Current Five Favourite Lip Products - May 2021 - Patrick Ta, Laura Mercier, Huda Beauty, MAC & Bare Minerals

I love switching up my lip products - they are probably the beauty product I buy the most of as a lip colour or formula can completely change a makeup look, and can also change my mood. This past month or so I have mainly been reaching for glosses as they help to make my naturally thin lips look slightly fuller, but there is also a matte liquid lipstick and a regular lipstick I have been reaching for a lot too.

As I have mentioned a tonne of times, I mainly watch American You Tubers and one of my favourites, Allie Glines mentioned the Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine (£19.00 for 7ml) and so I picked it up the shade She's An Influencer. There are three shades available in this particular formula, and She's An Influencer is a pretty warm rose gloss with iridescent shimmer running throughout it. The Gloss comes in a pretty tube with a rose gold cap and a pointed, slanted flocked applicator. The formula has an advanced gel system which gives the lips a glass-like finish that stays put without feathering or any stickiness and it super comfortable to wear. Due to the glowy shimmer, it creates the illusion of plumper lips and with its slightly balm-like texture, I find it really hydrating on the lips too. (Due to shimmery glosses not showing up on camera, I have tried my best to photograph this product to the best of my abilities, but it isn't a true representation and does look much better in real life).

Another beautiful gloss is the Laura Mercier Lip Glace (£23.00 for 4.5g) in the shade Rose Gold Accent, which again doesn't show up at all on camera, but it is one of the prettiest glosses I own. The Lip Glace has a regular slanted flocked applicator and is available in many different colours and textures. Rose Gold Accent is a gorgeous soft pink with lots of pink and gold micro shimmer running through it. It gives the lips a rich, long-lasting, high shine to them and the formula contains a blend of moisturising, anti-ageing, anti-oxidant and plumping ingredients. I love how smoothly this applies onto the lips and that the formula isn't sticky or gloopy, making it the perfect gloss to wear for all occasions. I definitely want to try out some other shades in this formula. (Due to shimmery glosses not showing up on camera, I have tried my best to photograph this product to the best of my abilities, but it isn't a true representation and does look much better in real life).

As we are still wearing face coverings, I do have a favourite matte liquid lipstick as they just stay on the lips so much better without transferring. I have been enjoying the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick (£18.00 for 5ml) in the shade Bikini Babe. This legendary liquid matte lipstick gives a one-swipe-situation application as it has such excellent pigment and the formula is buttery, without being drying on the lips like some liquid lipsticks. Bikini Babe is the perfect everyday slightly peach-toned light nude and I am obsessed! The formula is budge-proof and is made using antioxidants to keep the lips hydrated and nourished. Some liquid lipsticks can feel heavy on the lips, but this has a lovely lightweight and silky feeling and as someone who would choose a liquid lipstick last, I have certainly been getting my use out of this lately.

As I mentioned, I have been loving glosses lately and my next current favourite is the MAC Powerglass Plumping Lip Gloss (£19.00 for 2.8ml) in the shade Gee, That's Swell. This was actually a gift with purchase, which makes it even better! The shade Gee, That's Swell is a neutral pink with gold pearl and is super pretty for both Spring and Summer. Powerglass is a high-shine lipstick formula that instantly volumises the lips with hydration and long-term plumping power, which isn't something you get with many lip plumping glosses. The innovative formula features a proprietary tingling complex with Ginger, Capsicum and Menthol Crystals that increases stimulation and hydration the lips along with a cooling effect. The formula also contains Hyaluronic Acid, Avocado Oil and Coconut Oil to provide plenty of moisture to the lips, and as I have had quite dry lips lately, I think that is one of the main reasons I have been reaching for this so much. (Due to shimmery glosses not showing up on camera, I have tried my best to photograph this product to the best of my abilities, but it isn't a true representation and does look much better in real life).

The final of my current favourite lip products is the Bare Minerals Mineralist Hydra-Smoothing Lipstick (£20.00 for 3.6g) in the shade Memory. The Lipstick comes in matte gold packaging and the shade Memory is a beautiful warm nude. I really love this formula and would definitely pick more colours up as it contains minimal ingredients and so it is a more natural, vegan and cruelty free lipstick. It has a creamy formula that contains Cold-Pressed Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil, Mediterranean Olive Oil Extract and natural oils extracted from Moroccan Pomegranate and Jojoba so it is very hydrating and nourishing on the lips, as well as being super comfortable to wear. If you have fine lines on the lips, this will really work for you, as the smoothing formula helps to smooth those lines out and as it is so hydrating, the formula also helps to make the lips look fuller.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
