Now that Summer is in full swing (yes, I am ignoring the fact it has given rain for the next week), I wanted to showcase some of my favourite Summer scents. Whether this be perfume, body lotion or body sprays.
First up, we have the Estee Lauder Beautiful Magnolia Eau de Parfum* (50ml for £72.00), which I first tried back in March as it really caught my interest. This is a floral fragrance, and the freshness and creaminess of this scent make it perfect for Spring and Summer. Beautiful Magnolia contains top notes of Magnolia Petals, Mate and Water Lotus, heart notes of Magnolia Oil, Solar Gardenia and Turkish Rose and base notes of Cedarwood, Sandalwood and Illumina Musk, ensuring the fragrance isn't overly floral and has some depth to it. The fragrance comes in a pretty, feminine bottle and I think this is such a lovely scent for everyday wear.
As our skin gets dry due to the sunshine in the warmer months, the Yardley Freesia & Bergamot Moisturising Body Mist* (£4.50 for 200ml) is an excellent option. This is a refreshing, light citrus floral fragrance with energising top notes of Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin and Cypress, with a heart of Freesia, Lily of the Valley, Ginger and Pepper and a sensual base of Sandalwood, Musk and Amber. The formula contains Sweet Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Glycerin and Vitamin E to keep the skin soft and moisturised as well as leaving it smelling beautiful and is long-lasting, quick-drying and non-staining.
If you are looking for a fragrance to take you from day to evening, then I would highly recommend the Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle Eau de Parfum* (£97.00 for 100ml). The bottle itself is absolutely stunning and is something you would definitely want to display, with a collar of gold roses and a beautiful deep red ombre design. This fragrance is the result of the fusion of addictive Vanilla Pod, fresh Bergamot and beautiful Pear. It is an empowering fragrance without being too overbearing, which is why I think it is perfect for both day and night and as it is an eau de parfum, rather than an eau de toilette, a little goes a long way and this fragrance lasts long into the night. Super sexy!
The MOR Marshmallow Body Cream* (£23.00 for 250ml) comes in the prettiest floral packaging! This is a silky, whipped body cream that has been formulated for intense absorption, with emollient to soothe and protect dry skin, which is perfect for after a day in the sun. The Marshmallow fragrance combines Vanilla Musk, Jasmine Flower, Sugar dipped Rose Petals, White Carnation and Cotton Candy to give the softest, sweetest, delicate scent and I am obsessed! This is a real girly scent and the body cream itself is so nourishing and rich but doesn't take ages to dry, so I like to apply it on an evening after a bath so that I wake up to super soft, smooth skin.
On a Summer's evening, I really enjoy wearing a more spicier, oriental scent and the Paco Rabanne Lady Million Fabulous Eau de Parfum* (£87.50 for 80ml) is THE one! I am literally obsessed! Lady Million Fabulous comes dressed in all the gold and black glitter and is an oriental floral fragrance, which was created to incarnate the hypnotic thrill of music and the rushing joy of dance. Super cool! The scent contains vibrant Pink Pepper, fresh Mandarin, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, creamy Tuberose (Tuberose is my all time favourite fragrance note!), elegant Moss, Tonka Bean and Rich Vanilla to create a long-lasting fragrance that provides sparkling white florals that clash with a deeply seductive base.
If romance is your thing, you will love the Estee Lauder Beautiful Belle Eau de Parfum* (£72.00 for 50ml). It comes in the same elegant glass bottle as Beautiful Magnolia, and contains top notes of Lychee, Rose Petals and Mimosa, with a heart of Orange Flower, Gardenia and Tuberose (yes, again, my absolute favourite as it adds real depth to the scent), and base notes of Orris Root, Blush Suede Accord, Marzipan Musk and Ambrox. Beautiful Belle is a rich, sensual yet romantic fragrance that is beautiful to wear both day and night, and once again, as it is an Eau de Parfum, a little goes a long way, so just a couple of spritzes of this beautiful scent will last throughout the day.
I picked up the Sol De Janeiro Coco Cabana Body Fragrance Mist (£18.00 for 90ml) in the Harrods Beauty Hall in Milton Keynes as I am obsessed with their fragrances - they just scream summer to me! The Sol De Janeiro Body Fragrance Mist comes in cool mint green and white packaging and features a Coconut Cream top note, a rich warm Vanilla and tropical Orchid heart and woody notes of Sandalwood and nutty Toasted Praline for the base notes. it is a very refreshing mist and for me, the epitome of Summer. It is on the pricier side for a body mist, but the fragrance just wins me over.
If you love something floral, the Yardley Flowerful Collection Decadent Mimosa Eau de Toilette* (£15.00 for 50ml) is a beautiful option. It comes in a beautiful bright floral box and is a perfume inspired by bountiful, beautiful and blossoming floral bouquets. Decadent Mimosa opens with spicy fruit notes of Mandarin, Pear and Pink Pepper and this indulgent green floral fragrance leads to a beautiful sunny heart of fresh, sweet and bright Mimosa Flowers, combining powdery Violet, Iris and Lily of the Valley, resting on a sensual base of Sandalwood, Vanilla and Musk. It is a wonderful Summer day scent.
As I mentioned, I have a love of anything coconut scented, not just in Summer but all year round. The Lavera Exotic Organic Coconut & Organic Vanilla Body Lotion* (£8.95 for 200ml) is a light way to get that coconut scent whilst also keeping the body hydrated. This Body Lotion has a sweet warm aroma of organic Vanilla which soothes and calms the skin together with velvety organic Coconut, rich in essential fatty acids to help the skin maintain elasticity and suppleness. It has a light formula which quickly melts into the skin without leaving a greasy residue behind, and so is great for soothing dry skin.
Ending on another winner, is the Jean Paul Gaultier So Scandal! Eau de Parfum* (£79.99 for 80ml), which as in keeping with Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances, keeps in a beautiful velveteen tin, and the bottle has some fancy gold legs popping out of the top. So Scandal! is a fragrance that adds class and a beautiful depth of scent without being overpowering, so you could of course wear it both day and night. This intoxicating scent contains a burst of Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Tuberose (yay!) which strike the senses with a sensual elegance. The addiction of its milky notes intoxicatingly envelopes them with an addictive floral sillage. So Scandal! is one of those fragrances that people will notice as your signature scent, so be prepared to be asked which fragrance you are wearing!
