The power of crystals has been quite popular over the past year or two and Essence have released a collection inspired by crystals and the four elements of nature, Air, Earth, Fire and Water. The Essence My Power Is collection consists of four Hydrate & Prime Mists and four Eyeshadow Palettes, and there are one of each for Air, Earth, Fire and Water.
The four Essence My Power Is Hydrate & Prime Mists (£3.99 each for 60ml) intensively moisturise the skin while optimally prepping it for makeup. Each one has an individual fragrance that matches its element and contains precious stones with a positive effect on your mood. While the Amethyst in the Fire spray has a calming effect, the Rock Crystal of the element Water can help release negative feelings and focus on your own energy. The Earth Mist with Aventurine has a grounding effect and helps to gain new confidence and the Rose Quartz in the Air Hydrate & Primer Mist promotes self-love. I think this is such a lovely idea, and as a huge Essence fan, you really cannot beat their prices. It is super pretty to see the crystals in the bottom of the bottles and the applicator has quite a chunky press-down lid so they're comfortable to use and the mist sprays out pretty generously without drenching your face. I am the Water sign, but I do enjoy using each and every one of these mists as they all smell uniquely different.
I have really been getting into smaller, more compact eyeshadow palettes lately - they are just so much easier to store and to travel with, and whoever in this day and age ever finishes a huge palette? Not this girl! The Essence My Power Is Eyeshadow Palettes (£4.99 for 7.2g) again come in four different colour story options - Air, Earth, Fire and Water and each compact contains nine eyeshadows and is made from cardboard without a mirror, so they are completely recyclable.
The formula is buttery and creamy and I am obsessed with some of these shades! The zodiac signs of the element Air are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius and they are brilliant, curious and independent - both the statement colour gold and the soft nude shades of the Air Palette were created for these signs.
Grounded, loyal and focused are the typical traits of Earth star signs Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn and the unique green tone and natural-earthy nuances of the Earth Palette stand for these characteristics.
The three Fire signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are considered to be extremely enthusiastic, passionate and funny and their colour of choice is red, which is reflected in the Fire Eyeshadow Palette, which also has warm orange and reddish brown shades, in a mixture of finishes.
The Water signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces (me) are particularly sensitive, intuitive and creative (mostly me, haha!) and these blue and turquoise shades express their emotional depth and are the highlight of the Water Palette, which also contains a pop of purple, some neutrals and even a stunning glitter (this palette is my favourite of the four).
