Samaya is an all-natural skincare brand based on Ayurvedic principles, which helps you achieve samadosha or a 'perfect balance' in your life beginning with your skin. Samaya's website offers you the chance to answer multiple choice questions in order to find your Dosha, which helps to determine which products your skin need the most. There are three types of Dosha - Vata, Pitta or Kapha. Based on the answer I gave, the Kapha collection is the one for me. Kapha reads as 'laidback and eas-going with a stable, steady energy level. Often has a strong physical frame but can be lethargic or apathetic if out of balance. Takes a relaxed, reasonable approach to life and can be compassionate, gentle and kind. Skin is usually thick and pale, can be radiant and glowing, but with clogged pores or excess oil when out of balance.' For the most part, this is true!
I was kindly sent the Samaya Ayurvedic Skincare Hydrating Cleanser for the Kapha Dosha* (£59.00 for 100ml) to try out. The Hydrating Cleanser comes in a pretty mint green tube which opens up to reveal a frosted glass bottle, complete with a push down applicator for ease of use. The packaging alone is beautiful and luxurious.
The cleanser contains a unique formulation that provides hydration whilst cleansing and purifying the skin, melting into the skin upon application to remove makeup and lift impurities, leaving the skin feeling balanced, purified, softer and more radiant. The cleanser has a light, natural scent to it, which is heavenly and spa-like and the formula feels rich and creamy, and instantly hydrates the skin as soon as you apply it, giving a noticeable difference immediately.
There are a whole host of beautiful, natural ingredients used in the formula, including Sandalwood Oil to restore and calm the skin, which is also mood-boosting with relaxing holistic effects, whilst astringent, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties help to smooth and soften any rough skin patches. Frankincense Oil has a cleansing and purifying effect on both the mind and the body as it promotes healthy skin by reducing blemishes, minimising visible pores and boosting the skin's immunity, encouraging the regeneration of healthy cells. This oil is also known to help relieve chronic stress, anxiety and fatigue.
Vetivert Oil is known as the Oil of Tranquility in India and has soothing and healing qualities which can balance oily skin and repair damage by promoting regeneration of skin cells. It has a heady, earthy fragrance and is a pacifying, relaxing her that can fight stress and uplift both mind and body. Ashwagandha Root Extract is an effective stress reliever and energy restorer with anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory properties that help fight wrinkles and defend skin against blemishes and breakouts, helping to even the skin tone and balance moisture levels. Turmeric Root Oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredient that heals the skin's barrier while protecting it from free radical damage.
Aloe Leaf Extract is an antibacterial, anti-ageing ingredient that soothes and promotes healing, hydrating the skin and contributing to the natural production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Gotu Kola Oil is also an anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing herb that helps fight chronic skin conditions by repairing damage done to the skin and stimulates collagen production in the skin. Saccharide Isomerate is a 100% natural, plant-derived, effective and long-lasting active moisturising ingredient that provides sustained hydration, protects against future damage and restores and replenishes the skin. Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that helps soothe and repair the skin, helps promote immunity and defend against free radicals, helping scars and abrasions to heal while fighting signs of ageing, such as UV damage.
The Kapha Hydrating Cleanser is such a beautiful product to use and as it has so many essential oils and skin-loving ingredients, it feels super nourishing on the skin and a little goes a long way. You simply apply a small amount to dry skin and massage gently, and then rinse off with warm water or a damp face cloth. The formula feels quite creamy and rich as you apply it and it then turns into a milky emulsion, balancing out the skin and leaving it feeling super cleansed and hydrated. I am in love with this product and would highly recommend checking out your Dosha so you can find the right skincare products for you.
