Clarins Summer 2022 Collection Review + Swatches

Sunday 5 June 2022

Clarins often release the most beautiful Summer collections, and this year is no different - I just had to pick up some of the products. Here are my favourites from the collection...

Starting with the Clarins Ever Bronze Compact Powder (£30.00 for 10g), which is available in three shades, and I went for 02 Medium even though I have fair to light skin as the shades didn't look all that dark. This duo of plant-infused powders leaves the complexion with natural luminosity and a sun-kissed effect. It has an ultra light texture that lets the skin breathe, promoting a healthy, lit-from-within radiance and subtle coverage. It is suitable for all skin types and comes in a lovely ombre effect gold compact that has a mirror on the inside of the lid. The formula contains Coconut Oil and so it is very comfortable to wear and even hydrating on the skin. I like the fact that you get two shades in one here, so that you can use it all year-round, as you get a lighter shade for the colder months, a deeper shade for Summer or you can mix them both together for a pretty, natural, healthy glow.

Clarins have also released some new eyeshadow quad colourways, and here I have the Clarins Ombre 4 Couleurs (£36.00 for 4.2g) in the shade option 05 Jade Gradation. The compact is similar to the Ever Bronze, with a colour coordinated gradient compact, a mirror on the inside of the lid and then a sponge applicator, which I don't ever use to be honest. Jade Gradation features an iridescent creamy very light green, a sparkly silver, a khaki shimmer and a deep shimmery teal green. They are very intensely pigmented and give amazing colour payoff, suitable for all skin types. The formula is crease-free and also contains a primer within it so you don't need to go in with a primer first. The texture is lovely - so silky soft and smooth and even works amazingly well on my hooded lids. They are pricey compared to larger palettes, but the quality is definitely there and I don't have these kinds of colours in any other palette.

The product that first caught my eye from the new collection is the Clarins Ever Bronze & Blush Compact Powder (£30.00 for 10g) in Summer Oasis. This compact has a beautiful design on the lid, and opens up to reveal a mirror on the inside and then a stunning trio of colours in the pan. This irresistible Summer trio contains a bronzing powder to create a sun-kissed glow, a highlighter to illuminate the skin and sculpt, and a peachy blush to add a touch of colour to the cheeks. The iridescent amber and peach shades can be swirled together or to mix and match as you place, and of course you can use them as eyeshadows too, so this is such a great multi-use palette of colours. Each colour is large enough in the pan to use separately, which I really appreciate as you can't always get a brush in some similar compacts. The bronzer does have shimmer to it, so if you prefer a matte bronzer, then I would skip over this, but if like me, you don't mind either way, I honestly think this is a great purchase for Summer.

We have seen coloured mascaras come and go from both high end and drugstore brands over the years, and for the most part, I skip over them, but when I saw the Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara 4D Waterproof (£23.00 for 8ml) in 03 Green Oasis, I had to pick it up. The original Wonder Perfect Mascara 4D is one of my favourite formulas, and this deep forest green shade is like nothing I have come across before. It isn't obviously green on the lashes, but it does give the appearance of a deep green tint which I really like for something different and it works beautifully with the eyeshadow compact I picked up. The Mascara adds volume, length, curve and definition to the lashes and even works extremely well on my short, straight, fine lashes. It is a waterproof formula too, so if you are in the heat or lucky enough to be in a pool somewhere, you don't have to worry about your mascara running!

You can find Clarins online here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
