Trying Jane Iredale Makeup

Tuesday 6 April 2021

I first discovered Jane Iredale at my local beauty salon, and as they are more of a skincare makeup brand, they really intrigued me. I was very kindly sent three beautiful products from the brand to try out so I just had to share them with you.

Starting with the complexion, we have the Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener* (£36.00 for 50ml), which comes in a formula for normal skin or oily skin. The Primer comes in a gorgeous rose gold squeezy tube, which I always prefer as you can control the amount of product you are needing. This is a skin-quenching primer that helps to maintain the skin's youthful appearance whilst also minimising the appearance of pores and fine lines and bringing out your natural radiance. The formula has a cream to gel-like formula that is instantly refreshing on the skin and feels slightly thicker, which I like as it feels so nourishing and hydrating on the skin and a little goes a long way. However, it does dry down pretty quickly too, so you don't have to wait a while before applying your foundation, which is great for when you are in a rush in a morning. The key ingredients within this primer are Grapefruit Extract which promotes luminosity and skin radiance, Apple Extract which is a skin-smoothing antioxidant that also helps to maintain the skin's youthful elasticity, and Green and White Tea Leaf extracts which are anti-ageing and soothe and calm irritated skin. All in all, this is a beautiful base product and I really appreciate those skin-loving ingredients as I know they are taking care of my skin throughout the day.

The Jane Iredale Beyond Matte Liquid Foundation* (£39.95 for 27ml) comes in a recyclable frosted glass bottle and has a pump applicator, making it super quick and easy to use. There are eighteen shades to choose from and as I have fair to light skin, I chose the second lightest shade, M2, which is perfect for my skin tone. This foundation is suitable for all skin types, but especially combination to oily skin. I have combination skin, with a very oily T-Zone and dry cheeks, and I found this mattified my T-Zone all day long but didn't cling to any dry patches either. I tried applying the foundation with a beauty sponge, a foundation brush and even my fingertips, and all three worked really well. It gives a beautiful, smoothness to the skin, and makes your skin look like skin, whilst hiding any redness or blemishes. The Beyond Matte Foundation gives light to full coverage as it builds seamlessly and can be used as a primer, concealer and foundation, which is great for when we are able to travel as it means less products in your beauty bag. Even though this is a matte foundation, I found it to be quite moisturising and not at all drying or tight-feeling on the skin and it is super comfortable and long-lasting throughout the day. Key ingredients include PoreTect, a blend of Celery extract and Linseed extract to minimise pores, smooth uneven texture and reduce the appearance of shine on the complexion, Xilogel, from Tamarind Seed, which is a plant-based Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and keep moisture locked into the skin and Jojoba Seed Oil to hydrate and balance the skin's natural sebum.

For the lips, I was able to try out the Jane Iredale Lip Fixation Lip Stain* (£28.00 for 2.75ml), which comes in a handy-sized tube with a rose gold lip and has a slanted flocked applicator to help you achieve a nice even finish and lip line. There are twelve shades to choose from, and I have Blissed-Out, which is a very beautiful petal pink, which is perfect for Spring and Summer. This is a long-wearing matte liquid lipstick, but one that doesn't feel tight on the lips, and neither does it crack like some matte formulas can. The formula has been created using plant-based oils that condition the lips and protect them throughout the day. With us all wearing face coverings at the moment, you want something that is going to last and not transfer, and this does that job perfectly. I have quite fine lips, and sometimes I get feathering from liquid lipsticks, but that doesn't happen with this lip product, it stays exactly where I applied it and even though this is a matte formula, it looks lovely and healthy once it has dried down.

Jane Iredale is a cruelty free brand and you can find them online here.

All the Loves,
Kathryn xxx
