Jane Scrivner is passionate about skincare and about her products. She trials each and every product on herself first, and if it doesn't make a difference, then she doesn't sell it. Jane is continually researching and trialling the best ingredients for her skincare products and I was recently, very kindly sent two of them to try.
The Jane Scrivner Bioluronic Buzz* (£32.00 for 50g) is a bio fermented hyaluronic gel that contains a plethora of skin-loving ingredients and as the exact same concentration of hyaluronic acid as their 135g bottle. The Bioluronic Buzz comes in a pretty white and rose gold bottle with a push down applicator and the formula itself is a clear gel that feels silky smooth on the skin, drying down to leave a firming, hydrating layer to pull moisture into the skin whilst smoothing and refining fine lines. Hyaluronic acid provides the skin with up to 1,000 times more hydration into the skin to fortify and maintain the skin's texture and barrier function. Another key ingredient is Apilanthes Acmella which helps to reduce muscle tension and smooth micro wrinkles and lines. Bioluronic Buzz is 100% natural and uses Organic Aloe Vera as a gel base to boost the water content and to calm, cool and nourish the skin - you can feel the hydration as soon as the product has been applied to the skin. the product gets its name from Spilanthes Acmella, which is jointly known as Buzz Button or the Toothache Plant as applied topically it reduces muscle tension and is a natural muscle relaxant, penetrating the skin and inhibiting contractions in the subcutaneous muscles, making it a safe alternative to Botox - and much cheaper too! Willow Bark Extract is a natural source of BHA, which is able to penetrate and exfoliate deep into the skin, to provide longer-lasting smoother skin. Organic Aloe Barbadensis Extract is a skin-healing emollient and also a natural source of vitamins and minerals, and Organic Frankincense Essential Oil works as an astringent, toning, lifting and tightening the skin. To use, you simply apply a little to the pads of the fingers and massage into the skin, both morning and night, and if you struggle with dryness on the arms and legs, it can even be used there too - I do love a multi-use product!
After using the Bioluronic Buzz, I would recommend then applying the Jane Scrivner OO Cream* (£39.00 for 100ml). OO stands for Over Oil, so you can apply this product over any facial oil or serum. This little pot of joy comes with a wooden spatula to keep the product from dirt and oil on the fingers, and works to lock in the nutrients of your daily facial routine whilst forming a fine film to protect from trans epidermal water loss, keeping the skin more hydrated. The OO Cream is formulated using a combination of organic and natural phyto ingredients to fully protect and maintain healthy skin. The Cream itself is light orange in colour, but it does of course dry down clear onto the skin and has a light, natural, spa-like scent to it. Ingredients include beta-glucan rich Colloidal Oatmeal to strengthen and repair the skin's matrix, Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid and Vitamin A to nourish the skin, calming and protective Argan Oil, Betulinic Acid to enhance skin tone and clarity and Vitamin E for enhanced barrier function. At first, the cream feels quite thick and rich in the pot, but once you apply it onto the skin, it doesn't leave behind any residue, nor is it greasy. It sinks into the skin instantaneously and does feel like it is protecting the skin, as well as feeling refreshing and nourishing. As I mentioned, you can apply the OO Cream over a facial oil or serum, or on its own to moisturise, nourish and protect the skin, both morning and night.
