Summer is my favourite time of year... everything just feels better! In today's post, I will be bringing you some of my favourite Summer products ranging from makeup to haircare, skincare to fragrance...
Let's start with a face mask! Face masks are great for applying after a day in the sunshine, especially sheet masks. I love the Loops Sunrise Service Masks (£33.00 for 5), which helps to depuff the skin with Pumpkin Extract, while Baobab Oil rejuvenates and moisture-replenishing Bioduferm protects the skin against free radical damage. White Flower Complex brightens the complexion to get you ready for Summer evening drinks. They are suitable for all skin types and you simply apply to a cleansed, dry face, sit back and relax for ten minutes and then peel off and massage the remaining serum into the skin.
For fragrance, I adore the Oui Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum Spray (£23.20 for 30ml), which comes in funky little pink and red glass bottle with a gold chain around its neck. This is a playful and fruity fragrance that is perfect for Summer days or nights. It contains top notes of WaterLemon, Acai Tea Natureprint, and Pear Infusion, with middle notes of Jasmine Absolute, Wild Tuberose and Dewy Honeysuckle Natureprint, along with base notes of Techno Woods, Amber Resins and Captive Musks. It is not a new fragrance by any means, but the fruitiness and muskiness always remind me of Summer.
In Summer, most of us often gain a tan, and so instead of spending a fortune on a new bronzer, the Profusion Cosmetics Bronzer Palette is excellent value! For just £4.99 you are getting six different shades of bronzer, which also include three mattes and three that have a glow running through them. I am always amazed by the quality of Profusion makeup, even more so for the price and the formula is buttery soft and blends easily into the skin. I also like to use bronzer as eyeshadow most days and you have even more variety here!
Talking about eyeshadows, the Juvia's Place The Warrior III Eyeshadow Palette (currently on sale for £6.95) is a must for Summer! This beautiful palette includes nine large pans of brightly coloured eyeshadow, so you can really go to town! There isn't any neutral shades in here, so you can't use a transition shade, but the shade Kongo, a metallic turquoise is just perfection for Summer! I also like to use it to line the eyes as it really sparkles. Whichever event or place you are going to this Summer, the Warrior III Palette has a colour for every occasion!
For foundation, it has to be the Tower 28 SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen (£29.00 for 30ml), a 2-in-1 mineral sunscreen foundation with SPF 30 that evens out redness, protects from sun damage and blue light, and soothes UV-stressed skin while maintaining a natural finish so your real skin can have their moment in the sun. It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and is available in 12 shades, of which I have Larchmont, which is great for fair to light skin. The formula isn't greasy, nor does it leave a white cast and you can build the product up - whether you want a light and sheer coverage or a more medium buildable coverage, making it perfect for both day and night.
The Chantecaille Cheek Shade in the colour Grace (£37.00 for 2.5g) is not only a beautiful blush shade, but a percentage of sales goes towards the charity WIDECAST. The Chantecaille Cheek Shade features an embossed turtle inside, and the formula is made using finely milled pigments that give a stunning colour and a featherweight texture that brushes on lightly and blends seamlessly. The colour Grace is an apricot shade and has a beautiful shimmer over the top of it. There are other shades to choose from, but this is so unique to my collection that I opted for Grace.
Hydration is key in Summer, especially on the lips, and so I highly recommend the Pley Lip Habit Hydrating Lip Tint (£19.00 for 3g), which is available in six shades, including a clear. Here I have the shade Summer Watermelon, a vibrant hot pink which features shimmer running through it. The packaging is gorgeous too! The Lip Habits add colour to the lips and are made with a blend of nourishing botanicals including Rosehip Seed Oil, Coconut Oil and Shea Butter, so not only do your lips look great, they feel amazing too!
Let's go onto hair - the Sol De Janeiro Nourishing Hair Oil (£33.00 for 58ml) was released this year, and as a huge fan of the Sol De Janeiro line, I just had to have this! The fragrance reminds me of Summer too. The Hair Oil is ultra hydrating and is infused with a cocktail of Brazilian oils which are brimming with antioxidants, fatty acids and essential vitamins that deeply moisturise, smooth and enhance the lustre of your locks. It has been clinically proven to repair split ends and provide 72 hour frizz control! Who doesn't love that in Summer? It is non-greasy and doesn't leave any residue in the hair, and a little goes a long way so this will last you a good amount of time!
I don't know about you, but a good setting powder is key for me in the warmer months! One of the best is the By Terry Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder (£40.00 for 7.5g), a colourless powder infused with the skincare benefits of Hyaluronic Acid. The Hydra-Powder sets makeup, mattifies the complexion and creates the perfect makeup finish without drying the skin out. It comes in a compact with a puff so you can use it on the go to banish shine and has a super weightless, silky texture. With it containing Hyaluronic Acid, you know it is going to keep your skin hydrated as well as keeping your makeup in place. Gotta love that!
