The No7 Define & Enhance Natural Definition Mascara Review

Friday 16 February 2024

I often overlook No7 in Boots, because there are SO many brands available, but No7 have some really great products and you can often get them on some kind of offer. One of their most recent releases is the No7 Define & Enhance Natural Definition Mascara, which I have been trying out.

For reference, I have naturally short, fine, straight and fair lashes, so what may work for me, might not work for you and vice versa. The No7 Define & Enhance Natural Definition Mascara retails for £15.95, however I saved £3.00 using my Boots Advantage Card and I got it as part of a 3 for 2 deal on No7, so it worked out a lot less than that original price.

You can get the Mascara in two shades - Black and Brown/Black, and as I am fair skinned and fair haired, I opted for Brown/Black as then it tends to look a little more natural. The Mascara comes in a plastic tube with pretty mint green and white colours. Did the colours sway me to order it? Maybe so. The only thing I don't love about this mascara is that the formula is quite dry, so you have to add quite a few coats to get to the desired effect, and I have said previously, that I shouldn't have to 'work' too hard with a mascara. However, one of the things I enjoy the most with this mascara is the conical bristle brush, as this allows you to get in close to the lashes on the inner corner of your eyes, which not all mascara brushes allow you to do, so that is definitely a good thing because as I mentioned, my lashes are quite short.

I do find that this helps elevate my lashes, lifting them up, and lengthening them. Because the formula is quite dry, you do need to apply multiple coats, even so I didn't get any clumping or flaking whatsoever, but you do get some volume to the lashes, which I very much need. The Brown/Black shade is more on the brown side, which I am super happy about as some brown/black mascaras often tend to lean a lot more black. The formula is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers (both of which apply to me and I can confirm no issues), and the gentle formula washes off easily with warm water, therefore reducing breakage and leaving the lashes feeling healthy and strong.

Overall, this Mascara didn't blow me away, but I am super hard to please when it comes to mascaras, and everyone likes different formulas. I will continue to use this Mascara as I love the brush shape, which works really well for me, and the colour. I like the way it keeps the lashes separated and enhanced, I just wish the formula wasn't so dry.
