Summer Haircare Must-Haves

Today I am bringing you all of the must-have Summer haircare products. To cleanse, protect, style and refresh your hair this Summer and beyond...

First up, it has to be the Batiste Dry Shampoo* (£3.25 for 200ml), I have used this for years, and the brand has recently had a packaging re-haul, which looks really pretty and bright. After a day in the sunshine, you don't always need or want to wash your hair, but a quick spritz of Batiste Dry Shampoo gently cleans and refreshes the hair, without leaving a white cast behind. Some of the scents include Blush, a flirty floral, Cherry, Original, the classic fresh fragrance and Tropical, exotic coconut. So not only will your hair look great, but it will smell delicious too!

The Umberto Giannini Boho Beach collection is perfect for Summer, and here are my two favourites from the range. The Umberto Giannini Catch a Wave Coconut Oil Beach Texture Spray* (£7.25 for 200ml) contains UV filters to protect the hair from colour fade. This texture spray gives you great beachy texture and volume, whilst nourishing Coconut Oil help to condition the hair, so you don't get the hard, scrunchy texture. The formula contains an uplifting Bergamot and Mandarin fragrance which leaves the hair smelling beautiful. If you have curly hair, you will love the Umberto Giannini Boho Beach Jelly Coconut Oil Scrunching Jelly* (£7.25 for 300ml). This product enhances and defrizzes beachy curls and waves and contains nourishing Coconut Oil and UV filters to help protect against colour fade. You simply apply the Jelly evenly through mid lengths and the ends of towel dried hair, scrunch dry with a diffuser or leave to air dry, for the best boho chic hair.

For a great leave-in conditioner, I would recommend the Khali Min Clean Cream* (£25.00 for 120ml). The Clean Cream softens, hydrates and detangles the hair, protecting it against dryness and breakage. It is formulated with Rosehip Oil to moisturise, Aloe to hydrate, Murumuru Butter to soften and Broccoli Seed Oil to provide silicone-free slip. This is suitable for all hair types, and can be used daily, applying a small amount to damp hair and then combing through and styling as normal. I adore how smooth, sleek and nourished this leaves my hair feeling and whilst it is up there in price, a small amount goes a really long way, so you are going to get a lot of use from this.

If your hair is feeling a little dry or damaged from heat, chlorine or styling tools, then the perfect cleansing products for this are the HASK Argan Oil Repairing Shampoo* (£6.99 for 355ml) and Repairing Conditioner* (£6.99 for 355ml). The Repairing Shampoo is infused with moisturising Argan Oil and penetrates the hair shaft, gently cleansing while repairing damage and breakage. Suitable for dry, damaged or colour-treated hair, this shampoo leaves hair free of frizz, super silky and glossy. The Repairing Conditioner also contains moisturising Argan Oil, penetrating the hair shaft, gently softening and detangling the hair, whilst also protecting it against damage and breakage. This duo is free of sulphates, parabens, phthalates, drying alcohol and artificial colours.

One of my favourite American haircare brands, It's A 10, is now available here in the UK, and here are some of my must-haves from them. The It's A 10 Miracle Texture Fibre* (£17.00 for 88.72ml) adds just the dimension you are looking for. It comes in what reminds me of a toothpaste tube, so it is super easy to dispense and this texture product guards hair against frizz, flayaways and humidity whilst also keeping your style in place throughout the day. The paste feels super lightweight and doesn't leave behind any residue or tackiness once applied, leaving your hair super soft. The It's A 10 Miracle Firm Hold Gel* (£13.00 for 148ml) is great for those that prefer the reliable hold of a gel, but dislike a rock-hard finish. Created to keep hair firmly in place without sacrificing touchability and movement, this Gel is an emollient-rich product that can be used wet or dry to create amazing, but soft styles, providing a natural-looking hold. I don't use hairspray all of the time, but when I style my hair into curls or waves, a finishing spray is a must have and I love using the It's A 10 Miracle Finishing Spray* (£16.00 for 333ml). This powerhouse of a hair spray gives hair body and control with a workable, flexible hold. There is no stickiness or rock-hard hair here! It is completely safe to use on colour-treated hair and gives a weightless finish to the hair, keeping your style perfectly in place.

