The Rimmel Multi Tasker Better Than Filters Primer Review + Swatches

Sunday, 4 February 2024

I often find myself saying, 'ooh I love to try new mascaras', or new eyeshadow palettes, and the list goes in, because in all honesty, I just love trying any kind of new makeup or skincare product! So today, we have the Rimmel Multi Tasker Better Than Filters Primer review.

We have seen many beauty brands release this kind of product, which I believe to be inspired by the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, and Rimmel are a little late to the game, but that makes me more intrigued, because then they have to have come up with something better than everyone else, as they have had more time, and have been able to see both the positive and negatives from previous similar products.

The Rimmel Multi Tasker Better Than Filters Primer costs £12.99 for 30ml, which is the average size of a primer, and is available in six shades, going from Fair through to Medium Deep. Let's hope they release some darker shades ASAP! I opted for 001 Fair, as I am fair to light skinned, and for a primer I am happy to go lighter than I would for foundation as it is more fail-safe that way. The bottle is made from glass with a gold lid and a nice chunky sponge applicator, similar to the Dior Lip Oil applicators, but a little bigger. I do prefer products to have applicators as I don't like to use my fingers, and so I can apply this straight to my skin.

The Vegan and Cruelty Free formula is enriched with natural Bio-Peptides, to provide the skin with hydration, alongside Vitamins C and E to brighten and condition the skin. You can use the Primer before base makeup, or as a glow booster mixed in with foundation or to highlight the skin over the top of makeup. I have only tried it multiple times as a primer, as I have quite textured skin due to enlarged pores, so I like to keep my glow as natural as possible, rather than highlighting my skin with glowy foundation.

I always like to stress that everyone's skin is different and so what works for me, may not work for you and vice versa. For reference, I have a fair to light skin tone, and combination 39-year-old skin. However, personally I found that this melted into my skin instantly, and it didn't leave a cast of colour, which is positive in my opinion. I find that it feels lightweight and hydrating as soon as you apply it, which I enjoy as I like anything that feels refreshing on the skin. It gives the complexion a glow, without looking sparkly or glittery, which I was surprised at, because in the bottle it looks very shimmery, but once applied to the skin, it makes it look ethereal, but in a naturally beautiful way. Once applied to the skin, it is very so slightly tacky, but that is a good thing because then I found it grabbed onto my foundation and kept it in place. I would definitely recommend trying this out, and let's just hope they release some darker shades soon.

You can find it online at Look Fantastic here, Boots here, and Superdrug here.

All the Loves,
