The Pomelo Box - Spring is in the Air April Edition 2021 Review

Saturday 8 May 2021

This post contains a gifted item.

There is a brand new beauty and lifestyle box in town - The Pomelo Box* and the thing I first noticed about this beautiful box is firstly the amount of detail that has gone into curating the box and that it helps to support small businesses, something that has been more important than ever this past year.

The Pomelo Box was created to support talented UK artisans and smaller businesses and every three months, they curate a new themed box, which is curated using products from artisan brands based in the UK. They like to look for products that focus on sustainability and promote transparency, as well as brands that support fair trade practices. Boxes are a different theme each quarter, so you will never get the same item twice and each box contains a minimum of five full sized products, free postage and packaging a variety of products from health and beauty, home, stationery, jewellery and confectionary, so it is such a treat and the retail value of the box will always be much more than the cost of the box to the consumer.

The first edition of The Pomelo Box has been created with a 'Spring is in the Air' theme, and contains seven full sized items. First up is the most beautiful fused glass hanging heart (RRP £20.00) in shades of peacock blue and duck-egg blue colours. Blues and greens are my favourite colours and so this is perfect for me. I can hang it up at home, but I also wanted to use it in some of my blog photos as my current theme is Summer and shades of blue. The Heart is from Morpheus Glass Studio, based in Lancashire and is the owner, Stephanie's latest design - how absolutely cool is that?! I went over to Morpheus' website and oh my goodness - there are so many gorgeous designs as well as splashbacks, wall clocks and so much more and I wouldn't have even known about the company if it wasn't for The Pomelo Box!

We then have the Bettyhula Nourishing Anti-Bacterial Hand Moisturiser (£12.99 for 150ml) in the scent Lime & Mango. It comes in a pretty frosted glass bottle with a pump dispenser, so it is super quick and easy to use. Bettyhula is a 100% vegan and cruelty free brand that provide beautifully hand crafted products to rejuvenate the skin and provide softness throughout the day. They are based in Yorkshire (yay!) and don't use chemical nasties, making them perfect for even sensitive skin types. My hands have been getting so dry and sore due to constant hand washing and the use of anti-bacterial hand sanitisers and so this is the perfect product to include, in my opinion. Not only does this hand cream smell incredible, and leave my hands feeling super nourished without leaving behind any residue, but it also contains an antibacterial formula! Genius!

For this quarter's confectionary treat, you receive a bar of the Seed and Bean Coconut and Raspberry Single Origin Dark Chocolate (£2.95 for 85g). Seed and Bean was founded in 2005 with the idea to create an ethical range of confectionary. They use organic ingredients, small-scale suppliers and are wild and brave with their flavours. The Bars are 100% organic and are handmade in England, using 100% compostable foil. There are eighteen wonderful flavours to choose from, with milk, dark and white chocolate all an option. This is certainly a delicious way to be more sustainable with your purchases and the price is excellent value for the quality of the ingredients and the super yummy taste.

For the body, you receive the Vetivert & Co Lavender & Vetivert Dead Sea Salt Body Polish (£30.00 for 250ml). Vetivert & Co creates plant-based body and skincare, using plant oils that nourish and heal the skin. The brand started due to the owner's struggle with acne and each product is skilfully blended to encourage tranquillity of the mind and to nourish the skin. They make clean beauty formulations and all products are 100% natural and scented with 100% natural essential oils. The Body Polish comes in a fancy glass tub and it smells insanely beautiful - I adore anything with lavender in anyway, but you can really smell the naturalness of the lavender and it isn't in any way, shape or form a false lavender fragrance. The Body Polish isn't overly abrasive, but manages to rid the skin of dead skin cells, leaving it soft, smooth and highly nourished due to the natural oils used. This truly is the perfect product to relax and de-stress with, allowing you to take a little time out for yourself.

Next, you receive something for the home - an Arya candle (£8.00) in the Grapefruit & Lime fragrance. the candle is pretty with a white glass jar and a gold butterfly design on the front. Arya Candles are created by mother-daughter duo Lina & Jenny, who are based in Suffolk and who create candles and home fragrance using 100% natural ingredients. They design all of their scent blends using high quality essential oils, bringing beautiful, mood-boosting, therapeutic scents in your home. The thing that warmed my heart with this company is that through the sale of their products, they sponsor women from former war-torn countries through a 12 month programme via Women for Women International. The year-long programme equips women to earn money, regain their confidence and participate in their communities, as well as learning a life-long skill. How absolutely amazing is that? Not only are you getting something beautiful for your home, and supporting a small business, but you are also helping women who are in need of help. The candle has a 15-20 hour burn time and is created using creamy rapeseed wax, high quality botanical oils and a cotton wick. It smells absolutely divine with an uplifting fragrance that is bound to up your mood.

You then receive the Mei Botanic Studio Tsubaki Blue Treatment Concentrate (15ml for £11.10), which is just the most delightful skincare product as you can see some of the ingredients inside the bottle. This is a blend of cold-pressed, unrefined, non-comedogenic seed oils with calming German chamomile, French lavender and wild palo santo oils. This facial oil contains natural ingredients and works to regulate skin oils, preventing excess oil production which often leads to oily skin. It has a lightweight texture and soaks deep into the skin's layer. You simply take a few drops from the pipette onto wet skin after cleansing, both morning and evening, and massage into the skin and then allow to dry naturally for softer, more supple and hydrated skin. Mei Botanic Studio is based in London and they design minimal, plant-infused skincare products which are derived from nature. They use plant and seed oils, flowers and clays that are either wild-foraged, Soil Association Certified Organic or Ecocert and each product is vegan, cruelty free 100% derived from nature.

One of my favourite items in the box has to be the Rainbowbom Seedbom from Kabloom (£4.50). This little nugget of joy is filled with a cheerful mix of rainbow-inspired wildflower seeds such as Common Poppy, Common Vetch, Bird's Foot Trefoil, Corn Marigold, Cornflower and Corn Cockle. To use, you simply pull the pin and throw or drop the Seedbom into areas of your garden that are in need of brightening up. Seedboms like bare soil, natural light and to be kept damp whilst growing and the packaging of the bom will biodegrade into the environment, leaving only pretty wildflowers behind. How absolutely delightful! Kabloom founder Darren Wilson focused his attention on eco-design back in the early 2000s at university, and decided to create something new and designed a product that could reconnect people with nature, even in a small way, to get people outside and create nature and colour in their cities. Seedbom was born as Darren wanted to create something fun, affordable and a little divisive, hence the grenade shape.

The Pomelo Spring is in the Air Box normally retails for £49.99, with a value of nearly £90.00, however it is currently on offer for just £44.99 here. I think The Pomelo Box is really something very special, due to the variety of items, the price and of course the fact that you are helping to support so many small businesses and beyond!

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