Living Proof create some of my favourite haircare products and so I had to include the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Body Builder (£23.00 for 257ml). This spray gives instant volume to the hair, and is completely customisable, allowing you to go from a little volume, to some serious volume! This comes from the nozzle that can be adjusted to lend the perfect amount of volume for you. The formula uses both flexible and firm polymers that work together to add airiness and movement alongside the light, touchable hold as well as offering to 230 degrees Celsius heat protection to ensure your hair stays protected from heat damage. I do love a multi-use product!

Another haircare item I have used for years is the Tangle Teezer and the Tangle Teezer Wet Detangling Hairbrush (£12.00) is one of my favourites. I picked this one up in Harrods Beauty, MK, as I loved the neon mint colour! Perfect for use on wet hair, this brush gently but confidently detangles vulnerable shower-fresh hair, helping to cause less breakage. I like to apply a conditioning treatment and then use this brush to even the product out before blow-drying and I always have a back-up as I find it is one of the best brushes for not causing damage to the hair whilst it is wet.

Another of my favourite American haircare brands that has since come to the UK is OGX, and here are some of my favourites. The OGX Extra Strength Damage Remedy + Coconut Miracle Oil Hair Mask* (£7.99 for 168g) is a Tahitian-inspired extra-strength reviving treatment that contains an ultra-rich blend of Coconut Oil, Vanilla Bean Extract and essence of Tiare to help transform hair into silky perfection in no time. This remedy mask is great for dry, damaged and chemically-treated hair and helps to calm frizz and smooth flyaways, leaving the hair looking healthy and feeling amazing in just 3-5 minutes. If you use a lot of heated styling tools, then be sure to include the OGX Frizz Defying + Coconut Miracle Oil Heat Protection Cream* (£7.49 for 177ml). This Cream helps to revive hair suffering from heat damage and protects from future harm. It has a gorgeous tropical scent and you simply apply a small amount on to clean damp hair, before blow drying and styling, locking in the nourishing protection to leave your hair looking its very best. For a natural beachy hair style, I would recommend the OGX Texture + Moroccan Sea Salt Wave Spray* (£7.35 for 177ml). Infused with Sea Salt to help give you beachy waves and Organ Oil from Morocco to seal in moisture and leave hair soft for the perfect undone look. To use, simply spritz the mist on damp or dry hair and then scrunch before leaving it to air dry for perfect beach waves in minutes! Even if you have fine hair like me, don't ever be afraid to use an oil! The OGX Renewing + Argan Oil Of Morocco Penetrating Oil* (£8.99 for 100ml) is the perfect ingredient for silky hair. Infused with Argan Oil sourced straight from Morocco, it helps nutrients seep into the hair shaft and seals in the shine. You can apply this daily to keep the hair strong and silky and a couple of drops is more than enough. Even on fine hair, there is no greasy residue left behind, just shiny, silky perfection.

If you suffer from especially dry hair, then I would highly recommend the Lavera Expert Repair & Deep Care Shampoo* (£6.95 for 250ml) and Conditioner* (£6.95 for 200ml). This duo deeply and effectively cleanses damaged and very dry hair, offering mild and effective cleansing ingredients with intense nourishing and conditioning ingredients to bring your hair back to life, leaving it feeling clean, soft and manageable. These products don't strip the hair of its natural oils, but leaves it looking and feeling clean. One of the key ingredients, Macadamia Oil, contains Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and has excellent caring properties, feeling lightweight and non-greasy, but still absorbing into the hair to give a deep intense treatment, leaving the hair shiny, soft and smooth, whilst also improving manageability.
