The Ole Henriksen Balance It All Skincare Set Review

This post contains a gifted item.

I have always suffered with enlarged pores, and it is something you can't really 100% get rid of, but the Ole Henriksen Balance It All Skincare Set* (£32.00) is an excellent option to help reduce the appearance of pores and is a great little kit that contains good-sized products to get a feel for the Balancing range.

This three piece set contains oil-controlling skincare essentials that are best suited to combination and oily skin types to mattify, reduce the appearance of pores and balance out the complexion. You receive the Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser (60ml), the Balancing Force Oil Control Toner (65ml) and the Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator (15ml). I often buy these kinds of skincare kits for when I am going away for the week or two weeks (pre/post Covid), as they are sizeable enough to get plenty of use out of and to understand if they work well for your skin, but not too big that you are taking full sizes of skincare products with you.

The Ole Henriksen Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser comes in a squeezy tube and is formulated with Green Fusion Complex and Neem Seed Oil. Its deep cleansing action helps to unclog and purify the pores without stripping the skin of its much-needed natural oils, while the invigorating eucalyptus scent helps to really awaken the senses and uplift the mind. Powerful AHAs - Glycolic and Lactic Acids - help to loosen and lift dead skin cells that can cause pores to clog up and you are left with instantly refreshed and balanced skin. To use, you simply apply the cleanser to wet skin and massage it in an upward, circular motion and then rinse with clean lukewarm water. I find this very comfortable on my skin and I do have combination sensitive skin at the moment, and I get absolutely zero irritability.

The next step in the routine is the Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner, a concentrated facial astringent that effectively removes excess oil and refines pores, again without stripping the skin of natural oils. The Toner is formulated with Green Fusion Complex again, and contains Salicylic, Glycolic and Lactic Acids along with Neem Seed Oil and has a gentle clarifying action that helps to unclog, purify and minimise the appearance of pores. I find this a very refreshing, not at all drying toner and it has a lovely, energising eucalyptus peppermint scent to it. I know not everyone likes fragrance in their skincare, but when it is natural fragrance, I always really enjoy it. The Toner gives the complexion a fresh, healthy look to the skin, whilst also keeping it mattified throughout the day. You simply apply it onto a cotton pad or reusable pad and swipe over dry skin in a circular motion, both morning and night.

Finally, the Ole Henriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator is a lightweight, mattifying moisturiser that gives the right levels of moisture and hydration to oily and combination skin. Many people with oily skin think they should skip oils and moisturisers, but the skin needs hydration to look its healthy best. Once again, this moisturiser is powered by the Green Fusion Complex and contains Green Tea, Eucalyptus, Algae and Irish Moss Extracts along with Neem Seed Oil and AHAs to keep pores clear and the complexion matte all day long, whilst still maintaining optimal hydration and a healthy balance. The product comes with a push-down applicator so you can control the amount of product you are using and I also find that it really helped improve the wear of my foundation - my pores were a lot less noticeable and I had no slipping and sliding of my makeup throughout the day when my skin would normally get oily on my T-Zone.

All the Loves,
