a glass of wine, and just relax. Be sure to take time out for yourself. There are other fragrances available within the Bath Salt Blends and I also have the Made By Coopers Eucalyptus Rosemary Bath Salt Blend* (£7.50 for 100g, £22.50 for 500g). If you work on your feet all day, or have an illness like I do (Endometriosis), sometimes aches and pains need some TLC. The Eucalyptus Rosemary blend contains Epsom Salts, Himalayan Salt, Dead Sea Salt, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil and Lavender Oil to ease muscular aches and pains and to help you relax. This blend of essential oils has inflammatory properties and so it will also help to ease any swelling and Epsom Salt is renowned for helping to relieve tired, stiff and aching muscles. These really are a wonderful little pick-me-up.
I wish you could all smell the Made By Coopers Sleepy Head Balm* (£16.00 for 60g), because oh my goodness it is heaven! It reminds me of being in a spa, having a massage or a facial, all of that lavender goodness coming through. This multifunctional sleep balm is infused with Lavender and Frankincense essential oils and vitamin-rich Hemp Oil to heal and soothe the skin, calm the mind and help you drift off to sleep. I do get very dry skin anyway in certain areas, and so a balm like this is something I often use to help with that. This can be applied anywhere, however for a more relaxation purpose, I would recommend massaging gently into the wrists and temples, taking a deep breath in to help calm and soothe your mind, ready for bed time. The Balm looks quite solid in the glass jar, but as soon as you apply it, it melts like butter into the skin, instantly hydrating and nourishing the skin.
I have tried many different pillow mists throughout the years, but not many have been all that successful, however the Made By Coopers Sleepy Head Room & Pillow Spray* (£16.50 for 100ml) is different. It comes in a beautifully simple but aesthetically pleasing glass bottle with a spray nozzle and this pillow mist has been formulated using Lavender, Frankincense and Chamomile Essential Oils to create that spa-like serene feeling. It isn't overly powerful in that it is too heavy or fragrant, but it still gives off plenty of scent and as soon as I get out of the bath, I like to spritz this on my pillows and bedding to let it settle into the fabrics before I get into bed. I have been using this a few weeks now and along with the Bath Salts and the Balm, I have found myself in a much deeper state of relaxation, which has helped me have a more peaceful night's sleep.
I work on computers around six days a week, which I know, isn't great, but it is my job and my hobby, but I do struggle with tired, strained eyes and the Made By Coopers Lavender & Flaxseed Eye Pillow* (£15.00) is an excellent remedy for this. The eye pillow is made from 100% natural linen and works by gently moulding to the contours of the face with a light pressure, blocking out light, relieving tensions and calming the muscles around the eyes. This can also be used in yoga and meditation, relaxation and of course before bedtime to help aid natural sleep. You can pop this in the microwave to use as a heated eye pad (which is amazing in the cold, Winter months) or as a cold compress to help relieve sunburn and inflammation by placing in the freezer 50-60 minutes before use. The Natural Lavender used in this Eye Pillow is renowned for its soothing and calming properties, and for relieving stress and anxieties to help prepare the body and mind for relaxation. I also find that using this whilst in bed ensures I can't see my phone light up, so it makes me less likely to reach for it and start mindlessly scrolling!
