Essence Cosmetics Autumn 2019

Thursday 24 October 2019

Essence have some amazing new collections and product releases this season, and I was very kindly sent a handful of them to test out and share my thoughts with you guys on here. Some of the items I had screenshotted previously to go ahead and purchase so I was extremely happy to see them arrive through my letterbox. Here's what's new for Essence this season...
Essence Princess Lash Mascara will always have my heart, no exaggeration I must have gone through at least ten tubes of it over the years. So I have been very excited to try the new Essence What The Fake! Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara (£3.49). It looks a little similar to the original Princess Lash, with the black and mint green packaging, although this time with a chunkier tube. The wand has a traditional bristle brush feel to it, and is slimmer than the Princess Lash. This mascara contains special nylon fibres to add length and volume to the lashes, which is great for me as I have naturally fine, straight, fair, short lashes. There is no clumping, just bold, thicker, longer lashes - all for just £3.49, which always blows my mind!
Another new product is the Essence Perfect Shine Lipstick (£2.99), which is available in six shades, of which I have the shade 05 Perfect Plan, a beautiful warm dusky rose shade, perfect for this time of year. The Lipstick comes in rose gold packaging, and has a flat, slanted tip to it, to ensure full coverage per application. Key ingredients included in the Perfect Shine formula are Vitamin E and shea butter, so not only are your lips going to look amazing, they are going to feel amazing too. I always try to keep my lips well-conditioned, especially at this time of year, and so it is really great to see a lip colour that is a conditioning treatment too.
Next up is the Essence Contouring Duo Palette (£3.49), which is available in the option I have here, 10 Lighter Skin or 20 Darker Skin. So, there isn't a tonne of colour options, but I find with contour palettes, you don't always need that. This handy palette contains two good-sized pans of a matte highlighter shade and a matte contouring shade. Contouring and highlighting is very specific to each and every face shape, but I like to apply on the sides of my nose, along my jawline and below the cheekbones. The formula gives off colour without being overly dark or 'blocky', which makes for an excellent contour product.
One of the products I had put on my screenshot wish list was the Essence Hydrating + Perfecting Primer (£3.79). This little glass bottle comes with a dropper applicator so that you can control the amount of product you are using without creating a mess. I really love this primer as it helps to keep my pores smaller, and less noticeable, whilst also keeping my skin lovely and smooth before applying foundation. It has a creamy texture to it, which melts into the skin instantly and contains SPF20 to protect the skin from UV rays and a Vitamin Complex to moisturise and nourish the skin, which it does as soon as you massage it in to the skin. £3.79 though - where else could you get such a gorgeous primer from for that price?!
Next up is the Essence The Blush (£2.50) in the shade 10 Befitting, a stunning warm rose shade, which adds just the right amount of colour to the cheeks. The packaging is a little plain on The Blush and the next product, The Highlighter, but for the price, I don't mind so much. The formula feels very silky soft on the skin, and Befitting seems to have a slight satin finish to it, without being shiny or anything like that. As I wore a lot of bronzer in the warmer months I tended not to add too much blush, so I am very much looking forward to wearing more blusher this Autumn with The Blush.
With very similar packaging, we then have the Essence The Highlighter (£2.50), which I have here in the shade 10 Heroic. Heroic is a soft ballet pink highlighter that has a silver touch to it, and is more of a pretty, delicate highlighter than a full-on pigmented blingy highlighter. However, I really don't mind that, as sometimes it is nicer to have something more subtle, but which will also help the skin to have a little glow to it, especially during the colder months when my skin is pretty dull and lacklustre.
You can find these products and more online at Feel Unique here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
