David Beckham was my first celebrity crush, back in the 90s, when I was about 10 or 12 years old, as I loved Manchester United and he was the one. I met him after numerous games, and my Mum loved him too, so it was extra special when she got to meet him too, a year or two before she passed away. Posh Spice was also my favourite Spice Girl and so when the two got together I was half jealous and half thrilled. I have followed the Beckhams for years and so when Victoria released her very own beauty line, Victoria Beckham Beauty, I was super excited.
I can't afford anything from Victoria's fashion line, but knew that I would at least be able to try out her makeup brand. Even though the collection was launched last year, I didn't actually purchase anything until this year. The reason for that? Well, it is still premium beauty prices, and the products are small, and I wanted to see what other's thoughts on them were before I invested myself. I do like to make my own mind up about something, but when something has a higher price tag, I like at least a little guidance.
The collection currently doesn't host a lot of products - Victoria has kept it slimline at the moment and the two products I decided to order was the Victoria Beckham Smoky Eye Brick and the Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre, as I thought I would get the most use out of these. I received the products in a little drawstring dust bag, and there was also a little note and a sample of the Victoria Beckham By Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Primer Moisturiser, which I really want to try, so I can't wait to put that to the test.
The Victoria Beckham Smoky Eye Brick is available in four different colour stories, and I opted for 'Signature'. The Palette costs £48.00 and is small, there is no getting away from that, but I believe Victoria wanted to reduce unnecessary packaging. The casing has a tortoiseshell effect with gold accents and is pretty weighty. Inside, there is a mirror on the inside of the lid, and then four differently-sized shadows. The only thing I don't always love about having all the shades in the same pan, is that they can cross over, and become discoloured from the other shades, so I will have to be very careful with this. The four shades included within the palette are, Cami, a matte nude, Slip, a blush pink with slight sparkle, Saddle, a matte chocolate brown and Suede, a more milk chocolate brown with sparkle. The formula is super soft and velvety with excellent pigmentation and you do feel like you have something special. Is it worth the money? I think that depends on your personal opinion, but in my opinion, you pay for what you get, and it is a quality product, there is not doubt about that. But, with the prices as they are, I do have to think carefully about my purchases. I do love that the palette is small enough to slip into a clutch bag or makeup bag for travel, though.
The second item I chose was the Victoria Beckham Lid Lustre Crystal Infused Eyeshadow in the shade Mink. There are three other shades to choose from - Onyx, a smoky black, Blonde, a very light champagne and Midnight, a rich blue. Mink is a chocolate brown shade and I thought I would get the most use out of that shade compared to the others. Lid Lustre is £28.00, so again pricey for one eyeshadow, but it is very beautiful. It comes in a neat and petite container, which I believe is glass, complete with a tortoiseshell effect lid. It has the sort of formula and texture that you wouldn't find in a £5.00 eyeshadow, and so if you are wanting to try something out from the collection, I would opt for one of these as it is pretty unique and super high quality. Mink includes a mixture of gold and silver pearl and is infused with Tigers Eye and features soft press powder technology which contains over 60% pearlescent pigments. A little goes a long way with this product and I imagine the three other shades are equally as beautiful.
So, there we have it. Victoria Beckham Beauty is pricey, but the quality is there and you really do feel like you have something special. You can find the products and more online at Victoria Beckham Beauty here.
All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