I have gone a little blush crazy in this post, but I think Summer is the best time of year for adding a pop of bright colour to the cheeks. The Melt Cream Blushlight (£16.00 for 4.5g) is a glowy cream blusher which is available in eight gorgeous shades, and Golden Hour, a bright coral with a glow is the perfect Summer blush. The cream formula melts into the complexion for a dewy, real-skin finish and the subtle sheen adds an extra dimension to the skin. They are multi-use so you can use them on the face, eyes and lips for a stunning monochrome look and they are fully buildable, so you can go as sheer or as bold as you like! I use mine non-stop and think it is about time I got some other shades to try!
For a fun lipliner, I love the Beauty Bakerie Sugarsticks Lip Liner (£18.50 for 0.18g), which is available in many different shades. Here I have the shade Currant News, as I don't have a lip liner of this colour in my collection. I LOVE the packaging - it reminds me of the rock crystal candy you can get in America. This Lip Liner expertly defines and fills out the lips with high quality custom coverage. It has a water-resistant formula (perfect for lazing about in a pool) that ensures long-lasting wear. Creamy in texture, it glides onto the lips easily without tugging or pulling and contains Castor Oil to keep the lips moisturised.
If you want a cheek palette that does it all - bronze, highlighter and blush, then you need the By Terry Brightening CC Palette (£45.00) in Beach Bomb. The packaging itself is stunning alone, and I haven't even got started on the products! The Beach Bomb CC Palette gives you four dreamy shades, including a brightening powder, peachy blush, cheek highlighter and bronzer. Each pressed powder gives sheer to buildable coverage, allowing you to define, sculpt and add a flush of colour to the skin. They are formulated with Optical Glow Technology, which utilises soft-focus microspheres, colour correcting pigments and light-reflecting prisms to create a sleek, lifted look. Added skincare benefits of Rosehip Oil include antioxidant protection, brightening action and hydration.
Is there anything worse than blowdrying your hair in Summer? I think not! That is why you need the J Beverly Hills Dry Fast Speed Styling Spray (£24.00 for 210ml). Suitable for all hair types, this alcohol-free formula dramatically decreases dry time and provides superior heat protection. Formulated with hydrolysed proteins and silk amino acids, Dry Fast aids in the drying process while increasing manageability to achieve long lasting styles. After shampoo and conditioning, section the hair and spray Dry Fast evenly through damp hair, and then blowdry to achieve gorgeous hair in half the time!
One of my favourite lip colour products for Summer is the Chanel Rouge Coco Flash Lip Colour (£35.00 for 3g) in the shade Sunbeam, a very pretty shimmering coral. Chanel lipsticks are pricey, but there is something oh so special about having one. Rouge Coco Flash applies easily over the lips and transforms into a shiny oil for absolute comfort. You get an intense high-shine result and due to an ultra-hydrating texture, it keeps the lips hydrated and gives a glossy oil finish which reflects the light. The HydraBoost formula contains waxes from natural origin - Mimosa, Jojoba and Sunflower and gives immediate and lasting comfort.
If like me, you suffer from puffy undereyes and dark circles, or you suffer from hayfever, then a gorgeous depuffing product that you need is the Kopari Starry Eye Balm (£22.00 for 5g). The packaging is super cute and this hydrating and awakening coconut eye balm delivers a dose of Caffeine to help de-puff, illuminate and refresh tired eyes. This ultra-luxurious, buttery balm melts into the skin and the Caffeine also helps increase circulation and it also contains light-refracting minerals to illuminate, Hyaluronic Acid to smooth and plump as well as Coconut and Rosehip Oil to hydrate and nourish. This is amazing for when you have had one late night too many to get your peepers looking great!
I'm afraid I am ending with another cheek palette - there are honestly just too many great blushes out there at the moment! The Tarte Tartelette Blush in Bloom Cheek Palette (£32.00) contains three limited edition blush shades - Petunia, a peachy buff, Wild Rose, a warm pink and Tulip, a berry shade. The formula is weightless, buttery soft and glides on smoothly, blending seamlessly and the buildable formula complements the majority of skintones. The formula is powered by Amazonian Clay, nature's ingredient for better, longer wear, and also includes Mineral Pigments to soothe and soften the skin, Vitamin E which acts as an emollient and antioxidant and White Tea Leaf which is a great anti-inflammatory ingredient. The design is gorgeous and colours are perfect for everyday!
Let me know your favourite Summer products!
