Mother's Day Gift Guide 2019

Friday 15 March 2019

March is the month to celebrate Mother's Day and so I thought I would share with you some of my favourite products which make the perfect gifts. I personally lost my Mum when I was 17 years old, and my Nanna passed away last month, and I know this is the same for many others, but I think that if you have someone in your life who is there for you like a Mother would be, then you should also celebrate the day with them, whether it be an Aunty, a Sister or a friend.
Starting with Yankee Candle, you cannot go wrong with Yankee Candle and they now offer a service where you can completely personalise a candle, making it such a great keepsake. My favourite scent at the moment is an old favourite, the Sicilian Lemon. I love this fragrance because it is so fresh and perfect for this time of year and if you have tried Yankee Candle before, you will know how long the aroma lasts and the burn down really well so you get plenty of use. This one was £18.00 from Amazon
If you don't have a large budget for Mother's Day gifts, then I would recommend picking up a couple of products from Soap & Glory. Their products work so well and you get a lot of product for not a lot of money. Their Righteous Butter (£10.00) and Flake Away Scrub (£8.00) are both cult favourites and leave your skin looking and feeling super soft. Pop them in a gift bag, or tie them up with a ribbon and you have yourself an affordable but wonderful gift. You can find them in-store and online at Boots*.
I recently discovered a skincare brand called Evolve Beauty and they have some lovely little gift sets available, which come in pretty packaging so they are a quick and easy gift to give. The brand is organic, so props to them, and this cute set contains two products for £26.00. It is a great way to introduce a loved one to organic beauty and inside you get 30ml of the Multi Peptide 360 Moisture Cream and 10ml of the Superfood 360 Serum. You can find this set online at Evolve Beauty*.
When it comes to gifting, I don't think you can go wrong with the gift of great skincare. Two products from the skincare brand Time Bomb which I would highly recommend are the ABC Vitamin Solution (£48.00) and the Flashback Nightly Treatment (£37.00). The ABC Vitamin Solution is a topical mega-dose that supplements the skin's lost vitamins and works at improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and boosts elasticity and firmness. Flashback Nightly Treatment is a plumping treatment for the face which gives your skin a fresh, well-rested feel and appearance as soon as you get up in the morning and is ultra nourishing for the skin. You can find them online at Time Bomb*.
If you are a last-minute Larry, you can even add gifts on to your Ocado shop, such as the Day Tox Hydrating Glow Mask (£15.00). If your Mum or loved one is having a bit of a stressful time, this will be the ultimate SOS solution for their tired skin. The mask has an intensively hydrating effect and helps the skin to look fresher, whilst saying goodbye to any signs of tiredness, giving your loved one a much-needed skin boost. You can find the mask online at Ocado*.
A budget-friendly, yet very reliable skincare brand is Bioderma and Look Fantastic often have deals on such as a third off (at the time of writing), making them the perfect affordable skincare gift. Bioderma also has a lot of products suitable for all skin types and even sensitive skin, so if you don't know the recipient's exact skin type, you will still be safe with these. Two of my recommendations are the Bioderma Moisturising Concentrate (£12.40), a deeply moisturising concentrate that gives instant hydration to very dehydrated and sensitive skin, and the Eye Contour Gel (£15.00) which soothes and hydrates the eye area, especially great for those who have to be up early in a morning or those who don't sleep very well. You can find them online at Look Fantastic*.
On to fragrances, which can sometimes be a little tricky if you are not sure of the kind of scent someone likes, but the Calvin Klein Women Eau de Toilette is a fresh but warm fragrance that will definitely suit most tastes. The bottle is really cool too so it makes a lovely gift. Women has top notes of Lemon, Cassis Buds, Pink Pepper and Raspberry, Heart Notes of White Peony, Orange Flower Petals and Rose Centifolia, with Base Notes of Cedarwood, Ambrox Super and Musk. So even though it is fresh and floral, it also has a fruity and musky tone to it too. Calvin Klein Women is available in three sizes 30ml for £37.00, 50ml for £52.00 and 100ml for £71.00 so you can make it fit around your budget. You can find it online at Boots*.
All Beauty is an excellent website to get premium products at discounted prices, and they have a huge range of fragrances from Molinard. Two of my favourites are the Rose Emois (£54.95 reduced from £130.00) and the Habanita (£46.95 reduced from £80.00). Rose Emois isn't as 'rose-like' as you would imagine, and it contains Top notes of Bergamot, Mint and Almond, Heart Notes of Jasmine, Rose, Ylang-Ylang and Saffron and Base Notes of Musk, Sandalwood, Amber and Oud so even though it has a floral feel to it, it is still quite a woody scent, so again the combination of the two allows it to be a great gift. My favourite Habinata is a very different fragrance, containing Top Notes of Geranium, Mastic, Petit Grain and Ylang-Ylang, with Heart Notes of Vetiver, Cedar, Heliotrope, Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Mimosa, Ylang-Ylang and Nutmeg, and Base Notes of Amber, Vanilla, Patchouli Penang, Mysore Sandal and Oakmoss. It is a very woody and spicy type of scent and I really do love this as it is so unusual, so if you know someone who likes something a little different, then this is definitely the fragrance for them. You can find these and more online at All Beauty*.
If you are looking for something more affordable, but still fragrance-themed, then the Twist & Spritz Fragrance Atomiser (£10.00-12.00) is the perfect gift. They come in a wide variety of colours and are just the right size to be popped into a handbag, or for travelling with. You simply pop in your favourite fragrance and you are ready to go. The Twist & Spritz will hold 8ml of fragrance which is approximately 100 sprays, so this is such a fun and convenient way to carry around your favourite fragrance. You can find it in-store and online at The Fragrance Shop*.
You know I had to include some makeup. This is the stunning IT Cosmetics IT Girl Eye & Cheek Palette Volume 2 (£48.00). Firstly, the packaging is incredible, it comes in a sturdy mirrored palette and where it says it girl on the front, it is filled with pink glitter and holographic shapes which move around like a glitter shower. Inside, the palette houses a large mirror on the inside lid, a gorgeous multi-tonal blush, and twelve eye shadows. The six shades on the left are all shimmer finishes, whilst the six on the right are a mixture of satin and matte finishes, and for the amount of colours, the range is really versatile so you can create so many different looks. The Brightening Blush helps to blur the appearance of pores and gives you a fresh, airbrush finish and as it has an ombre effect, it is going to suit so many different skin tones. You can find this online at IT Cosmetics*.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
