The L'Oreal x Elie Saab Makeup Collection Review + Swatches

Wednesday 12 May 2021

L'Oreal have recently teamed up with Elie Saab to bring out a beautiful makeup collection, the L'Oreal x Elie Saab edit. The collection consists of an eyeshadow palette, a mascara, three lip glosses and four lipsticks, and the packaging is a soft pink and gold, and is oh so pretty! This complete makeup range was designed to celebrate your wedding in glamorous style, from the elegant bride to a glam hen party look, and whilst I am completely single, and don't have a wedding coming up, I still this this is such a beautiful collection and I just had to try it.

The L'Oreal x Elie Saab Le Volume Haute Couture Mascara (£12.99) comes in a soft pink and gold tube with a traditional bristle brush applicator that is reminiscent of the L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara. This upgraded formula is now suitable for sensitive eyes and is enriched with lash-loving castor oil to give the lashes lots of volume and a feather-soft feel. The super soft brush coats the lashes with gentle oils for a soft-gliding and flake-free application and the formula also contains soothing cornflower water and nourishing rose oil, so not only do your lashes look great, they feel great and are being treated and nourished at the same time. On the lashes, this mascara definitely has a similar look to the Lash Paradise, so if you love that, then you will definitely adore this new updated version.

The L'Oreal x Elie Saab La Palette Eyeshadow Palette (£15.99) is definitely my favourite product in the collection. It has a gold compact, with a soft pink faux leather cut out design on the lid, and a mirror on the inside, as well as nine good-sized pans. There is a mixture of mattes and shimmers, and I love the colour story in this palette, as it isn't what I thought of when I knew the collection was bridal-inspired. You do have pretty, elegant nudes, light golds and pink-shift nudes, but you also have a stunning lilac shimmer, and some beautiful warm browns and forest green shades. The pigmentation is spot on, and the shadows blend super easily onto the eyes, making sure you don't need to be an expert at applying eyeshadow to create a beautiful look. I think this is also a really great travel palette, as you really do get such a variety of shades and textures, and as it is a nice, compact size, with a good-sized mirror, it makes it handy for travelling with.

There are four L'Oreal x Elie Saab Le Lipstick (£9.99) colour options to choose from, and each one comes in a pretty pink and gold casing. The lipsticks themselves have a beautiful pattern embossed onto them, and a slanted tip for easy application. The four shades are Musc Impact, a dusky pink nude, Rose Bang, a mauve-toned nude, Royal Attitude, a classic blue-toned red and Santal Clash, a warm-toned deepish nude. The formula is super creamy, and I found it very nourishing and hydrating on the lips, which may be down to the fact the lipsticks contain Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E, but they are certainly very comfortable and long-lasting to wear. All four shades have an elegant satin finish, which I tend to prefer as I find that kind of finish very flattering on most skin types and tones and they look really pretty on the lips.

Last but of course not least, there are three L'Oreal x Elie Saab Brilliance Lip Glosses (£10.99) in the collection. Following on the theme, these glosses have a clear tube and then a pink and gold lid. The wands have a unique 8-shaped flocked applicator, which ensures a smooth application and the formula is non sticky and volumising to give the appearance of fuller lips. As I mentioned, there are three shades to choose from, Ambre Choc is a slightly peach pink, with gold iridescent fine glitter running through it, Oud Provocant is the prettiest muted pink and Spice Drama is a soft berry tone. All three shades are flattering on the lips and I love that they have a fun shimmer in there too. They are extremely comfortable to wear and I find they feel very nourishing and hydrating on the lips, leaving my lips feeling lovely and soft even when the formula has worn off.

You can find the L'Oreal x Elie Saab collection online at Superdrug here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
