Collection Cosmetics - New In - Spring 2021

Monday 14 June 2021

Collection Cosmetics is one of those brands that have been around for years, I am 37 and I remember them from when I was a teenager. To me, their products and brand as a whole seemed to be getting a little dated, but they recently had a full re-haul, with new packaging and lots of new products. I recently picked up a few of the newbies and so I thought I would share my thoughts with you.

I ordered all of these products online from Boots, and when I chose the Collection Gorgeous Glow Glossy Serum Primer (£4.99 for 15ml), I did expect it to be bigger given that it is a primer. Anywho, it comes in a pump applicator bottle and is an oil, serum and primer hybrid that creates a dewy complexion. The formula contains Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, Jojoba and Grapeseed Oil. There is just the one shade available but as it is a serum, to me that isn't an issue and it feels very nourishing on the skin. You only need a small amount for the full face, and as it brightens the skin and adds a healthy glow, you can either wear it alone or underneath makeup. I must admit I really like this Primer, and even though it does give the complexion a glowy look, I think I mainly enjoy using it because it is so nourishing and hydrating to my dry, dull skin.

A trio of products I have been loving are the Collection Gorgeous Glow Sticks (£4.99 each for 4.5g), which are available in a Contour shade, Highlight shade and Blush shade. At the moment, there only seems to be one shade of each, so obviously they are not fully universal, but hopefully they will release more shades. They have a similar appearance to the Fenty Beauty Match Stix, but are much cheaper, and so the packaging does feel a little cheap in comparison. The formula of these are gorgeous and I have not stopped using them since I first tried them out - they are super creamy, and I was pleasantly surprised by how pigmented and easily buildable they are. The Contour Stick would probably suit light to medium skin tones, the Highlight stick is a light champagne and the Blush Stick is a pretty soft rosy pink. I would definitely recommend trying these out as they are excellent, especially for the price!

For the lips, I chose the Collection Lip Spa Lip Oil (£3.99 for 5ml), which comes in a regular gloss-style bottle with a flocked doe-foot applicator. This is a clear lightweight lip oil that isn't sticky or gloopy and adds shine to the lips. The formula contains Rosehip and Mint Oils to hydrate and nourish the lips, and you can smell a slight mint fragrance when you first apply it to the lips. There are three shades available - Plumping, Pink Blush, which is the one I have here and Red Glow. As soon as you apply them to the lips, you feel that instant nourishment and hydration and whilst they do add a little plumpness to the lips, you don't get that stinging feeling, so they are completely comfortable to wear and give a lovely shine to the lips.

Another product from the Lip Spa collection is the Collection Lip Spa Lip Glow (£3.99 for 1.3g), and I did make the mistake of twisting this up for photos and then realising you couldn't twist it back down, so mine looks slightly messy, but I managed to just wipe off the excess. This is a smooth vitamin-rich lip balm that gives a sheer wash of colour and is enriched with Cocoa Butter and Sunflower Oil to hydrate and soothe dry, sensitive lips. There is a pleasantly mild fruity scent to the balm, and there is only one shade available as far as I can tell at the moment, which is Sheer Coral, which adds a lovely wash of coral pink to the lips. These are really hydrating and certainly one of my favourite lip care products at the moment, as you get that hint of colour as well as alllll the moisture and hydration. I hope they release some more shades!
